Farming, coops, and barns will be your passive income, while fishing becomes your active income.
In addition to that, when possible, process your goods.

Trees require one tile of space in every direction in order to grow. Normal trees can share a tile, but fruit saplings cannot.
Once fully grown, you are able to place anything next to them. Only non-sapling trees can have paths placed nearby while growing.

the only other reason outside of an auto-feeder why there would be hay left on the tray is because you let them go outside to eat the grass
