Both have their advantages. Mushrooms, if using the normal community chest bundles, mean that the bundles are slightly easier to complete. However mushrooms you NEED to check on every couple of days or else you'll lose out on producing more mushrooms during that time. Fruit bats, however, drop the fruit on the floor. So if you've not checked the cave in a week you'll just have more fruit to pick up that's all. But the fruit they drop is more often seasonal fruit and not fruit tree fruit which is a rarer drop from them.

Fishing isn't that hard once you've practiced it a bit. Especially once you start gaining levels
