You can use sap to make fertiliser and later on in the game if you get a slime hutch you’ll be able to use the slime to make eggs and sell them.

They’re much more worth keeping

Sap you need only just a max of 2 stacks at all times. Slime is useful for oil maker machine crafting, and that's it, but people usually just do botanist and sell truffles raw. It's up to you. Monster loot keep for crafting/gifting/questing

the reason being basic sprinklers are accessible at farming level 2
quality sprinklers are accessible at farming level 6

there's a gap between these 2 levels, and early game time/energy is very precious so it's worth investing in them to save on your time/energy so you can be off doing other things
