It's better for new players to go the CC route. The CC route unlocks things and introduces you to aspects of the game in an orderly, organic progression. It's a de facto game tutorial. You lose all that going the Joja route.
If you buy the Joja membership, the CC will be shut down and turned into a Joja warehouse, so you lock yourself out of the CC route.
