For regular trees, I recommend planting Oak trees to tap for oak resin, maple trees for the syrup if you want to do a lot of bee houses, and mahogany trees for hardwood. For fruit trees, I recommend at least an apple and a pomegranate for community center success, but I typically keep pomegranate and peach as primary fruits early-game.
