What background tasks do you have open? Even just having the browser open takes precious CPU resources that may be slowing down the game. If all else fails try and verify your game files, and if that doesn't work try uninstalling/reinstalling the game. If that fails i'd suggest playing through GFN, or moving on to greener pastures lol.

Teoubleshooting is very difficult when the only feedaback you get is "i have x graphic card, whats the problem". Problems could be legio: not enough ram, old ass cpu, psu being old and or not delivering enough voltage, concurrent running programs, laptop or tower, etc

True, it does depend on playstyle. But not as much as classes imo. Like if you wanted to be a Sniper you simply chose recon. The gadgets kinda came 2nd priority, it was mainly the gun. Now in 2042 if you wanna be a Sniper you choose the Sniper rifle but now you just choose whatever is the absolute most powerful specialist (with minor playstyle consideration imo since there's other variables that can be customized to soothe that itch) for that one op gadget then pick whatever other "legacy" gadget you want in addition to that without it being limited to a class as well. You can take advantage of it too. Since the Incoming Rocket doesn't tell you if there's more than one rocket. So throw an Anti-Armor and then use AA Rocket

I find the easiest way to counter those is keep them away from you with your 30mm and rely on using the range to use your AAs
