I say coop, and then work on better tools whenever. Best time to get animals in my opinion is always in the winter.

You raise them up, and then once released if that animal needs to be outdoors (mainly specifically one animal) for anything good, you already aged that animal up with enough love that it’ll give some good “bonus”
