so im like 99% it's a common issue, it's just a bitch to look up online.
basically, on say for example, questboards, it'll just display the directory for certain lines (the whole 'stringsfromCS' thing) instead of... the actual line.
and these are like. vanilla strings.
so like lmao what happened here
i can create a log if needed but im not sure its actually showing up as an error in the log and i downloaded too many mods that are probably not causing the issue (or maybe they are)

managed to install and run just fine, SMAPI definitely present (i saw the console before the game actually launched)

if you just click the "install on Linux.sh" file and hit Execute, it won't actually do anything
it doesn't open a terminal
i had to go into the Start menu (or whatever the name of that is)
I dragged it into the terminal
And then did the [1], [2] text thing
so you followed its instructions? choose which color looks better (2 on mine, 1 was invisible completely), choose which path (1)?

then i returned to Gaming Mode, launched Stardew, and it actually launched SMAPI

I did not put the mod option to freeze the game. However, it gets frozen if I let the time speed config in 12 or more in seconds per minute

Many mods that change gameplay will need to be installed on both players' folders.

For gameplay mods, yes, usually. UI mods and such, not as much. It'll probably say on the mod's nexus page whether or not you need it on both ends.
And whether or not the mod is tested for multiplayer.

I need a tad bit of help, whenever I click on the button to load a new save in the home menu, my game crashes
. It was working last night, but this morning it started to do that, I tried removing all the mods with errors and that didn't help it. So today i updated all my mods, since the last time i downloaded my mods was early 2021. And i still have the problem. I can send my mods list if you would like. Any ideas about whats going on? First time this has ever happened to me.
Also my base game without mods does run perfectly fine

You've got 4 mods skipped for errors. 2 are just missing prereqs, 1 you need to find a newer version for, and 1 is an xnb mod which SMAPI won't touch
what are prereqs?
Mod dependencies. Fresh Meat needs Multi Yield Crops, and Fresh Meat's Bug Net component needs Bug Net.

In the log parser, you can click on what's logging errors to filter the log.

Also i got my game to work, it just requires me to tab out while its loading and then it loads rather than seizing up and saying its not responding :)

i downlaoded around 5 mods today and those didnt work with the mods that are already being used

Where are you running the .bat file from?
In your Stardew Valley folder, you should have: StardewValley.exe (vanilla SDV), SMAPI.exe (modded SDV) and "Natural Color - Launcher.bat" (ReShade).
You should also put the "reshade-shaders" folder in the root folder (Stardew Valley folder)

From what I'm reading, it looks like it runs vanilla SDV with the reshade.
hey guys, i'm having a weird issue where when i open the game directly through smapi one of my mods (chest label system) works fine, but when i open it using the stardrop mod manager it doesn't work at all. any ideas as to why this would happen?

If you're using a mod manager and ask for help troubleshooting, we probably can't help you if the issue is related to the mod manager. You can try asking the mod manager servers for help instead.
Sounds like a Stardrop problem, see if you can ask in their server.

My first question is, is that really a bug? That seems intended. The dialogue you see there. The only error you have looks like a shoecolor thing, which shouldn't have a significant impact

XNB mods are the only ones I can think of, if they're old and borked the vanilla files

Alright, so, the log parser is saying that a few mods aren't working because they are empty, which is not true, because when I click on them, they have the sprites and stuff. Unfortunately, I think they aren't working because there isn't anything that applies the sprites and stuff.

if its the seeds mod, that's bcs there's an optional dependency for a mod that I haven't installed
there's a few meat recipes
the mod knows to replace it with vegetarian versions if you dont have animal husbandry, but SMAPI doesn't
so there's that error that's unavoidable

hiii im having trouble using a dog retexture mod :( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/12316?tab=description it's this one!! i'm using alt textures and im not sure if it's supposed to be selectable from the farmer creation menu or if it'll just show up in game no matter what dog i use?
it's showing up on my config mods list but it's not pickable from my farmer creation menu lol

if you have the adopt and skin version, you should be able to change the skin in the console. If you have alternate textures, I think it's a paint brush thing?

@stiff zinc That mod seems to work as it is supposed to. I couldn't get it to freeze at all. It does make the time look like it's frozen if you set the delay super high, but the time still passes.
nah, you just buy...uh, the paint brush, or the scissors, or the paint can or something
You'll get the dog you choose, and then you can get a tool from robin that lets you select a different skin
and use the tool on your dog. See A&T's instructions for specifcis

Crop Fields is trying to use a better junimos method that doesn't exist, so it could be a problem from either end
(But the cause of the error is Crop Fields)

Yeah I set it to 12 and waited. At 12 minutes it still hadn't changed.
What if you set it to 11 which makes the delay around 2 minutes, but then change it with the hotkeys while in the game.
It should be yeah. 11 sets it to right around 2 minutes, but 12 bugs it out, I waited 12 minutes and it still hadn't changed

You get the mods folder when you install SMAPI, it then tells you exactly where it's located

When you install SMAPI, it should give you green text to copy, it shows the location of the mods folder there. I'm assuming you're not on Android of course.

I never got that before, I have all my nods working fine too, but I just don't remember how I found it, all I know was it wasn't that.

