It was only around 2016 that I started playing BF4, and I remember like it was yesterday that the first map I played was Dawnbreaker. Recently, I bought a relatively good PC, so now I’m mainly playing the new game

There are benefits to Windows, indeed. Its widespread use definitely gives it an edge in terms of developer preference. However, with compatibility layers such as Proton allowing me to play most of my library that wouldn't already support Windows, combined with my growing preference toward Linux based operating systems (namely, Arch Linux), Windows is falling more out of favor to me as time goes on.

I've not found myself limited by the operating system. The only real limit is game compatibility, which is improving in increments as Valve has committed to Linux compatibility, among other developments. This is something I hope EA DICE considers with the next Battlefield title, if nothing else.

Every game tries to add the new next big feature tho, never quite perfecting everything that made the past game great.

The only games that were evolutions from one game to the next was bf3 to Bf4. I personally wish we just got evolution on what BF4 was. But era hopping back to WW1, then to WW2 just stopped that from happening. Even if BF1 has the core parts of what I loved about BF4 (Land, sea and air combat)

Gameplay aside, hell even just having the next game let me play it easier would do a lot for how much I play.

I basically don't play 2042 at all outside of FNB because I simply cannot choose what I want to play, when I want to play it.

I mainly like conquest, but I dont play because when I jump on solo, I get thrown around into random lobbies for every game, never getting to play with the same squad/players in back to back games.

In past games, you'd have persistent lobbies, play with the same squad or players in a map rotation and even be able to make/add friends while playing.

I don't think random matchmaking should disappear, it's fine for those who want it for a quick drop in/out game. I just think it's shouldnt be the default behavior.

I also like multi objective sectors, it's just executed horribly in 2042. Both functionally and the scoring wise in conquest it is awful.

Like...why does capturing a neutral sector at the start of a game remove enemy tickets? That's just wrong. You should only remove tickets (if at all) if you neutralize an enemy flag and cap it for your team.

Personally, I'd get rid of ticket bleed on sector cap, and instead reimplement the squad score for callings we HAD in BFV. Go back to the majority holder bleeding g the enemy teams tickets.

Ticket removal on sector cap is such a terrible concept.

That's not to say that BF2042 is a bad game in a vacuum. It can be fun in its own merits. But as I've mentioned before, the games that preceded it are much better and more polished games (obviously due to getting the same treatment post launch).

But even then, those games got polished better than BF2042 did.

There is literally no such thing as a comeback from a significant losing position by design in 2042 conquest. If you end up 1000 tickets to 500 (as an example) you have just lost.

Versus in past games where your team at least knows if you get and maintain the flag majority for multiple minutes, you can fight your way back to victory.

2042 is like...yes you fought your way back and now have 6/8 flags, but in the process the enemy capped flags 20 times back and forth, so you both lost 200 tickets, as well as the bleed from flag majority

So while you now have flag majority, you started off 500-1000,but are now at 300-800. Worse off as you are 200 tickets closer to losing.
