okay so, basically, on the loading screen, you have four buttons, one of them should be co-op. you have to click that and if the person you're playing with is connected to the same internet as you, you hit start local co-op. if you're playing long-distance, you hit start online co-op. i'm not sure how to invite people on steam, but if you have your friends added, they can hit the same co-op button and then hit search for local/online co-op

i've never actually played multiplayer on PC so if that isn't correct, i apologize
