got it. ok the false dependencies weren't added in correctly. there's probably a missing comma or bracket or something of that nature. The errors are saying the manifests are not valid files
Post the manifest file in https://smapi.io/json and it'll tell you what needs to be fixed
Any of the ones you edited, and make sure to pick manifest in the dropdown
@tired brook I hate to be a pain, but am messaging regarding the Prismatic Tools mod in regards to this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/10385. I believe since your May 2022 unofficial update of Prismatic Tools you changed the way the image reskin of the tools is done and now the reskins of the mod I linked don't match correctly for both the fishing rod and watering can. Happy if you wish to PM me (most likely our timezones will be out since I'm in New Zealand). Thank you.

Nothing looks wrong from the logs you posted other than your mods being out of date
@knotty wyvern one other thing while it's important to get the manifests correct ofc, you are actually trying to load two CP furniture packs it looks like. Mi's and Industrial were sort of meant to fit together visually, but the CP versions....override each other. Since you use CustomFurniture anyway you may want to try one as a CP mod and one as a CF mod.
But it would help you get answers if you described the problem you were having

My first suggestion is to make sure you are both using the updated version of mods, and be on the same version
No guarantee, but if a crash happens to be occurring due to a bug which is already fixed, you would find that in the more updated version
We shared the mods with each other, one of us downloaded and shared it with all the others to avoid incompatibility
But i will try that.
@delicate wadi Make sure you all update SMAPI, too. I'm not sure how much that'd help but its generally a good idea. SMAPI's the base for everything else when it comes to modding

Does anyone know whether https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/2196 (Convenient Chests) works with Automate? As in, it tells Automate where to output an item?

I mean I personally have moved away from CF stuff so I don't really recommend it with any enthusiasm lol but since you already have the framework installed and it doesn't seem to be causing you problems, it should be mostly fine? I know you can't place CF stuff on tables. That's been an issue for ages. And I don't think beds work with CF (so you'll probably want to do the Mi one as CF in that case b/c Industrial does have CP beds included)

Better Chests has some Automate integration (ie you can configure a chest to only accept specific items, and Automate will honor those settings)
I don't really have time to review your manifests as I'm about to head out but somebody else might be able to help you with that if you want to post them here? json validator will tell you which lines are wrong though. it's almost always a comma or brace.

Oh that's bad. It also helps with mods that add objects to the game. You'll just find broken things everywhere for no reason.
Yeah, I was just beginning my modded sdv journey back then, I never really put anything in town before I installed Automate, so never knew that NPCs were so disregarding to other people's property until that 😄

I’m planning on starting a new stardew save with a different mod set, but still working on my old farm. Do y’all think that I’ll run into any problems with removing and adding mods, so long as the mods are removed before I start up the game, and the mods are consistent for each playthrough?
I tried it with technically a different folder (I have mod groups), and there are no issues.

It seems like one of your mods is causing it somehow (possibly a Harmony mod since they can cause weird issues like that). Not sure which mods you had, but you could try adding a few at a time to see which one causes it?
I have some PyTK mods as well. But oh boy, I could try yea. I'll see if I have energy for it tomorrow 😄
If you use Stardrop you can more easily toggle mods on/off and relaunch with less effort

I ended up removing it and that got rid of the error with your Interaction Tweaks
ok removing sprite master actually fixed the furniture bugging out, having some color issues with the door but i think i can ignore it (all the doors have a slightly different color on top lol)

yeah, smapi ran into the same error first, then interaction tweaks ran into the error while searching for things to patch. I should probably handle that error, huh

Hello, I am trying trying to install mods to play stardew valley on steam, I have installed the API, but after I launch the game on steam. The API opens, and the window says "waiting for game to launch" and then a window error occurs. The game launches fine when I delete the launch location on steam.
Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.

@native dragon I have followed steps from the wiki page. The log parser states that I do not have the errorhandler installed, but I checked the files and uninstalled and reinstalled the API multiple times with no luck unfortunately

I don't think there is a super simple way, you can convert all the xnb to png files, but you'll still need to do extra steps to load them into the game as a mod

@ArcaneDescent @JessYoMama You can do it without a mod. Go to %appdata%/StardewValley and open the file called startup_preferences. ctrl + f for "playerLimit" and you'll find something like this: <playerLimit>-1</playerLimit>.

We don't really know how to fix "my computer audio seems haunted", we can suggest you install openAL?

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).
I knew someone would come along eventually. I'm home in a few hours so that's the earliest I'd be able to help.

