Standard is mostly just for farming and grass can grow in basically any spot, forest offers ~8 hardwood stumps daily, and forage can spawn on the map

Yes, feel free to explore it a bit but ultimately you want to reach lv100. You do this by having lots of stairs and bombs (and a good weapon). In the meantime try to dive to lv30 or so to get resources

Okay, your experience is your experience, I can't speak to that. But if a new player feels like picking riverland, I don't see a problem there since almost universally we all fuck up our first farms in terms of max production. It really doesn't matter.

If you want a "guide" to help you get started heres a few things i can think of

• Plant your parsnips and save at least 1 of em
• Use the money you'll get from those parsnips(they'll be ready on the 5th it you plant them on the first day) on more parsnips, Cauliflower, potatoes, and 1 greenbean plant you'll need these to complete "The community Center" which will unlock by day 6
  -from there on i'd use the community center as a guide on what to get during the next season and if you're confused on something you can ask here or on the Wiki

Those are both surface reads. As you interact with Pierre he becomes increasingly odious (taking credit for your work, jealousy of jojamart, etc). Similar but opposite with shane as you befriend him he becomes more likable
