Hello welcome in, unfortunately, tilled soil becomes unhoed if you don't plant anything on it. You cant do anything about it

Only way to to prevent it is to plant on it.
If you leave a crop that will die the next season it will leave behind a wilted crop which keeps spots hoed between seasons. (and watered if you have sprinklers)

Yeah, Riverlands is a nightmare for farmers that like their farm to be super organized

Farming plots tend to want to be rectangular in shape because sprinklers, and riverlands really resists that kind of planning

As soon as you are able

When you unlock the artisan processing equipment

i.e. preserves jars, kegs

You'll get there eventually with farming level

That's not a super big deal

But you're pretty close to unlocking kegs

To prepare for when you do, start tapping oak trees and harvesting the oak resin