Hi, So i installed a mod for enemy health bars, which is completely up to date and there are no other mods with the name of health bar, however on my log it keeps saying that it needs an update when no mod of the sort is installed what do i do?
It's entirely possible that the mod author accidentally forgot to update the version in their manifest file

Which means you need to go to the link I posted to find the new version
Unofficial means the original mod author is not currently supporting the mod, so another modder made a new version, which would not be hosted on the mod's original page

Hi, im trying to download seasonal outfits mod on mobile but it seems it needs smapi 3.9 but when i try downloading from smapi installer it only gives me the 3.7 version, is this a mistake?

That message is saying that PyTK makes your game worse, and the only way to fix it is by not using PyTK

you should place the assets folder into the sve folder, it will overwrite all the pngs it can. You can also check inside the portraits folder and see all the subfolders inside it to see what else it replaces

So I downloaded this mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/8048?tab=description) but it isn't giving me the option to download with Vortex. Where should I put it if I download manually?

the log says you're misisng the content patcher part of durin's rest, but if it was working yesterday that doesn't make sense unless you like somehow deleted it since then and now. maybe try reinstalling it?

Hey folks I'm having trouble with a couple mods, can anyone give me a hand?
So I installed SMAPI and copied the path from there to steam, and steam now launches through it. I downloaded SVE and Grandpa's Farm because Nexus mods said I needed just those two, extracted them to stardew's mod folder, and uh... it doesn't work. The game loads as vanilla.

thats my log but i dont think anything showed for this glitch. also the horse to broomstick and expanded storage plus mods are updated they probably just have an outdated version in the manifest.
It's a bit of a hassle the initial setup, but a lot of them are core mods you will need to get other mods to work.

Hi! The unofficial update just cleaned up the code a bit, and changed the mod to only edit the areas for its own tools (instead of replacing the entire spritesheet). It shouldn't have any effect on that mod you linked to in theory. What issue are you having with it?

the SMAPI path is your game's folder. The one you showed a screenshot of. You just had to go up a one folder. Assuming you're on Steam the default location is here:

Hi. I am setting up mods for a new modded playthrough, And I've been trying to find what is causing some things to happen. (I managed to get rid of most problems, thankfully, but there's still one.
So, everytime I enter the Secret Woods of the Expanded mod, a random furniture item that's apparently rare just, floats horizontally. (I checked plenty of times, this isn't normal.)

The item is impossible to get except for two times I got it while fishing. Anyone has a clue as to what causes this? (It doesn't seem to do anything to the game but I am afraid it might do something, so for now it's not a big deal.)

When I use the fishing rod, there is a watering can attached to it. When I water crops facing North the watering can changes into a weird white arc. Attached screenshots of them - fishing rod on the left and watering can on the right.

well you have to install manually without premium membership but you can tell stardrop to install the zip packages for you.
Also if you have premium membership on Nexus you can get stardrop to update for you

Does that only happen when using the Golden Scythe Recolor mod? I suggest reporting it on that mod's page if so. I'm not sure how that would happen though; that mod only changes the weapons spritesheet, and Prismatic Tools doesn't change that one at all, so the Prismatic Tools update should have no effect on it.
run the game with smapi as you normally would without stardrop so it can generate the file it wants to read

If you didn't have any mods that had it as a dependency i shouldn't think it'd break anything? certainly not to this extent. and if you did have mods that had it as a dependency it wouldn't look like this, it'd be like x mod couldn't be loaded because it requires mods which aren't installed

Yeah I deleted the few that said that. I'm not sure what happened. I've been playing without issues only a few every now and then simple ones. But I downloaded that new Dwarf town app and that things that go along with it and it seems like things went downhill since then.

Ok, so I removed the Prismatic Scythe mod and rolled back the original tools.png from your Prismatic Tools mod. Both the watering can and the fishing rod have the same issues as my screenshots.
Yeah, I think it's just a limitation of the original mod then. The prismatic watering can uses the next spot in the watering can series, but that overlaps one of the fishing rod sprites. I only updated the mod for compatibility though, I'm not really planning to fix bugs in the original mod.

