Heavily recommend either standard or forest. They're great farms, very begginer friendly

Standard is more open and has more space to experiment with. Forest is a bit prettier, but has some less space for crops, tho it gives you extra forageables and hardwood stumps which is really nice

Don't think so. I just don't seem to find snow yams. I know they only appear during winter (which I missed 14 game days ago), but since I got a snow root from the mines. Mahogany seeds take awhile. I fyou have access to it, use tree fertilzer.
The other way to get hardwood is to just go to the secret woods daily to collect it.
