Hey help section.
Just installed stream elements into OBS studio and I misunderstood the change stream bot name instructions. I signed into it with my twitch account, not realizing that I needed a second account to sign into it until AFTER... I'm not seeing an option to sign-out as the bot, how do I do that so I can create a 2nd account to sign the bot in with? Or am I just stuck?

Quick question. how long does it take for a tip to go to paypal after you've been tipped? Not sure where to ask this and i am confused

If a viewer tipped through PayPal but no information appears in your StreamElements account, this generally means PayPal has held the tip for verification.
Until PayPal clears the tip and sends back a confirmation to your StreamElements account, no information will appear there and no alert will play, as that confirmation is the only way for us to be aware of a successful transaction.
There is a posibility that the tip may have been sent as an eCheque/eCheck - these tips can take from 7 up to 21+ days to show up on our side. Tippers can usually cancel these.
If you believe there may be an issue with the transaction, you'll need to contact PayPal support as StreamElements is only a passthrough service and never actually gets involved with the transaction or touches the money

Letting us know so we can look deeper into. Lots of reasons that this could happen. So far, from what i've seen and checked, the issue may be on OBS vs anything from our end, but if it does occur, I can double check and test a bit more. My hunch is the overloading isn't allow the capturing of the events sent to the overlay.

I would double check the emotes that are set up for the emote wall but that shouldn't stop the Alertbox from working all together. Again, should it not work or something doesn't go as intended, let us know and we can deep dive into it

The only reason I think it's a StreamElements thing is because my Google Chrome console is spitting out a bunch of errors and that it's turned things to false? IDK what any of it means, but usually false doesn't mean anything good 😅

Not the creator, so there isn't much I can do. If you search "valorant" in the channel, you can find a post by @verbal goblet where they created an api call that pulls that data. you basically just need to fill out

If you changed your name on Twitch, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://streamelements.com/logout and then log in again by connecting with Twitch.
  2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

If you do not touch anything else during the install prompts, except the button "Next", all your profile data and scenes should be stored. Else if you are afraid of loosing them, make sure you do a backup!

If OBS for some reason doesn't open and you want to manually backup your files, open file explorer and paste this into the location bar on top: open file explorer -> %appdata%\obs-studio\basic -> copy the 2 folders there

I'm a streamer who regularly streams magic: the gathering (3-4 days/week), and I was wondering how to join the content creator program so I can get into the early access events for each set.

It says the magic: the Gathering link should be under the Partnerships tab on the streamelements site, but it's no there.

Ive completed several successful partnerships for other stuff already. Is there any way to manually apply or get the magic: the gathering partnership to show up?

Hi guys, i just got hacked and changed everything, including twitch token.
Now i'm trying to cloud backup my stuff from SE.Live, it brings the other scenes and stuff, but my main, when i change to it , i got "Failed to authenticate with Twitch:
Error: Your Twitch login token is no longer valid. Please try to reconnect your account.
I already did it with OBS, SE.Live, i reinstalled OBS too, and nothing.

Did you get a "Channel already claimed" message?

More than likely your accounts need to be merged! - Please note:

  • Merging accounts allows for faster ways to switch between accounts
  • Merging accounts allows duplicating/sharing overlays between the accounts
  • Merging accounts does not allow data sharing between accounts - different streaming platforms, different type of events

If you understand the limitations of merging and want to proceed, please find the JWT tokens (!jwt) from both accounts you want to merge and fill out the form here: http://streamelements.com/contact with each token correctly labelled

If you changed your name on Twitch, please follow these steps:

  2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

I don't know which channel to put this under but my streamelements commands are not working anymore and I can't figure out how to fix them. I've parted and rejoined the bot to my channel, I've muted and unmuted, I've parted and logged out and back in and rejoined, and followed a random tutorial I found on google on how to fix them by typing some code in somewhere and it did nothing. I also went to twitch and removed StreamElements from my connections and reconnected and they still aren't working.

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using SE.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In SE.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

There are no "best settings".
Please understand that every setup will be very different.

Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming. Your best option is to start with a base and adjust as necessary.

You can run the OBS auto-configuration tool. To use the auto-config, click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard, and then just follow the on-screen directions.
You can use this tool to get baseline settings for your hardware and adjust as necessary from there.

Test, test, and test again. We are happy to offer suggestions for any issues you may be having afterward, but not a list of settings.

Hey there, I'm wondering if anyone can offer any help/advice on the following please?

