Miner > either tbh but blacksmith for money, However, the other branch for gemologist can be good.
Fisher > either, pirate if you're fishing for artifacts
For combat, either branch has its benefits depending on what type of weapon you prefer using. For swords it's best to go fighter, for hammer it's best to go scout and then acrobat.

I will note that for foraging the wood side isn't bad, it's just that many people like the nice money botanist makes for truffles as well as saved inventory space on the forageables bc no more difference in quality.

the mines! you can go in, break all the ores and kill dust sprites, go up to ground floor and repeat

for coal, go to levels 40+ to kill these things

for copper ore, my preferred method is spamming floor 21

it's best to have some food with you at all times (it can be foraged stuff like salmonberries at first, next you'll be able to craft field snacks or buy food if you can afford it). it helps greatly to progress in the mines
