Yeah , this is the problem. You choose the suport class with a sniper weapon. Now you have ilimited ammo with a long range weapon. This is perfect for campers

Weapon restrictions are also a way they make class gadgets/roles less spammy. If you want ammo boxes or strong indirect gadgets you should be “relegated” to LMGs. If you want passive/active spotting gadgets, you should be “relegated” to snipers/DMRs, so on so forth

And just so they can avoid the whole ‘but people will play this class and not do it’s role’ thing, simply keep the ability to take ammo/heals off medics/supports

People want a “return to form” game with legacy features and design choices. Not only is it just tradition to lock weapons to classes I personally believe they highlight the roles of them as well. You shouldn’t have access to grenade launchers unless you’re support/assault, spotting abilities unless you’re recon, and then you should also be forced to play the appropriate guns for that general role. ARs/shottys/SMGs for assault makes sense, LMGs/shottys for support, so on so forth

There’s not really any strong foundation for trying to reinvent the wheel because I think the only reason unlocked weapons exist is cause they cane alongside unlocked gadgets when that was a thing in 2042, whatever dice was thinking with that move. TLDR don’t fix what isn’t broken