It says you dont have FarmTypeManager, which you can get from https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3231
The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods
Or you can have them right click stardew in the steam program, and choose Manage -> Browse Local Files
I do have farmtype manager, however I think I figured out the issue on my own. I copy and pasted this file over from another mod folder but only ridgeside content patcer OOPS

Yeah it comes with around 4 default mods, then they will need to download new ones
there might be a chance they didn't fully install smapi

Those are the default mods that SMAPI comes with
Then your friend needs to go to Nexus mods, or moddrop. They can download new ones from there and unzip the files into the Mods folder. Make sure they get any required files too.

They may have saved the folders to their computer, but they didn't transfer them to the mods folder

Do you have non-destructive npcs?
Npcs going to the void is a bit uncommon, but once I had that mod the numbers bumped up for me.
I've downloaded the Mine Changes mod but I cannot understand the config. I know that "minMonsterChance", "maxRandomMonsterPerDenominator", and "maxRandomMonsterDenominator" are what I want to change, but how would I change them to increase spawns in the mines by roughly 10 times? I have murder drone and a tractor and I want to see the entire floor explode with one napalm ring reaction, or close to it.

like every time i play mp with someone, and have more than 1 json assets mod installed, items shuffle even when they logically shouldnt. so the ring of wide nets from more rings turns into the root medley. and i dont really understand why that would happen

I just downloaded my first mod, stardew valley expanded, and i got no errors but i cant find Grampleton Suburbs anywhere and i somhow cant find any information online on if i need to unlock it or of its a separate mod. So i thought id just ask here if i need to unlock if first or something

yes, but it's easy to get into the game using content patcher instead, that way you don't have to repack it into an xnb or replace the game files
I know its been a while so its prob fixed but if resetting didnt work I'd see if an older mod is loading an ExtraDialogue file. Loading an outdated file is equivalent to using xnb files but easier to locate using a patch summary.

Well, it's not a mod throwing the error, unless it's a SMAPI problem which I doubt. It's probably an issue with your assets/LooseSprites/Cursors.png which would be a result of the pirated version
the same error also appears in other places and causes serious problems, like missing an SVE location

Oh it almost certainly is. Because it is Loading the ExtraDialogue file. Stop Pierre is editing it meaning it's only changing a few lines but PC was released one month before 1.5 and completely uploads the entirety of three strings files. All to change 5 lines.

Yes you can do that. Make sure the folder names aren't super long though, as computers have a limit on characters for the file/folder path

I downloaded the ridgeside and stardew expanded mod, how long does it usually take for them to load cause its taking a while to load. Its 36 mods in total
depends on your computer, for me on let's say an average computer the game loads in less than 30 seconds with RSV + SVE + various PPJA mods. creating a new save took few minutes the last time i tested
actually they load a lot faster now with a newer content patcher
1 minute and 47.769 seconds for launching the game + starting a new save + closing the game now

When I opened my game today, my avast security software blocked one of the mods I had downloaded for stardew and said I had to restart my computer. I did, And when I tried to launch the game again steam said it was (missing executable). Is there any way to fix this?

We've got the automate mod on a server and im trying to setup keg automation, but when i put a load of stuff in it just eats it all say i have 20 kegs and put in 200 cranberrys they just dissapear

That's cause Flash changed how the folders are set up. Portraits and sprites are in [CP] Stardew Valley Expanded > assets > CharacterFiles. Replace those accordingly

All mods are rar or zip, you just need a program to open them. And the needing an update might just be because the manifest is out of date. You can open it in notepad or something similar and change it yourself

Hi folks, I have been getting this error in Smapi where it says it can't load the stardew valley expanded map for the mine. The result of this is that when I leave the mine, it puts me into the cliff where the entrance to the mine used to be. I have tried a few things to fix it, failed, and now I have a workaround of using cjb warps to get unstuck. Have you tried deleting and reinstalling? It's doing something terrible where it tries to read a .tbin as a .png or something

Hello all so i need a bit of help! Before i switched my ppja JA to ppja DGA, i was having an issue where seeds from the PPJA JA mods wouldnt plant (just a red square on tilled soil no matter what i tried). I updated to the DGA version and now the seeds from PPJA work. Now i'm having the same issue with Plentiful Harvest seeds :/ but alas theres no DGA version of that mod.... yet. Should I just uninstall PH or can i somehow convert it easily?

Hi everyone, I have a quick question about installing SMAPI. I’m on MacOS, and have the installer file downloaded, but when I try to use the “install on MacOS command,” my mac tells me that it cannot execute the command because it’s from an unverified developer. I’ve already given Terminal full disc access as per the instructions on the Wiki guide. How can I fix this?

yes it tells me to just open stardew regular to play with mods in green text

Secret Woods: Tanks FPS and inputs on entering
Backwoods: Tanks FPS and inputs on entering upper half
Bus Stop: Runs fine for a minute, Tanks FPS and inputs once camera pans up
Town: Untested
Cindersnap Forest: Can't test (flower dance today)
Only started on day before flower dance, everything was fine until then. Got worse on day of Flower Dance
Okay so from what I can see Profiler is solely a debugging tool, but...installing it seemed to fix the problem???

you can just install the new smapi again, you don't need to redownload all your mods

i could use some help. trying to get Babysitter working, but for some reason when I load a save with an eligible child to convert into an NPC with the latest unnoficial version of Child to NPC, the game has a stack overflow and closes itself (no crash log, the game also closes before SMAPI can actually log it into it's text file so I had to get screenshots of the console before it closed :( )
i have no idea why it's doing this and no clue how to potentially resolve it
yeah smapi will overwrite any old files so you dont need to uninstall it
