Can you try running smapi without any mods except error handler and save backup?

It could definitely be smapi, small frame drops have been reported. it's not really fixable unless you want to downgrade to smapi 3.13, the most I can do is ask you to go through this troubleshoot guide, you can offer to help test things out in the thread I linked earlier to help narrow down problems, but otherwise you might have to live with it for now https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Troubleshooting#Game_lags_or_stutters_in-game

Actually it could be pytk/txml dropping your framerate.
And whatever mod requires them.
There are some other possible mitigations, including disabling VSync and using another frame limiter if needed (or just running windowed borderless), and installing spritemaster (and disabling the upscaling).

I would try to avoid downgrading smapi as well.
I thought 3.15 should be pretty fast anyway.
Custom npc fixes is also reportedly slow as well, but I'm not sure if its just loading times or fps or what.
Spritemaster has a patch for that as well.

As a rule of thumb, if you are getting framedrops, you should chunk or avoid mods that require old frameworks, or complicated-looking mods that themselves are old.

For BFAV do you put the added animals in BFAV's folder? (e.g. Like for Rose Cows would I put it in BFAV?)
bfav is the framework, same as content patcher, json assets, etc. so you don't need to put the mods you download (e.g. rose cows) inside of it. just put bfav in your mods folder. and put rose cows in your mod folder.

Exited Steam, still didn't launch.
With no mods the game eventually launched, but it took 10 minutes or so. (Usually it would only take around a minute or less)
you don't need to do that. It just means you aren't launching through steam and it wont track playtime+give achievements

Hello everyone ! I might have made a mistake modding my game, but can't figure out which mod is interacting negatively with which. Once the character is created, if the intro scene is not skipped it will play, then crash. If intro scene is skipped, the game crashes immediately

it starts by freezing, then i get a message that SMAPI stopped answering, and have to close everything.
can you try again and dont click anything for 4-5min? (even if you get a message that SMAPI stopped answering)

So I'm using Overgrown Flowery Interface, which has Kitty Channels integrated to replace the TV screens.
But I love Glam Kitchen mod, which would replace (my choice of) Sunday's recipe TV image.
Right now, the game is taking Overgrown Flowery Interface's UI for the TV on Sunday. Is there a way I can make Glam Kitchen mod take over Overgrown Flowery? Dependency?

For some reason this file couldn't install on my computer when unzipping Expanded- it shouldn't be a problem though right?
Sadly my defender (or how this windows antivirus called) isn't even working bc I'm using AVG. There is a phrase "doesn't work because you are using other antivirus" or something like that.
Yeah, that's fine then; I was just making sure it disabled itself. Can you try disabling/exiting AVG entirely and see if it still happens?
It seems to be there in the download. Can you try deleting and reinstalling the mod? Are you using the unzip tool built-in to Windows, or a third-party tool like 7zip, WinRAR, etc?

Thanks! It didn't work from the first few attempts, but works perfectly now, modded game launches in a few minutes.
I downloaded the "reset terrain features" mod to try and fix some problems with bushes spawning in walls on my farm but for some reason the mod wont work, I tried the default keybinding and tried changing it but the menu wont open, any ideas what could be causing it?

@jade wren There are some instances where you will need to use the compatibility version of the game. Please be aware that SMAPI/game mods are not compatible with this version.
On Steam: In your library, right-click Stardew Valley and select Properties... > Betas > then "compatibility" under the dropdown.
On GOG: From the game's page, click the settings icon > Manage installation > Configure... > then "compatibility" under the Beta channels dropdown.
Also maybe try a graphics driver reinstall, or force high performance mode in the windows graphics settings.
Or an upgrade to Windows 10 :P

There's always a risk anytime JA has to account for added/removed items
So it happens when a mod is added/removed, or even if an updated mod adds/removed items
So the issue is doing updates mid game which added/removed things but some of the updates were needed to fix bugs...

