All of my alert durations are set to 10 seconds and youtube memberships work perfectly fine, it's only superchats. if your using chrome, turn off ur adblocker for login page that pops up in ur browser when u click the twitch login icon, the page url should start with something like id.streamelements.com and turn it off for id.twitch.com as well. the most adblockers are causing an issue with the login page that pops up, seeing it i guess as some kind of ad popup and blocks its reporting back to the SE.live plugin that u successfully logged in.

If you are using another browser other than chrome, the built the plugin to have max compatibility with chrome, so its likely the browser ur using causing the issue, or the adblocker in it if it has one.

I disabled my adblocker for those two sites and it worked just fine for me when i had the same issue

I made a GrabTap account out of curiosity a while ago and when I started streaming, it seems to have set up an automatic timer bot with streamelements that keeps spamming my chat to "check out my grabtap page".
I never set up this timer, and when I check my timers in streamelements, it is not there either, so I cannot disable it.
If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it.

If you want that dock some where there is couple options. First you can double click that white borderterrieri where is that dock name it will go automaticly somewhere on obs where it was last time. • is hard capping my frame rate to 160 with a 165 hz monitor in the NVIDIA control panel effect both streaming, recording, and playing (if I could get that amount of frames)? I am not sure if it's trying to send a theoretical 160 FPS but only displaying 60 FPS.
• I'd prefer to go back to 4k if possible, I think I did fix something in my BIOS, it helped a bit, but that's playing at 1440p and recording at 1080p

I think when doing scaling, you should be doing 1080p >> 4k or 720p >> 1440p if I'm not mistaken because they are divisible. but I don't quite know how it would punnish the GPU.

twitch and kick should reuse the same encode, so 1x 1080p60 + 2x 1440p60 + 1x 720p60 (vertical)
calculating 1080p equivalents of your other resolutions..
2x 1440p60 is equivalent to 3.56x 1080p60, and 720p60 is less than half of 1080p60, so our total is the equivalent of..
3.56 + 0.5 + 1 = 5.06x 1080p60, or about 303 FPS at 1080p

the enhanced broadcasting beta could be beneficial, which requires choosing "twitch", but with that many encodes, i don't know if you'll have enough performance headroom to afford it, the enhanced broadcasting beta is designed to use up nearly 100% of available encoder throughput, so i doubt you'll be able to use it, so choose whatever's more convenient

game capture should be used whenever it can be, but some games intentionally block it, use display capture or window captrue in that case

ideally, you should game at 120 hz 120 fps and stream at 60, this will minimize performance issues for both you and the broadcast, and also improve perceived smoothness (if you do this, allow up to 30 minutes for your perception to adjust)

if your gpu usage never spikes above 90% at 4k, go ahead and do that, but if it does, reduce graphics settings and/or your FPS limit until you no longer spike above 90%, every spike is a potential stutter on your broadcast and recording outputs

When using the AV1 codec it seems to cut the bitrate requirements a LOT (for obvious reasions if you're familiar with AV1. It's about the same as 4k 60FPS ends up being ~1080p 60FPS 8k bitrate)

if you want to test without appearing live, tick "bandwidth test mode" in settings>stream for twitch, and use an unlisted or private broascast for youtube

twitch and kick should reuse the same encode, so 1x 1080p60 + 2x 1440p60 + 1x 720p60 (vertical)
I could do something like:

• 1x 1080p 60 (Twitch & kick using the same encode)
• 1x 4k 60 (Youtube stream & local record using the same AV1 encode)
• 1x 4k 60 (Playing a game using it's own encode)
• 1x 720p60 (Youtube vertical using it's own AV1 encode)

Is that the basic theory so I can run those tests? Or did I get something wrong?

4k gaming and streaming will incur higher gpu usage and hardware encoder usage, equivalent to..
2x 4k60 + 2x 1080p60 + 1x 720p60 ..
8 + 2 + 0.5 = 10.5x 1080p60 encodes, or ~630 fps at 1080p
this is possible, but very close to maximum throughput even with some optimizations, you may have to use nvenc h264 with the baseline profile, which has the highest throughput by far but also the least efficient compression

i should have pulled out calculator again, i can't even 60 * 10.5 without it ._.