  • When Streaming on Twitch there's anywhere between 120-200 viewers in the live chat.

  • I have 2 timers set up on StreamElements.

  • Timer 1 contains 10 messages

  • Timer 2 contains 10 messages.

  • Timer 1 has online interval set at 8 minutes, with chat lines at 0.

  • Timer 2 has online interval set at 12 minutes, with chat lines at 0.

  • At certain times during a 5 hour stream, the Timer commands look like they're spamming, with Timer 2 showing a message right after Timer 1's message in the live chat (even though there's a 4 minute gap in between Timer 1 and Timer 2.

Honestly, set them at intervals that aren’t divisible evenly to prevent spam, then set random chat lines based on how frequently you want them to run.

Don’t set the chat lines threshold so high so it never runs, but reasonable enough that it isn’t “spammy”. Also when you set the chat lines threshold, it is designed to count the number of chat lines within the time threshold you set, so if you set 300 lines in 5 minutes, it won’t trigger

Go to your “My overlays” page in your dashboard and on the overlay with your alert box click the … and select properties(?) and the. Set the resolution to 1080p and save it, then check it in obs

A SE bot message counts as 1 chat line. So I might need to increase the lines on each timer if it still looks a bit like spam, but the minutes on both timers will still be fine as they are.

Hello! I have this problem where, only one user I have noticed so far, won't appear in my alertbox. They have subscribed, they have given bits, and they have gifted subs. All have not gone through the alertbox, and they won't replay when I try to through the activity feed. I also do have it so all cheers/bits are shown in the alertbox. I've even went through the trouble of setting up an entirely new alertbox, only for the same thing to happen. I've even had SE Part and Join the channel again, to no avail. Anybody recommend any other troubleshooting that I can do?

In the streamelements browser, I'm setting up tip chat alerts, and to the left of each message, there is a box labeled "amount". Is there a way to have it show the message for all amounts? I don't want the alert to only show up in chat if someone tips a certain amount. Now I've made sure it's the right SE overlay by moving things around and having those changes reflect in OBS after saving, however for some reason the count for Followers will not reflect accurately on any of the scenes that use this SE overlay.

Here is a screen shot for reference/clarification, showing both the Stream Elements Overlay Editor being captured from my Desktop, and the OBS overlay just below it, with the wrong Follower Count "friends" being shown.

I do not have any goals set up, and the issue only started after updating a lot of my scenes both in OBS and SE.

  1. In OBS, click the Help menu
  2. Select Crash Reports and then Upload Last Crash Report
  3. Copy the URL and paste it to the chat here.

Note: If you are not able to follow the above steps, open your file explorer and go here: %appdata%\obs-studio\crashes and provide the last listed file.

  1. Uninstall SE.Live and OBS Studio completely, but leave this unchecked https://i.imgur.com/LBaHgM1.png
  2. Download and install OBS Studio from https://obsproject.com/
  3. If it doesn't crash, install SE.Live too.

  • It's fixed? Nice!

  • It crashes again?

  1. Repeat steps 1 and 2
  2. Duplicate the current "Scene Collection" at the very top of OBS, call it something like "Backup" and remove all browser sources in that backup
  3. Install SE.Live and see if it still crashes
  • If yes, repeat steps 1 and 2, leave SE.Live uninstalled, tell us that it didn't work and use your old default scene collection again.

If you're experience the duplicate "Start Streaming" button, "StreamElements" menu, or other duplicate buttons for the latest version of SE.Live, Please download and install OBS Studio from https://obsproject.com/

If an install of OBS already exist, please install over the existing OBS installation.

Hiya, sorry if this is the dumbest question but when I was testing an overlay, it came out on the page all blank, and I thought it was just a browser glitch (I use opera GX) so I tested it in OBS but it didn't load or anything, is this a bug or am I just being real dumb?

  1. Right-click your OBS desktop shortcut (not the SE.Live shortcut) and navigate to Properties
  2. In the Target field, add the following to the very end: --remote-debugging-port=40404 (don't forget to add a space before the current path)

  6. Click on >> in top right above the code and select Console - https://imgur.com/a/Xh6zc6A
  7. Type the following into the console and hit enter: store.customBot.removeCustomBotIntegration()
  8. Try setting the custom bot name, make sure you follow these steps: https://support.streamelements.com/en/articles/53-creating-a-custom-bot-name-with-se-live
  9. Remove the flag added in step 2 from your shortcut properties
