Keep at it. The game starts out slow and you have to work at building momentum. There's no rush; you won't miss anything by taking it slower.

If you’re set on starting a new farm, I recommend selling your parsnip seeds, then buying potato seeds. Re-plant after every harvest until it’s the egg festival.

At the egg festival, using the money you got from potatos, you should buy strawberries.

Selling your parsnip seeds is not a good idea. You can buy 3 whole potato seeds with that money, which will give you 240 base price upon selling, maybe an extra potato for 320.
15 parsnips sell for for 35 each, base price, for a total of 525, which you wouldn't surpass even if you managed to get VERY lucky and get 6 potatoes.

Watch the TV every morning before you leave the house. It will give you game tips and recipes.
When it tells you that salmonberry season has started, go out every day of the season (15-18) and gather as many salmonberries as you can by shaking the bushed with pink dots on them. You can literally get hundreds of berries.
Now these berries aren't worth selling, but they make a pretty good early-game food source to keep your energy up so you can get a LOT more done on the farm and grow more crops. Not to mention keeping your health up for when you go mining.\

In SDV, the best defense is a good offense. If you hit them before they hit you, you wont take damage (usually)

equip faster weapons, and spam them when enemies approach

@ambersgone for one, there are technical considerations: Stardew uses peer to peer multiplayer, there is no central server, so someone's phone would have to host the game. Also, the multiplayer version of the game has worse performance which is significant for many phones

Year 1 I highly recommend Cranberries.

you'll only have to plant them once, and you'll make a ton of money off their sale (be sure to make regular fertilizer for them (2sap per)).

Being that you wont have to replant the cranberries, you can spend a lot more time doing other things in fall.

But I would also plant like 20-30 pumpkins and 20-30 corn if you can because you'll want 5 gold quality of each for the CC bundle

but technically you could break a different type of geode and then the geode you want to get a different item in the order

for example if you break a magma geode right now and you get clay, but on the second one you would get basalt, you could reset the day and break a regular geode then break a magma geode to get the basalt.

So how the rods work is as follows:
Bamboo Pole- Standard Rod
Training Rod- It's like the Bamboo Pole, but with the green bar as if you were level 5 fishing (also training rod stops you from catching some rarer fish)
Fiberglass Rod- Same as Bamboo pole, only it has a space to add bait (you make bait from bug meat)
Iridium Rod- Same as fiberglass, only it also has a space to put tackle (tackle degrades over time)

In a first playthrough I wouldn’t worry about maximising profits, just enjoy the game for what it is!

@signal turtle you will prolly get 2 harvests out of your 10 seeds (assuming you planted them the day after the festival). That means 20 strawberries, so prolly around ~40 seeds if you crush them up. You'll prolly unlock the seedmaker by the end of the year, so just hold on to the strawberries until then and plant all the seeds on Spring 1 next year, and youll get like 5 or 6 harvests out of them