I don't know what canvas to use, that's kind of the MAIN question, but since I'm using SE.Live I just wasn't sure exactly how the encoder worked.
It almost sounds like if rendered something at 1080p 60 I could send it out to everything as long as I had bandwidth.
or is it just "canvas" based, like "as long as it uses the same canvas it should use the same encode" kinda thing

@pearl iris game capture only cares about what resolution your game is running at, even if it spans multiple displays (like with some racing sims)
display capture cares about the display's resolution, but only the display it's capturing, other displays don't need to be 16:9
if you're capturing any non-16:9 content, you'll have to decide what to do with that, whether it's cropping, letterboxing, or something else

youtube has some tweaks specfically for 4:3 and ultrawide content, but other platforms don't, so 16:9 is preferable

obs-studio will only report its "main" outputs in the Stats window; for multistreaming outputs, you'll likely have to stop the output and view the log file to see if there were any performance issues (ctrl+F search the log file for "encoding lag", "rendering lag)"

multistreaming is still very new and getting answers like "i want to run 5 encodes, will my encoder be fast enough?" currently involves trying it out and seeing how much it can take before everything starts to stutter

i recall running a similar related benthmark, how many videos i can decode at 1080p before the hardware decoder says no, that was with a gtx 1080ti
it gave out much sooner than i expected, only 7 or 8 encodes at 1080p 24 fps - but that could have been caused by me using dxva2-copy instead of d3d11va, so the bottleneck may have been DRAM bandwidth

this is part of why i play at 1440p 120 fps, anything higher gets increasingly more expensive and more difficult to achieve, most of my games would never run at 240

Hi, yes, YouTube actually detects whether you're doing a regular live stream or Shorts (vertical) based on the canvas size. So it's normal to have two YouTube streams that appear identical (both horizontal), because you only need to send one of the streams vertically to do both a regular YouTube stream and Shorts at the same time. And if you only want to do one of the two, you just keep one active YouTube stream (it doesn't matter which one) and that's it, but you can't delete the other one; it will always be there automatically (that's what support explained to me).

No, it's not! I'm having the same problem; I had to disable the plugin for it to stop. In a conversation with support on X, they said the problem was with OBS, but the logs clearly show the problem is the plugin, which even after the last update continues to cause problems and has brought other issues (there are more complaints here on Discord). I currently have an Elgato HD60s+ and that only captures 60fps and I would like to stream some FPS or shooters. @quaint compass want to record at frame rates higher than 60? the "elgato 4k60pro mk2" and the "avermedia gc573" can capture 1080p at 240 fps, or 1440p at 120 or 144 fps, and capture losslessly (rgb or yuv444), both are pci-e capture cards, there are some usb options as well that require a 5 Gbps or better usb port, such as the "elgato 4k x"
a single pc setup is cheaper, but i observed some issues with both game capture and display capture; for example, skyrim special edition, terraria, and most fighting games seem to dip below 120 fps at least occasionally, when recording at 1440p 120 fps

Thank you! I was just trying to capture at 1080 144hz. I was just hoping I didn't have to get a new motherboard because then I will need to get a few other things. From my research, an internal capture card won't work with my H310-A PRO. From what I can tell, the motherboard won't support the pci-e and the gpu but I could be wrong

have you tried recording in a single pc setup? most modern PCs should be fast enough to handle that, at least for older games or with lower graphics settings

i was able to confirm that a few select games have performance issues when recording them with game capture or display capture sources, so a capture card is a valid purchase if you're affected by this

Yeah everyone I think lol at least a good number are having this issue. I have been having great success using File - > Exit instead of the Close button. Now on launch I dont get the crash dialog. It also loads OBS/SE panels faster.

If thats the only one having issues I'd say set Twitch to be your default in OBS settings and multi to YT and whatever else your using. I have Twitch set as the default in OBS settings and haven't had issues connecting it there.

The issue I had initially was that both YT Vertical and YT Horizontal were using the same stream token. So whichever canvas connected first would take up the stream key. The solution I found was to create a second stream key within YT and label it something like Shorts so you know. Then in OBS/SE under broadcast settings when going live, under your YT shorts Canvas select the new shorts key you created earlier and they should host to two separate streams simultaneously. I don't know if that'll solve your issue but it has been smooth sailing once I figured that out.

