Depends. You CAN fish in them if you have them specifically for ingredients fish. I'll have a pond for sea cucumbers, for instance, in order to make Lucky Lunches. Each time they get up to 10 I'll fish 9 out and make a batch.

Lava eel has the highest priced roe. Blobfish is second. Sturgeon and Ice Pip are tied for third. However, Blobfish outproduces Lava eel by 40% to 60% on average, so it's actually slightly better.
But you need sturgeon for caviar for a couple of things, so that should be one of them.

The crop calculator sucks. It's the very embodiment of "garbage in, garbage out" for misapplying data and completely misrepresenting facts. It's the equivalent of using faulty math to prove the earth is flat.

Yeah it does have a lot of problems when used for more nuanced calculations. It’s relatively good though when budget isn’t a factor and comparing 2 multi harvest crops (Ex: Cranberries and Grapes)

So while in the above example Pumpkins are very much misrepresented cranberries are not

Keep it simple. Plant what you need for the CC, then go for the best money crops for a given season, depending on your processing ability. In Fall that is cranberries to sell raw, pumpkins to process.

On day 4 a Grape plant makes a simple 415.18 profit
On day 4 a Pumpkin plant makes 280.14 profit + 130.07 profit from Yams (surprisingly the best choice on day 18)

(Assuming level 10 farming)

This makes the 415.18 profit from Grapes greater than the 414.97 profit from cranberries or the 410.21 profit from Pumpkins, although this admittedly is a difference of almost nothing!

On second thought it’s probably better to just go with Pumpkins or Cranberries, given how much of a pain Trellis crops are.

So yeah, it turns out we were best off keeping it simple all along XD
