Grass spreads from itself slowly over time. If animals are in range to eat it, then it will have a hard time spreading (though them eating it is also good, as it means they won't eat Hay that day)

If you really want to grow your own grass to make hay, you'll need to set aside an area where your animals arent on TILL-ABLE land (it can't spread on the cosmetic grass).

• duggies (the little moles) can drop cherry bombs, which can be useful
• exchange the base sword out as quickly as possible, its litteral garbage
• check the monster slayer goals at the adventureres guild for solid rewards
• go on neutral luck days or better for best ore and progress results, worse luck leads to more monsters and less progression (luck can be checked by checking the TV in the morning and selecting "fortune teller")

You can buy most of the fish needed from the traveling cart, which comes on Fridays and Sundays and can be found at the top left of cindersap forest, fishing also gets easier as you level up (level boosting foods can be bought at the saloon and willys fish shop randomly), and fishing up trash from the fountain or doing crab pots after reaching level 2 can give you easier fishing EXP

The crab pot bundle can also largely be foraged, with the help of the crab who can be found from rock crabs in the mines
