Ok so I don’t remember the exact lore of it but it’s just an abandoned building with “rats” according to Lewis. Upon start you’ll find a little gold box, then once you click on that the wizard will send you a letter the next day.

After talking to him you’ll be able to view the boxes that each contain bundles. Each bundle requires certain items (as I’m sure you know) and putting them in their locks that slot.
Completing each set of bundles - I believe they’re called scrolls - gets you a larger reward. For example, completing the pantry scroll fixes the ruined greenhouse on your farm. A lot of things are season specific or take a lot longer to get so eother do some research, ask somebody here, or find out in game if you’re confused abt a certain item. Idk what else to say