It seems to be due to Multiple Spouses + Stardew Valley Expanded. From a related discussion on SMAPI's Nexus page:
The issue seems to be:
- Stardew Valley Expanded adds animations with the key
<npc name>_Sleep, with an uppercaseS.- These aren't in the sleep animation format (since the first field isn't a single number), but the game normally treats them as regular non-sleep animations since it only checks for
_sleepwith a lowercases.- Multiple Spouses finds all
_Sleepanimations (uppercase) and copies them into_sleepanimations (lowercase), which then fail because they're not in the sleep animation format.I don't know why Multiple Spouses is overriding animations added by other mods though, you'd need to ask that mod's author for more info.

also the ones that are empty folders are likely pngs, that are meant to be converted to xnb (a lot of east asian modders tend to do that, as language barriers make it hard for them to learn contentpatcher)

hi, everytime i return from the desert my game glitches and i end up here instead of the busstop and it wont let me move or press anything and i just have to exit. I cant see any errors coinciding with the glitch in my log, i was watching the log as i returned and no errors popped up. it doesnt matter what time of day i return from the desert, this happens

i recently added a significant amount of new mods to my game, and while the majority of them run perfectly, for some reason i can no longer plant seeds?? im holding the seeds in my hands and the ground is hoed but my cursor disappears over the area to plant and i cant plant anything
does anybody know what could be causing this? i replaced crops.xnb and springobjects.xnb, could that have altered it somehow?

i'm running into a problem that i want to confirm is, like... a pc problem? unless i'm missing something when i look over the smapi logs. i'm trying to set up a modded run but ran into a particular error in the smapi window when the game would super lag, so i pulled all the mods and started re-adding them piecemeal. i got as far as "step one, framework mods -- all good. step two, add AT mods" and then it started happening, consistently with elle's AT mods and inconsistently with a couple of others i tested (without the elle mods). i went to upload the different smapi logs as comparison for sharing here to get help, except when i look at the uploaded logs, i don't see the error cropping up? maybe i'm just missing it, but i'm worried it's, like, a pc memory problem somehow instead of a mod problem

I actually figured it out 🙂 thank you, there was an option in the config for the larger set where i could choose which ones to replace
i asked in a different server but is anyone else experiencing issues with the Multiple Spouses mod and SVE. i'm married to olivia, sophia, and sam. for some reason, whenever it hits 10pm, my game crashes. like the animation stops working but my character can still move. i can't save either when the time is past 10pm. i'm still fairly new to mods so i'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or knows how to fix it.

Because I had many problems when I downsized the font because the quality of the font when it is small is very poor. I used two programs "GIMP" and "paint.net" .
both those programs can edit game images fine, but if you're trying to translate stardew into another language it's a bit more than just editing some images, especially if it's a different alphabet.

There is no problem with that. It's just anti-aliasing around the small font. If you don't want antiaaliasing you can turn it off. But this is going more into making mods than using mods. So best to talk in there.

Good morning ya'll! I don't know if the canning machine or the fish smoker are vanilla or mod, but is there something I'm missing to make them work? I've tried adding coal and wood to the chest. The canning machine used to work just fine on a previous game and the smoker is pulsing as though it is working correctly but is not producing anything.

I've recently been having a problem where pieces of characters original portraits started bleeding through the ones i have that go over them. i deleted the mods that i dl'd after i started having this problem and did a new install of the portraits, but i just had the problem happen again. Do I just have too many mods or something?

ok so I would recommend removing whatever these are: Modv.1.1 and Original b/c these seem to be xnb mods and SMAPI isn't going to load them anyway (plus you should avoid xnb mods as a general rule). Unfortunately from the names I can't even tell what they're supposed to be doing heh. My next question though is are you having overlaps with all the portraits or just some of them? b/c you do seem to be using LeyalLuna's portraits but also...Portrait Accurate Alex.
@gaunt gust I can try, but if it isn't a direct fix, I'd rather leave it as a last resort because that's a whole day job for me. I don't understand most of what I'm doing, and my son won't help anymore.
yes those seems to be residual files from an accidental dl of an old style mod, ill delete those. also it seems just marriage candidates. and portrait accurate alex is a sprite mod made to match what his in game portrait looks like, its not supposed to modify any portraits @dapper gazelle

thats okay! yes i started having problems after i dl'd a mod that changes the beach sprites, but also certain portraits. i toggled off the characters i have sprite mods already for, but interestingly enough it doesnt have portrait edits for characters like abigail and yet i had that problem with her. i just ended up deleting that mod and the mod i dl'd after it (mal's rival heart events) and i hadnt been having the problem anymore... until i was playing today and penny's face got all body horror lmao

im very new to modding and i don't have any coding experience, ive just done some very minor edits on some mods for personal use, thats about it!
minor as in I replaced 1 file with a recolor and rewrote some dialogue in 1 mod lol
yeah I think it's coded as an overlay of just that portion of the face. this allows it to stay compatible with mods that maybe have seasonal outfits but have the same basic vanilla portraits otherwise.
So im updating sve rn do I just re-download the mods and everything then replace where they are in my file?
if you don't have vanilla-ish portraits though it probably does look quite scary 😆
makes sense, as i guess if you did it the way I was talking it would just default to the actual vanilla and the outfit may no longer be the proper season in that instance

