the thing is, is when i put in SVE it gets rid of my cat and everything. Like I wake up and there is no pet at all

but once i remove it, i have my pet and no event plays
is this with all parts of SVE or just the CP part?
You can sever the dependencies by editing the manifest, if you want to test this further
(severing the dependencies might have weird side effects, but if you don't it might not load some things)
Honestly, at the point where removing/putting SVE in causes the bug, it's clearly an SVE problem and my interest in solving it goes down
im too scared to mess anything up at this point ngl
But I can provide tips if you're interested in digging

Ive spent like the past two nights troubleshooting, and Im down to 2 errors which i cant make sense of:
Animated Ridgeside Village Fish 1.2.0 because it requires mods which aren't installed (Rafseazz.RSVJA).
Hisame More Recipes 1.0.3 because it requires mods which aren't installed (paradigmnomad.morefood, ppja.fruitsandveggies, ppja.moretrees).
I dont know what the mods it is telling me I need are. The first one i assume means Ridgeside Village Json Assets, but I have both of the mods (Ridgeside Village and Json Assets) and couldnt find anything extra I had to download.
For Hisame, I saw on Nexus that PPJA's update to DGA might be what is breaking it, but Hisame more Craftables shows no errors and iirc they are dependent on one another so I am not sure. I have PPJA Fruits and Veggies and More Trees. I dont know exactly what is meant by More Food tho. I have More Recipes and Even More Recipes for what it is worth.
I also tried to add the older versions of PPJA alongside/in place of the DGA versions, but kept getting more errors. I havent tried to switch ALL the PPJA mods to JA, though, since I was not getting errors on everything.
Anyone ever run into something similar/have any ideas? Any help is more than welcome 🙂

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

yes, when i get rid of SVE, Peaches the cat appears as a pet and no event triggers
SVE had to rename Hank because it uses bad naming practices and conflicted with another mod

There should be Hank in the game though, at least whenever or wherever hank is supposed to be

@rare quest If you could switch to using qualified names (like PeachesJunimo instead of Peaches) for NPCs going forward, this would help solve multiple problems, including the one this user is experiencing regarding Peaches the cat/Peaches the (I'm guessing) Junimo. It would also generally increase compatibility. I understand it's not possible for existing NPCs, but I really recommend switching going forwards.

Well, per the message I sent above, this actually could have been easily averted. I think cat name/NPC name overlap is actually fairly likely given the number of users and the number of cats with people names.
Like I mentioned, my first cat was named George—after an IRL cat named George

All I actually changed was that the actually API file i renamed to Stardew Valley before making a copy to use as a shortcut. There was also 2 seperate files labeled just Stardew Valley both of which I changed to Stardew Valley - Vanilla . When these 2 things were done in tandem it began to function properly. Some of your mods are still out of date, including code mods - try updating the code mods
(This is hard to troubleshoot because there's nothing in the log.)
half of the mods warnings are false because the author didnt update the key or are unnoficial and most of the aartisan ones are just missing turkish translation

Go to settings in-game and put gamepad mode to either Force On or Force Off depending on if you use a controller or not

Try opening it with PowerShell by holding shift, right-clicking on the folder background of the Stardew Valley folder, and run "Stardew Valley Modding API.exe" in powershell

You'll need to switch to the stable release of Content Patcher.

Open your game folder.
Open smapi-internal/config.json in a text editor (Notepad is fine).
Change the UseRawImageLoading option to false.
Install Content Patcher 1.26.5 (not 1.27.0 or later).
This may increase the performance impact, so you should only disable it if needed.

actually, i dont remember being able to sit in chairs last i played--im realizing now, is it because the game is using a second sprite to display the side of the chair over the player sprite (and additionally, the older retextures i use dont have that)?

just gonna poke around to see if the second sprites are kept on the same sheet or not.........
Looks like TileSheets/furniture.png is where the vanilla chair there lives, so if you can just find the retexture portion, you should be able to just mask out what you need, stick it in the right place, and I'd imagine it should work!

