Do yourself a favor and take it slower and enjoy it. Only clear the area you need for buildings, animals and crops. Let the rest grow wild with trees and grass, which will give you a steady supply of wood (and seeds) and hay. Blank dirt gives you nothing until you can fill it with something, and that might not happen right away.
Of course, take out the debris and weeds, as these can be destructive.

I always plant my first crops right outside the house so I don't have to walk that far to tend to them, and can start clearing ground slowly in that area. Once I get animals they will go on the OTHER side of the crops to take advantage of all that free grass they can eat. Having the barn/coop up by the house for me means the animals are walking through my crops to get to grass. While they don't destroy anything, they can get in my way and be a bit annoying.

Just play on what feels right and don’t feel pressured of the speed of other players. I always think first playthrough year 1 should be completely blind but there’s a wiki (not completely spoiler free)
