What I like about sdv is that you can play the game however you like. If you want to ignore fishing, that's perfectly fine. I had a tough time fishing at the beginning, but I usually would try anyway whenever I got bored since all I had to do was bring a fishing rod. Usually for me, doing lot's of clicking yields better results than holding the mouse down (Not saying you are doing this)

Depends on the mods. The game will usually let you actually launch regardless of mod usage, but if one of you has a content mod isntalled, and the others don't, it can cause issues in the areas these mods add content.

If a mod is entirely UI based (like portrait mods, item sprite mods, UI info, etc) it won't matter at all if other players have it.
