however, if you want to marry someone and focusing on that, then u do need at least 1 house upgrade, so if you're rushing for that then that'd be worth it

or buy the iridium rod at level 6 fishing, and use a tackle like trap bobber to slow it from escaping

or if u don't want to deal with it just yet, befriend linus and there's a chance he can send you 1 in the mail (as long as he sends you a gift, any gift, u can reset the day until you get the catfish; higher friend higher chance of mail)
