Twitch doesn't have a "notification system" for hosts (unlike follows, subs, raids, etc.) so the only way for StreamElements to know that you are being hosted is to connect through you to twitch. This connection is made on:

it all depends on how you want to set it up, and what you have. Like your images, if its stuff like stream labels, or a window frame, you can easily add that to the overlay
so the example i gave above, i have my frame, and goal in one overlay, my alerts in another, event list etc. the only image i have that is local is the background image, and that is full screen and it is easier for me to layer this way
then i have different overlay browser sources unique to their scenes, and ones that get reused in other scenes

There's a bug with SE where if someone has the stream store open and sound effects are disabled, if they don't refresh they can still redeem store items.

I've got a question: The game I play "Clone Hero" has a functionality that exports the current song that you're playing into a text file in the directory it's installed in, on one of the overlays there's a "Now Playing" section which takes off the song-request functionality, Is there a way of porting the text file that gets created into the overlay?

our "Now Playing"/current song widget takes the song that is playing from Media Request(which plays from YT). From where is Clone Hero getting the current song?
Also if that text file is updated every so often, then its best to remove out current song widget and add the text file as plain text box via OBS on top. Let me fetch a screenshot.

If you're not using one of our themes, one way to restore the sound is, to add the alert widget again and just copy over all the other settings you did then delete the alert widget that has no bit/cheer sound

If your OBS settings are 1920 x 1080 you're fine, you don't need to have the game's settings to 1920 x 1080 because as I explained earlier you can set the Scale Resolution for the Game Capture to scale down to a 16:9 resolution within OBS

They told you that if you stream in a 16:9 resolution you'd be fine π which means if your base resolution, your overlay and your scale resolution of your gameplay are all in a 16:9 resolution, i.e. 1920 x 1080 resolution then you'd not get the black bars

If your monitor resolution isn't 1920 x 1080 then you'll see black bars at the side of every stream, because Twitch makes it 16:9, doesn't mean that everybody else sees that, the important thing is making sure you're streaming in a 16:9 resolution

If you set your settings correctly they're the only black bars you should see, you don't need to change your monitor resolution, you only need to set your resolution to a 16:9 resolution in Settings > Video, if you add gameplay set the Scale Resolution to 1536 x 864, it's the option at the top

That's a game capture set to Scale Resolution 1536 x 864
Obviously it doesn't look great because it's squashed down, but it means you don't need to change your game resolution
But the point is you never need to change your monitor resolution π

Changing title/game of the stream requires broadcaster level Twitch permissions which is why not even full access can do that from the dashboard
You're able to see recent activities in the activity feed so that alerts can be replayed but less than full access can not see the entire history of tips/bits/subs including accumulated totals for periods such as week/month/year

Hello, I have a slight little problem, I have joined the affiliate program I have added my sub alerts to my OBS and everything if I do a test sub it shows up and everything but today I have gotten a real sub and that is not showing up anywhere in stream elements not in the Ground Control app not on the website dashboard. For twitch prime, the user needs to have sharing enabled on https://www.twitch.tv/settings/prime. hey, im running into an issue where i am getting multiple notification sounds on obs from my alerts. im really confused. I have all scenes set to disabled when not visible and stuff.
can anyone help me???

got a question if anyone could assist. trying to setup redemptions however im not showing that they will be shown as an alert, and the store redemptions alert is something completely separate

If you want to use a stream perk, or sound store item, you will want to add a store redemption widget to your overlay

though that does not show any specific image pertaining to a specific alert, just a generic one. how do i have a specific redemption have a certain image different than other redemptions?

Afterwards its just placing your Twitch Stream Key in OBS and hitting that "Start Streaming" button for the 1st time

If you've recorded videos before with OBS, then your settings should be good to go. But you will need to adjust the encoder most likely and especially the bitrate.

usually if your PC is decent - 3000 bitrate at output 720p 30fps is a nice way to start strreaming
let me pull the encoders
so the x264 encoder will use your CPU to encode the stream(but still some GPU power) and if your CPU is a beast then your good to go. If your CPU isn't that good, then use NVENC(or the other option as on my OBS I don't see NVENC, due to integrated GPU) but this will place more resource usage on your GPU
So try around stream for 1-2 hours, watch your VOD for quality and fix as you go. 1st week of streaming(1st 5 to 7 total streams) you'll be busy adjusting a lot of things. Get a friend for that Quality Assurance

Hello all! Is it counter productive to have streamlabs OBS and then streamelements? I am very ignorant in this currently. Needing to beef up my computer before I go live, but I wanted to have everything ready on the stream so I am being somewhat productive.

@patent plover If you're struggling for resources while streaming, best bet its SLOBS and our animated overlays. There are 2 ways you can go about:
- Switch to a static overlay from us
- Switch to (vanilla) OBS
Imho best to switch to vanilla OBS

@lone kettle It sounds like may need to update your Twitch your stream key in OBS or whatever program you're using to stream
