yes, frontier is the "default" recommendation for SVE, but there's also a 3rd option, IF2 - immersive farm remastered which is huge, i've not used that myself before

is that most mod devs aren't game devs
as such, they don't have a firm grasp of proper game balance and gameplay loops

which really shows in all of the "QoL" mods that are just blatant power creep poorly disguised as QoL improvements
either that, or what they add doesn't integrate well with the core gameplay feel, and either feels jarring, or completely alters the game away from what it originally was

now, all that to say, I don't think any of that is wrong per se

as of 1.5 they're completely based on seed, how many geodes you've opened, and maybe days played i forgot; if you have two types of geodes and open them in a different order, you'll get different items
i don't know if that changed in 1.6 without legacy rando, but i assume it's similar so you can't reset days and brute force omnis for a prismatic shard
