People often say "The first day doesn't count", but this is a confusing way to explain it.
What it really means is that each season is 27 days for crops, not 28... Since there aren't 28 NIGHTS per season.

Dont over think growth times. Just add the number on the seed pack to the current day.

Yeah lightning does that sometimes in stormy dags. You need lightning rods

For the most part, just play normally.
Though during summer when you ||get the green rain event, use that day to wander around collecting moss. Also, dont underestimate mushroom logs, they're very good||

i love the mushroom cave it’s saving me from having to forage a bunch

I still prefer the fruit cave, but potential early rare mushrooms is very nice

you can get some pretty expensive mushroom powder from the mushroom cave too which is great to sell

Just note the mushroom cave doesn't give forage exp and isn't benefited by forage skill things while the fruit cave does just by nature of how the items spawn in them

Foragable berries, like salmon, black, spice, and plums.
But more notably, and fruit from Fruit Trees occasionally.

As of 1.6 ||the mushroom cave does give xp|| It doesn't benefit from foraging perks though still

And yeah in the fruit cave, fruit spawns the way normal forage does, while in the mushroom cave the boxes act more like machines
