You can either craft them, though its a bit expensive, (4 iron ore each for a regular bomb, plus some coal), or buy them at the dwarf's shop after you have gotten all dwarf scrolls.
• Staircases are your best friends! Don't craft them though, get as many jade crystalariums you can get (one from a bundle reward, the rest, you'll need to get a bit down in the caverns sadly). You can trade jade for staircases at the desert trader on sundays!
• Food. Food, is very important. You want to take 3 slots for food in the sc. You want spicy eels (can be traded at the desert trader for 1 ruby), for food and luck, and also, Id suggest triple shot expressos. (buy coffee from gus, then use the kitchen to make the expressos, its 3 coffees per expresso.). Food and beverage buffs stack. Next, you need healing food, and its important, that healing food does not give you buffs otherwise it will take away the current buffs. What you use for healing food, is upto you, just anything you can get a lot of. Cheese heals a lot, so its usually considered one of the best options.
• Go on either a super luck day, or maybe a good luck day. Anything below that, may as well not go to the SC.
• In order to go deep, don't wait for Pam. Get desert warp totems instead. You can trade 3 omni geodes for one totem at the desert trader.
• your main goal is to get as down as possible. Don't get distracted by that sweet sweet gold vein, just find the ladders or holes in the ground as fast as you can, and go. The only things worth looting are iridium nodes. Though, if its too tempting, you can use bombs.
• Don't stress too much! Simple tip, but is just true.
• This one is for the mobile users, but the serpents can become trivial to deal with, just by going in the direction of them, they have a large hitbox. ||

Preparation

Preparation starts the day before your dive, not during.

For Food, you'll want three different kinds:

• Regenerates a solid amount of health and/or energy. This will be your main food source. I recommend Salad or Cheese. The former can be purchased at the Saloon for 220g apiece, while you can stockpile a lot of the latter by having Cows.
• A dish that grants a beneficial status effect. The most common and reliable, which I recommend, is Spicy Eel. It grants 7 minutes of Luck +1 and Speed +1. You can get this by ||trading 1 Ruby for 1 Spicy Eel at the Desert Trader at any day||. A more expensive and, frankly, better for late-game option is Magic Rock Candy, from ||trading 3 Prismatic Shards for 1 Magic Rock Candy at the Desert Trader during Sundays||.
• • Speed is crucial during ||SC|| runs. Your time is limited, and moving swiftly, traversing the ||caverns|| is a big deal.
• • Luck impacts your ||SC|| run overall. It's important and is an extremely useful effect.
• A drink that grants a beneficial status effect. The effects of two dishes may not stack together, but those of a dish and a drink do. There aren't many good ones, but I recommend Triple Shot Espresso, granting 4 minutes of Speed +1. It can be brewed with 3 Coffee in the kitchen. The recipe can be bought at the Saloon for 5,000g. If not, use regular Coffee, which can be purchased at the Saloon for 300g.

Onto Gear:

• An Iridium Pickaxe is the best tool for manual mining. A Gold Pickaxe can also do the job, but using a Steel Pick or below, you might run into some difficulties. Keep in mind that you will mostly be employing explosives to mine rocks.
• For weapons, a sword is the most beginner-friendly. You can get a guaranteed Obsidian Edge from the treasure chest at the 80th Mines floor. This is a decent weapon, but it's quite slow. If you have the budget, you can purchase a Steel Falchion at the Adventurer's Guild for 9,000g. DO NOT get the Lava Katana, as it is nearly three times as expensive as the Steel Falchion, but still somewhat the same. A run or two in, you will be able to find a Prismatic Shard and get a || Galaxy Sword|| afterwards, and you can simply discard your old sword.
• For actual mining, bombs are your friends. They clear a large chunk of space and can be bought at the Dwarf's Shop. Note that these are pretty expensive. You can alternatively craft them with ore and coal.
• One last thing, Staircases. You can ||trade Jade for Staircases at the Desert Trader during Thursdays||. These are useful and will let you drop down a whole lot of levels.
• • When you enter an infested level, you can swiftly place a Staircase and move down without needing to kill the monsters.
• • Iridium nodes spawn more often the further you go. Placing a lot of Staircases to get a head start down in the ||cavern|| is a good strategy if you want a lot of iridium.

Try to keep your gear and items minimal, as to save space. You'll find a lot of good stuff you want to keep, so don't clutter your inventory.

Just to give you a heads up, corn isnt that great of a money maker. You will want some for the community center, but there are better crops for profit. If you dont care about that go for corn though
