That second point isn't exactly like that. If you have fertilizer on the ground and a crop growing but the crop doesn't grow into the next season, the fertilizer goes away too

For universal loves, you have magic rock candy, pearl, and golden pumpkin (prismatic shard and rabbits foot basically too, but they're each hated for 1 person).
If you want true universal likes, go for diamonds or tree fruits. Diamonds are loved by 8 people and liked by everyeonse else. Tree fruits are liked by everyone, and the only exceptions are some people that love them. Like elliott loving pomegranate, peach for robin, orange for gus

I go with fruit so on I don’t miss anything by swinging by the cave once a week (plus I play on the forest farm so mushrooms spawn more on grass anyway). Bats gives foraging xp and benefits from botanist, fruits can be nice for the artisan bundle and for gifts. The spawn rate isn't very common, but it lets you ignore it for a few weeks and then collect it
Mushrooms are more profitable, but dont give foraging xp. The money from them tho, can help you afford fruit trees. You're gonna need to get an apple tree anyways for the community center cause the fruit cave is not gonna give you 3 apples. It requires harvesting every 2 days to get its full potentatial so it depends on how often you wanna check
