I think immunity is overrated, and defense underrated. You can just avoid enemies that apply debuffs. Defense helps with bomb spam, and faster enemies.

Yeah, 1 defense is 'only 1 less damage', but Space Boots + Crab ring is 9 defense and Shadow Brutes for example do 18, so....half damage.
