I choose fruit bats over mushrooms because:
-botanist makes iridium fruit gifting much easier than waiting 4 whole years for iridium fruit trees (3 villagers also have loved gifts for specific fruit. 4 if you include wild plums for Jas' plum pudding. Everyone else likes them)
-makes CC/shipping easier
-eat fruits for energy early game (same could be said for mushrooms, I just like fruit more since every single type could be eaten)
-small storage space for late game. I usually put my ||garden pots|| in here
-mushroom logs make fruit bats even more appealing since you already have another source to get mushrooms easier. Just because mushroom cave comes with a free dehydrator, still doesn’t make it worth it for me personally, but I also just grow crops for kegs so a free dehydrator could be useful early game if you wanted to grow multiples crops
-dont need to check it as frequently as the mushroom cave so it makes it more flexible for me to spend my time doing other things
-bats are cute & I love them

When new to the game, and around year 1 summer I started getting few thousands of money. Should I immediately spend all of my money to buy crops if I already have like 60ish crops growing at once without sprinklers? Because I think if I get more crops I might end up using the whole day to water, right now its taking me few in game hours. I am upgrading my water can to iron atm. No, ||iridium node||.. You can pretty much force a guaranteed prismatic shard from a mystic node ||in the quarry|| though

% wise I think it's about the best chance. However || You find so many iridium nodes when farming in the skull caverns|| you'll likely get more that way than chances of finding the mystic nodes.

If you don't want to wait around for that. My suggestion would be stocking up on food, bombs to break lots of rocks quickly and trading in extra jade you have for stair cases at || The desert trader || on Sundays. That should help get you further down without needing to fight as much and allow you to access more || Iridium ore nodes ||
