the grass will spread from the rightmost one, but not the left ones. It might appear to not spread because the chickens eat the grass that gets spread.

animals need to stand on top of the grass tile to eat that grass, so putting an object in that tile prevents them from eating that specific grass. If the grass is on tillable soil, it'll spread outwards, providing a relatively stable source of food for the animals. But it may not appear to spread, because the animal eats the spread grass

I prefer mushrooms because they’re much more predictable. Just because bats drop off fruit doesn’t mean you will get fruit that is useful to you. I just got the foragable fruit every time with the two files I went bats. So overall mushrooms are probably more useful

Personally I don’t think they’re essential to grow in year 1. By the time you can purchase the seeds spring is half way over. What’s better is to buy a few of the seed packs year 1, then plant them on spring 1 year 2 or plant them in the green house when it’s usable

Not really any trick to it, just plant lots of crops. Some crops are better xp than others, but usually not by much. So just stick to fields of good profit crops.

If you haven't already, invest time into making sprinklers. They allow you to more reasonably have larger plots of crops without spending time and energy on them.

Crossplay is not currently possible with Stardew Valley, and it is unknown if it ever will be. According to ConcernedApe there are technical barriers that make it unfeasible. He would like to add it and may start looking into how to do it but currently it is not implemented.
