Look at the weather report on the TV. If tomorrow is a rainy day, then use your watering can for what you need today and then go upgrade it. You won't need it the next day and then you can pick it up the following morning and use it.

a tip is to plant grass underneath fences, so the animals can't eat it. the grass can then be spread without you having to plant a fresh batch
