3. Buy 4 animals from Marnie, depending on whether you got a coop or barn, you'd either be getting chickens or cows
   3.5) If you are getting cows, buy a milk pail from Marnie as well
4. Pet your animals daily by right clicking on them, they go through a baby phase where they do nothing until they grow up
5. Petting animals increases their friendship towards you, like normal npcs
   5.5) The higher your friendship is with the animal, the higher quality their products would be, and at some point they may even produce rarer goods instead of their usual goods

1. Animal product quality is also influenced by mood, and to maximize mood you want to open the small door in the coop/silo and keep it open at all times, wiki goes into detail on what increases/decreases mood
2. Animals also eat grass when they roam outside, or hay if they are staying indoors
   2.5) Animals are guaranteed to stay indoors during winter, rain or when you lock the door
3. You have a high chance of getting hay by cutting grass in your farm with a scythe
4. Check inside the coop daily, animals lay their goods inside the coop that you pick up
   4.5) For barn animals (besides pigs and sheep), you need a milk pail to get their milk, for sheep you need shears to cut their wool instead, pigs auto dig up truffles
5. Milking or shearing animals also increases friendship slightly
6. Before winter hits, stock up on lots of hay (1 full silo ideally) and buy heaters for each building, there's no grass during winter and your only source would be to buy it from Marnie directly otherwise
7. Upgrading the coop/barn increases the max capacity of animals you can have at once, and unlocks new animals that can be housed, check wiki for more info
