If you have the spa area open (happens in the first summer) you can get to the train tracks. Trains will sometimes drop supplies or items but strictly speaking it's not worth the trip. Unless something's changed in 1.6 idk

Some of them make good gifts, a few can be crafted with for decorative items. And some can be used to make clothes.