You're getting a missing method exception, which, according to google, could mean you have an extra copy of a .dll somewhere. the error message says the method in question is something to do with spacecore, so you could try reinstalling that? make sure you delete your current spacecore folder before adding the new one

alright, that's an out of memory exception. You may need to part with a few content packs. TMXL map toolkit packs use a lot of memory according to the wiki
That mod needs some high memory because it has a lot of edits
So if you don't have enough RAM then it'll crash

If you have a zip file, you just double-click it and it'll open like a folder
Then you drag the mod files into your Stardew Valley/Mods folder
i just right click and extract all to the mods folder
A lot of older mods use it. The biggest one is TMXL which some map mods will depend on.
So not ideal, if you remove it and grab your log you'll see all the mods you lose from removing it

also have you tried at least temporarily uninstalling that little bathroom you have to see if the issue persists? I think some of the bathroom mods may be older/outdated
this is an issue that happens with some custom farmhouses that are not up to date or coded correctly, the areas you can't pain aren't considered actual floor or wallpaper therefore cannot be changed
they enlarge the houses by adding more map elements but they aren't coded properly to act as walls/floors when you try and change them
tyty. i was only running, like, three tabs of chrome and discord (and of course steam) aside from the game, but i can try shutting everything else off. is there anything else i can try if that doesnt help?

Hello everyone 🙂 Does fashion sense mod conflict with content patcher and/or alternative textures mods?
is there anyway to recover lost save data? I was deleting some old saves that I no longer played with, but when I tried loading up the save I do play with, the game crashed and upon reloading, all of my saves were deleted
Depends entirely on what the CP and AT mod alter. I've got a CP -skin- that it doesn't have any issues with but some of the clothes don't fit right. I haven't delved too far into AT and certainly nothing for clothes, but it shouldn't mess with anything other than body/clothes mods since that's what Fashion sense do.
Ok, I found the error and fixed it — it at least looks ok on my end. Give it a shot?

@heavy sentinel if you don't mind decompiling the code, you can see what areas of the menu are used when they draw menus

@lament prairie for the most part, it worked!! thanks so much for all your help. there is an issue that I can easily ignore.... but three of the windows ...blink. I get this red text for those three windows. It seems to be that each animated window has four frames per png. However for those three, something in the code has gone amiss and instead of appearing as one window with four frames, it has two windows each with two frames, but with nothing to reference for the other two frames. i'm sorry if that's hard to understand i feel dizzy just writing it.
taking a peek into the furniture.json file. there are two entries in the file that use the black window, rasmodius window, and blue window pngs. the first of each of these has

Huh! I think I know what’s gone wrong, although I’m not actually sure how to fix. Let me think about it for a minute. This has to do with how the unique ID is constructed—I think the original mod did something a bit strange
my fix did the trick but there's still two of those three windows in robin's store. but that is far more tolerable than the windows constantly blinking in and out of frame
oh i didnt touch the shopEntries.json file so that would explain the doubles in the shop. ez fix.
Yeah that sounds like it! My guess is that the original@mod had some duplicates that shared an ID
And CF just…was ok with that?

is this a mod-added decorable location or a vanilla one, and if the former, are the wallpaper tiles set correctly?
does anyone know if there's any portraits for the diverse sdv mod?

its a mod added and it won't even accept wallpapers anymore, although it did initially, yet it took the wall decoration
and didn't crash on save, didn't crash at all until I tried reloading the save
yeah, it's failing on where it's trying to reapply the wallpapers???
must be, yeh. I wish I could fix it by editing the save file but I dare not
so redoing the day better option

For whatever reason the "id" field in CF just...doesn't do what I think it does
oh my manual fixes worked but i'll run yours and see if it matches x)
maybe pytk just ignores one set?

oh nevermind theyre just named differently it seems. the wide windows png is now just "blackwindow8" while the single wide is "blackwindow15" when before it was "blackwidewindow0" and "blackwindow0"