A Json Shuffle is when your Json Assets items rearrange their numerical IDs or different players have different numerical IDs assigned to the same object. See here for details: https://stardewmodding.wiki/wiki/Json_Shuffle
Anytime you change your JA mods you can risk a shuffle. In multiplayer, you need to have exactly the same mods in exactly the same order as your friends.
Anytime you have a shuffle and then solve it, old objects may remain affected but new ones should be fine. You can sell or trash the old items, and spawn in new ones if needed with CJB item spawner.
Thankfully it will be fixed once and for all in SDV 1.6 when that arrives
No more having to keep track of "this item goes to this number" in the next SDV all items are just their name
How do you guarantee 2 players have the same load order? GF and I always have same mod list but I can not guarantee an order since I don't use any mod managers and have never seen anything that allows for managing the order
Load order is automatically determined
Usually it goes in alphabetical order
It'll be the same if you're running with the same mods

It should only break if one player has an extra or missing mod
I've dealt with load order issues in other games and wasn't sure how it would be possible to manage in SDV
When two mods both edit dialogue or images, whichever mod loads last "wins" and is the one you see in the game. We have a very slight mod mismatch but it's only content patcher appearance stuff. So i wouldn't think that would matter.
Yeah if an appearance mod says it depends on something, that could cause it to load earlier
That shouldn't be the case, but that's how it coudl still happen
(I don't think there's any which do that so you should be safe)

Well we have not saved the day yet so we are testing what happens if we reboot and then she goes to pick the same flowers.

We just restarted and she picked the flowers again and got normal roses this time. Guess she isn't going to get to sell them for a few thousand like she thought she was 🙂

Behind scenes, the name can actually be coded as something more unique like "MyModId.ItemName"
What you'll be presented with is a more friendly name
So really no reason for anything to conflict
(as long as everyone follows best practices)
at least can the user change it easier if they dont follow said practices and dissapear?

From what I understand is, you just do the summary in the SMAPI console. Then you should be able to just load the log into the website, like you would with any other errors.
the issue is i feel there's a skipped step there...
If you load an existing save with SDV expanded, it would convert that save. I would create different copies of SDV if you want to play both.

You can always launch the vanilla game, mods only affect the saves that are loaded into with mods installed (and then saved)
So as long as you never save an unmodded save with the game modded, you're golden
Launching the vanilla game can be done by a) making a blank modgroup or b) removing launch options or c) directly launching Stardew Valley.exe

that's the thing, i'm close enough to a last resort that it's the best option for me (unless there's a mod that can control what events have happened)

people tend to avoid PyTK if possible, because it's usually the main cause of slowdowns
but TMXL also requires PyTK
so you'd also have to get rid of all TMXL mods
(and probably some other mods too)

I think you could replace the secret woods map file with the original vanilla map in the assets folder, but i think sve has some foragables that only spawn in parts of their custom secret woods maps

Hello, everyone. I've had a problem for a while that I can't solve no matter what I do. I downloaded a farmhouse and inserted it, so far so good, but whenever I have it in, the edge is white with spots in the corners. Then I thought ok it's the house, but if I take another one I have exactly the same problem.🤷♀️
If I then play with the Basegame, it's gone. and then have a normal brown border. At first I thought I had a mod for it, but I don't have it, which makes things even funnier for me. Of course you're welcome to look through my Smapi log, but it doesn't show any errors regarding this. This is all weird. Anyone have a problem like this? Or has something stuck with me? help me

on my end it was causing audio driver crashes when opening and closing the game, when paired with SAAT

nah, it doesn't break anything for good
the driver restarts and all is back to normal
the only way i could tell this is happening is that i had my own music playing in the background
and it was stopping for a sec, going back a second, and then resuming
both when starting and closing the game
I even tried to reinstall smapi, no change so far 😫
Could be because of the recent changes to SMAPI
nonetheless, Routine is very rarely showing up and the mods are kinda abandoned. also no one wants to try understanding PyTK's code, and there are alternatives for a lot of its features
I had a mod issue once, and the mod author and I couldn't troubleshoot it because the "patch summary" command was broken

Yeah, I already took out PyTk, it was lagging my game massively. Doesn't help that it doesn't like SpaceCore.
Custom Furniture, mod for adding more furniture to the game
I just wanna find a way to freeze NPCs when in a multiplayer session, and this command seems to do that.
All freeze time mods actually freezes time but not monster and NPCs, so if anyone has a clue on how to achieve this, it would be dope !

