No. There are guaranteed rain days. And guaranteed storm days. It's always stormy on Alex's birthday, for instance, the 13th of Summer. You can use rain totems starting on that day and get lightning storms all the way up until the 27th, the longest possible streak in the game.

I haven't tried it with botanist, but I think it's a good way for the first winter (especially if you have an empty quarry to dig through) to waste some spare time. But I also think that in your second winter you can do better things with your time. 🤷‍♀️

I fence my animals in after year 1. it keeps them out of my way, and also for pigs is means you're not having to chase down truffles all over creation.
I stopped putting fences around my crops a long time ago. It just became a pain to navigate around the farm as the fences around crops became nothing more than pointless obstacles.

This is true. My very first save was a disaster. My second was better and I learned a lot. But I started a third save with the express goal of having the greenhouse unlocked in year 1. It was successful, and that save has made it to year 14.

Btw @slow kestrel if u wanna know how to the chair glitch here’s how its done:

1. You first get the chair in ur house, or if u dont have one get a chair from robin.
2. Then go into the mines and go next to the mine cart
3. Place ur chair just infront of the mine cart
4. Sit on the chair and you will be walking in a place that the game doesnt allow
5. After that get the chair and walk left
6. Walk until you’ll see a skull symbol and go into their (again by doing the chaie glitch)
7. Go outside of the skull symbol place and you’ll be in the quarry