Same problem here, it was solved after I removed the plugin and went through FILE -> EXIT, but it doesn't work for everyone. They simply abandoned the plugin. Hi there, I'm using SE.Live for my streams with OBS Studio. I'm streaming racing sims on my sim rig on a 21:9 screen and open world games on my desk on a 16:9 screen. Ok so I'm not the only one. I have the same issue on Mac. Opens up in Safari and I get the blank screen. I tried copying the link over to Brave and it does the same thing.

According to their support portal, they have this to say about it:

Users of Chromium-based browsers are experiencing a black screen when attempting to log in to SE.Live, likely due to a blockage in the redirection process. Google Chrome, however, has not reported any issues.

Solution:

Close your current browser.
Open a Google Chrome window.
Disable any active VPN or ad-blocking extensions (such as Nord and uBlock).
Attempt to log in to SE.Live again.
Making Chrome your default browser may also help resolve the issue.

I have problems with some subsciber-alters. The Test from Streamelements works, but a real Sub does not trigger an Alert... Follower-Alerts or Cheers are working, Subscriber-Alerts are not.

Another minor issue: If you're like me, you often click the X in Windows to close an application. If you're seeing the "OBS Studio did not properly shutdown" message when restarting SE Live, make sure you exit OBS via File -> Exit. That stops the message for me. I hope it does for you, too.

Im not sure whats exactly going on but my upload and download is fine, my PC is more then capable of being able to stream and play at the same time ( being able to do it before today) but today when i start my stream, i immediately drop frames and the connection meter is in the red. i'm no expert but i know some things - what if you take the logs from your obs session where you added your docks then closed it - then the logs from the next session with the did not shut down correctly and see if theres anything in there (or upload the txt files to chatgpt and get it to analyse it instead lol)

As far as the stream info, I think you have to set each one of them separately (unless I'm missing something about the whole StreamElements environment)

for the longest time, many plugins had a tendency to crash obs-studio on exit if you used a mismatched obs-studio version, and recently obsproject started more aggressively pointing out that something's wrong and encourage users to complain about issues; expect a few months or years of being nagged about crashes until eventually most of them would get resolved

I recall ~6 years ago I heard about .webm for the 1st time and they said it was "heavy on the CPU" but if you have enough overhead it's best to use it because you want as much vram on your graphics card going towards gaming + streaming + recording at the same time.

I find that I have a TON of extra CPU utilization but get choked up on my 4090 if it's a high intense game (for obvious reasons).

I just don't recall where I heard that information from or if it's actually true or not lol.

@pearl iris if by mp4 you mean h264+aac, and by webm you mean vp9+opus/vorbis, if hardware decoding is used, it largely doesn't matter, but if software decoding is used, you could save some CPU cycles by using h264 baseline profile, at the cost of less efficient compression, but if you need alpha transparency, you'll have to use webm;
if these will be played by obs-studio's media source, qtrle in the mov container is preferred, it uses the least amount of CPU cycles and supports transparency

also, cpu usage and gpu usage are not equal; when games need cpu time, they need it as soon as possible, so high background cpu usage will affect your games negatively; background gpu usage from apps like vtube studio or nvidia broadcast largely won't interfere with gaming as long as total gpu usage is 90% or less

My GPU gets to like a solid 97% a lot of the time which is why I ask (it's overclocked with custom fan profiles)

I'm pretty sure I have a bottleneck somewhere, I am just not sure where yet.

Unfortunately with youtube and how it works there's not much you can do if stuff breaks/behaves poorly.

Outside of making the customizations you can see in the editor beforehand you can't do anything else short of going live.

I was using "advanced" mode, with everything already set up. Infact it worked for a year until a week ago, when I enabled the Enhanced Broadcasting and I switched to SE multistream. I went back to previous multistream plugin but still didn't work, so I was thinking it was the enhancement

If you have TEB enabled then anything outside of VOD tracks for that is ignored by twitch.

Based on the fact that you're streaming on youtube you're unfortunately a bit on the unlucky side as there'ss a delay between when someone subscribes and when you would get the alert.

That's assuming they have their subscriptions set to public otherwise you won't get any alert at all.

