I disengage the moment I get locked on. If the lock-on is cancelled before missiles, I know its a SOFLAM. SOFLAM lasts for about 15 seconds iirc.

80% of my deaths in the nightbird are either reporting for duty with stinger and dont be sad this is just how it works out sometimes with soflam and recoilless and supply crate combo

Locking on spots you on the minimap. I wait out the SOFLAM and then start hunting the person who locked on me.

Best way to counter it would be to move position while Im disengaging.

Tbh I preferred BF3 flow to 4, felt like BF4 movement didn't age very well. They did a very good job with stuff like sliding, vaulting, auto-bipod etc with BF1 and later perfected it with BFV

so against jets its mostly a game of luck, also another tip is NEVER ENGAGE A MV-38 or HIND DIRECTLY WITH A JET, engage those transports from far with lock-ons so the miniguns dont butcher you, also the transport heli's miniguns are twice as powerful as the normal ones on the nightbird so the transports with just 1 minigun is about as powerful as a nightbird, and with 2 miniguns you dont stand a chance

I usually win dog-fights against transport helis. But a transport heli with a good passenger gunner completely destroys me every time.

I feel like BF1/5 movement felt good since it fit with the time period better, it felt more fluid since the soldiers carried a lot less. If BF2042 had BF5's movement it would feel extremely floaty

most of the time the transport heli gunners are next level pros so most of the time your not gonna be engaging those transports unless your in a jet

'Most of the time' is a bit inaccurate tbh. They usually suck in my experience. But a transport heli with good people in it will basically own the lobby AND have air superiority.

the lobbies i join are transport heli dominated, all of em have 50mm cannons, all of em have miniguns with aimbot level accuracy and 1 guy repairing, literally no counter to them even with the jets

I've had a few games where I get killed by the same Condor over and over again throughout the whole game. And the pilot getting 100+ assists at the end of round screen.
