Then, you get into a minigame if you hook a fish where your goal is to keep a green bar behind the fish.
The bar has gravity, and pressing A will move it upwards, but the green bar has some "weight" to it so it's pretty finicky when you are new to fishing.
Not to mention that the fish itself keeps moving around

Also, Willy sells a training rod which could help you get used to how the minigame works, but you can only catch "easy" fish like carps and sunfish with a regular quality. (Some fish move faster or more erratically than others, but the training rod can't hook them so you won't be seeing them)

Real world experience = easier time keeping the bar behind the fish, but still a bit difficult