However, the bot is both not banned in my stream and is currently modded

Hi there! I'm using the Prize Wheel by pjonp. My friend and I are trying to set it up to spin when a specific itme is redeemed from my stream store. We've been able to get the wheel to spin automatically for subs, tips, bits, etc, but we can't figure it out for store redemptions. SE provides a widget for redemptions, but there isn't an editor for that widget.

That's new then. I have always been able to test/emulate alerts from within the overlay editor on streamelements .com... Even going in there now to create a full new overlay and add a generic Alertbox. Emulating from in there does nothing...

also in the Dashboard for SE you can Replay an event such as a follow, sub, bit, raid, even merch...

Emulating alerts is entirely different than alerts not working. Live alerts should be fixed. For emulated alerts, ensure the "preview live on stream" box is checked, the overlay has been saved and then added to OBS, logout of the website and log back in. If that doesn't fix it, you'll need to submit a ticket.

Heya, I am at my wit's end and I am not sure what to do.

I installed Stream Elements and managed to get it to run just fine.
However, everytime I close my OBS it recognizes the closure as a crash. It does not seem to have any adverse effect other than not remembering what scene collection I had opened last.

I don't want it to crash every single time so I'd like to know if anyone else has had this and whether they managed to fix it.

The crash report says that libcef.dll crashed.
I am on windows and both my system, obs and stream elements are all fully updated.

@surreal sage plugins are built for specific obs-studio versions, using a mismatched obs-studio version risks crashing obs-studio (most commonly on exit); recent versions of obs-studio started more aggressively notifying users of crashes so that they'd report them instead of ignoring them;
on your end, the best move would be to make a backup of your settings (File > Show settings folder), so you'd be able to restore them in the event of data loss, and report any crashes you have, otherwise they won't get fixed
(also, i checked out your channel and found a cover of Monitoring, i like it)

plugins can also be unstable inherently, which seems to be the case with se.live; i made a "clean" install of se.live version which automatically chose to install se.live v25.9.3.493 and obs-studio 31.1.2 - i presumed those are known to be compatible and should be stable, but i was wrong, it started crashing on exit after signing in and adding new multistream outputs and a second canvas, i hear the aitum vertical canvas and aitum multistream plugins are a lot more stable, but i've not tried them myself

@surreal sage your other plugins are not known to cause crashes, so currently the biggest suspect would be se.live

the low effort option here would be to backup your settings and revert to the backup if the need arises, it's unlikely to cause any major issues, but you will be notified of crashes on every launch;
the high effort option here would be to make a new portable obs-studio install and set up aitum vertical canvas and aitum multistream, they seem very stable

crashes on exit is something people have been ignoring for years now, obs-studio only recently started more aggressively notifying users "something is wrong, report this", which pissed off quite a few people, but also led to some of those issues getting resolved properly

Users can choose to make the channels that they subscribe to public or private. By default, all settings are set to private.

Private: When a users subscriptions are set to private, no other user can see what channels they subscribe to. A user's account does not show in a channel's Subscribers List, even if they are subscribed.
Public: When users subscriptions are set to public, another user can see what channels they subscribe to. User subscriptions are listed on their channel page, and their account is listed in the Subscribers List for any channel they subscribe to.

I have seen things for other multistreaming plugins that need you to schedule a stream on youtube for it to start but is it the same on SE.Live? or is there a setting in youtube I need to turn on?

hey all im running into a weird issue with my streamelements, which may be an OBS issue but im not sure where to ask those. essentially monitor audio from my elgato starts out normal, but slowly develops a delay over the course of a few minutes that gets worse and worse. i have tried things like disabling the high precision event timer in windows, but it is still happening and getting worse. its extra anoying because this is the audio i use any time i game on a console at my PC desk

since the last update my obs doesnt pick up any sound from my (i think monitored) sound sources anymore. my mic works but my virtual audio cables etc dont. i already tried an older obs version but nothing is working q_q (i am now running 31.1.2, tried all till up to the newest)
i use voice meeter banana (to split audio, spotify etc) and 2 virtual audio cables. i can hear every sound normal, just obs doesnt pick anything up anymore.
i also double checked everything in windows etc all the right sources are selected. any idea what the issue could be?
