I liked all BF’s when they came out. I only go back to V. 2042 was like “is this an alien planet” things have progressed. I remember angling the camera on the first Lara Croft for a good boob angle. Labs and beta is two identities. Think of the labs like BF4 CTE

We don't consider Labs testing Beta, as a lot of the things we are testing would be in an alpha state in many ways. The builds are not as polished as what you've seen in Open Beta, to allow for more and quicker adjustments in dev time. And some things you see in Labs might not make it to live, etc.

No cellphone reception, no internet, just a campfire, a snow igloo, a snowmobile and a vast wasteland of snow.

Open Weapons provides for sub-classes that Dice refuses to use the specialty system to truly implement, while closed weapons leaves it to the whims of Dice for a one-size-fits-all of broad role types.

A Medic with an LMG makes no sense as an example, does not matter that a Battlefield in antiquity did it too.

Though allowing something like a sniper on any class other than recon leads to abuse of mechanics and useless teammates("Medic," Snipers).

I advocate for open solely on the grounds that the agency it provides with sub-classes is simply not replicated and is not likely to be replicated for the closed weapon system of BF6, despite the specialty system they already are using for various role types.

The sniper with support is the specific case I see 70% of the time, with non combat focused classes with ARs as the other 30%, so I deem it fairly easy to do if those are considered the main offenders.

A bit of an example with Support:
Medics--Pistol and maybe smg with the benefit of more nades, faster speed, health kit, whatever else.

But Dice specifically wants Support to be the suppressing fire class per their own words, even though Medic is rolled into that class and is one of the specialties. Yet in closed weapons they are stuck with an LMG, and are losing out on a potential weapon buff because they use something making more sense for the Medic playstyle.

For supports I'd probably give them smgs and lmgs as their speciality weapons, since that then fits the close up medic and more retreated ammo guy playstyle into one class, which it will do well.

Once they get APS they'll be great at both pushing up and making safe pockets of space, which makes both weapon types very apt and then leave room for personal choice while maintaining the goals of the kit

But yeah, the meta weapon argument can be slung at closed weapon systems too, which to me makes it very much worse since people will en masse choose a role already barely played properly and not play it even more. Imagine if there was a Medic-locked Meta gun in BF6, most BF6 Medics already did not revive, now there would be double not doing so instead of being engineer where maybe they were useful, or assault to be their protagonist roleplay, or recon.
