It feels like the most obnoxious thing early game is farming pre-sprinklers for most people.
It definite is for me, so I now only farm enough to get level 2 farming and then get basic sprinklers asap to alleviate that.

More consistent food for the early game for me to use and money. Fruitbat cave can be kind of random, but it can help with early bundles. What you choose becomes unimportant as you get to the mid-later stages of the game so it doesn't matter too much in the end.

It's not so much about finding mushroom types as I find the mushroom cave more consistent, than the fruit cave being inconsistent. Also if you're taking it solely for getting all the specific fruit you need, there's no guarantee.