The only unresolved issue is some log spam during certain events, but its harmless.

But in hindsight our disconnects were from performance issues and from connecting via steam instead of direct ip

- reskins are fine
- mechanic changes may or may not work
- content (items, maps, etc) changes (additions, modifications) are NOT fine
It's advisable for all players in a multiplayer game to have all the same non-cosmetic mods, so bullet points 2 and 3 in Shockah's list

You can still run the vanilla Stardew Valley.exe to play unmodded
(Yeah, like someone might consider items that are cosmetic in-game to be cosmetic mechanically, when they are actually new items or mechanics you definitely need everyone to have instead of just reskins of old.)

Pytk, though a little aged and adds a bit of load time/bugs, is still very useful. Don't think there's any other framework that does the same just yet to my knowledge.

Haven't a clue unfortunately. I remember vaguely that it clashes if you've got other item retextures, but I can't be too sure.
It's why I deleted LFM myself. 
Retextures a few more items besides all of the food. Not quite high res but just as beautiful.

No configs to my knowledge, but if you've got another item retextures just slap that above this and it should work fine.

Hello! I could use some help please. I'm trying to install the most recent updated mods, but every time I try, this pops up. "Oops SMAPI is missing one of its files. Your antivirus might have deleted it." How do I get this fixed?
It depends more on which mods you pick
Some mods are basically lag free, some will seriously hit performance
And its hard to tell which is which.

There's many more errors I'm running into, however I thought I'd focus on that so that the skipped mods were resolved.

Do i delete it ? Isn't there a way to just, y'know, simply update the new version ? And am i forced to do the update ?
I use SVE and it basically messes up Andy's farm on the outside very badly.
I downloaded the prerequisite mods for the vibrant mod as well idk'
Once you download the new version, you just extract it from the zip. Then run the one for your system. Hit install and SMAPI will remove the older version and install the newer one.

For mod, you will download the newer version from Nexus, and open the zipped mod, and drag and drop the mod to the mods folder. It will overwrite the old files, while leaving things like a config file

That's what I'm guessing but I have no idea how to really check. I replaced all the portraits in the content folder in stardew with the new ones.

its likely that you need to update the rest of your mods as they probably have updates for the new smapi, if you upload your log to that site, you can get clickable links to the mods you need to update

So I downloaded SMAPI a little ago but decided I didn’t wanna use mods, so I tried to delete all SMAPI files. It now gives me this screen when I enter Stardew and I can no longer play, please help
you cant really uninstall smapi just through deleting files, but really the only thing you need to do here is remove your launch options from (what I think) is steam

Lol yeh that depends on systems indeed! Oddly enough the mod that increased my load time the longest is the Dam mod, which just adds some maps.

Missing SVE so some mods aren't loading, UI Info Suite is out of date and they should use this one; https://github.com/Annosz/UIInfoSuite2/releases and they're missing textures from Stardust Core so should delete and redownload it

So I’m struggling with mods
I just got stardew on pc just for mods and it’s not loading them in
I have used smapi and downloaded a few mods from what I can remember I got the content patcher, stardew valley expanded and all of its required mods, and box locations on the map mod
None are working in game although the game does open and work fine just no mods there

Windows sorts stuff by putting folders first, then files. the mods don't seem to be there
(they would be folders, just like the 3 folders you already have there)

So how do I re download because there is a cap to how much you download on nexus mods
there is no cap
there's only a download speed limit
but Stardew mods are usually so small, the limit doesn't matter, they get downloaded in seconds anyway

Hi, ive been playing stardew valley for over a year and i used to have mods on it that i had help from a friend to setup, from that time i had to uninstall it bc it wasnt allowing me to play the game. everything was fine afterwards and now im trying to install mods, i installed smapi and the mods folder isnt being created in my stardew valley file, i have tried uninstallling and reinstalling multiple times over the past few months and nothing is working. i just want to play with mods and does anyone know how i can fix this?

Not really, category means I can access chests that are in different locations like for example, one category is the farmhouse, and another is the farmcave
Tabs at the bottom are just filters if chest is full

I have no idea what caused it, checked the files, the textures for the greenhouse are still there, changed the config to wood or stone but none work
