Probably because low fishing level right now I usually tell people to practise but if you really want to get your fishing level up a bit first to make the bar bigger you can purchase a training rod from willy for basically nothing(25g). It restricts the pool of fish you can catch to mostly "easy" ones. So you will only hook fish that are easy to catch.

It can help in the early levels

Because especially if you catch a fish "perfectly" thats to say you don't let it leave the green bar you get a 2.4x xp multiplier

@ambersgone for one, there are technical considerations: Stardew uses peer to peer multiplayer, there is no central server, so someone's phone would have to host the game. Also, the multiplayer version of the game has worse performance which is significant for many phones