the saves are only affected if you load (and save) them when you have mods installed and loaded, so they should be fine
Hi! So each in game day I get this letter from Ferngill florists association, and wasn't sure if it was meant to have a gift attached too it, does anyone have an explanation as to what could be wrong with it
are you using the DGA version? if so, try switching to the json assets version in older files section on the nexus page, it works better

Hi so I got the JA version of Farmer to Florist and the Letters have disappeared was that meant to happen? As me and my cousin wanted to see if there was a fix for having the gifts with the letters,

Everything seems to be fine, I have no red logs however there is saying it needs an update not sure whether that's relevant, does it need anything to trigger getting the letters like an event?
since you were getting them, you should already meet whatever requirements they have. mail framework letters with attachments apparently should reappear if you didn't get the attachment
but not sure if that always works

You can “forget” letters with MFM commands

also! in the installation instructions of SVE, it explicitly says to pick Granpda's Farm OR Immersive Farm, and you have both installed, which will cause issues
does anyone know if there's a way to heck in SMAPI logs for mods that edit gift tastes?
you can probably see all the mods that are currently editing them if you load the save, upload the log, enable trace and search for data/npcgifttastes
Hi there, installed a lot of mods and so far everything seems to work properly, except for a few things that seems a little bit out of place. Might be working properly though, I'm just not sure : here, it seems like the map is supposed to be opened and connect to the bus stop, so you could go in the little area marked by the red arrow. But when I try to go there, I get a map change when crossing the blue line. If I'm right, it's an issue because of Riverside Village (that changes the bus stop map) et Immersive Farm 2. Just wanted to know if there was an add-on to fix that or if I'm just in the wrong.
the bus etc. are part of the farm map and there for the visuals only i'd guess

If you're using a game install from February, it's probably not set up for Xbox app's newer approach to modding. Can you try this if you haven't already?
- Back up your
Modsfolder. - Uninstall the game.
- Fully delete the game folder if it still exists.
- Reinstall the game through the Xbox app.
- Follow the instructions at https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Installing_SMAPI_on_Windows#Xbox_app, which should work now.

Hello I was wondering if I could get some help with my game. On PC it won't save my game if I've made it to Summer or at least late Spring. Deleting the save file in my computer files and trying again didn't work, and while I have mods for it, I sought help on reddit and was told it was the save file was corrupted. I was trying to update the Shiko npc mod since the log said it was needed, I don't know how to do that but the download was saying to make sure to delete the old one.... so I did and redownloaded and I think I just made a mess of myself. I tried deleting every mod and smapi, then starting the vanilla game. Once I saw it was fine, I redownloaded and got the same errors. The person who helped me out on reddit was Pathoschild, and I finally got back on discord to ask for help
I've only experienced it on early Summer-late Spring
I binged played to get to Summer to see if that would do anything and lost the entire gameplay
can you go into your save file (the most recent), delete Haven_307730384 and SaveGameInfo and remove the _old from the other 2 files, then load that save, go to sleep, and check if you can load that save then when going into the main menu?

I have a quick question.... In my computer files, there's not a file for Saves, only save-backups, would that cause any issues?
your saves are in C:\Users\emily\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley\Saves\
make sure you can sleep and load it again

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

(A mod by itself probably wouldn't do that. That usually happens when something interrupts the game while it's saving, e.g. exiting or crashing mid-save.)
If your whole PC freezes that does sound like possibly not a SMAPI thing

I downloaded a few visual mods yesterday and today when unpacking discovered mods building mods I downloaded seem to be conflicting with something - I just don't know what :(
I'm always careful to never have two building mods at once, so it's not that... And it's really just this weird shadow

@wide briar It looks like you repainted the original farmhouse through Robin's menu, then changed to a custom farmhouse. So it's applying the old repaint to the new texture.
are farm maps supposed to appear with the vanilla maps before you start your game?

I installed the marry any mods (specifically "looking for Love") but i ended up not wanting it and removed the files from my mods folder but when i play the same saved file i still get the results of the town people being single and "need bouquet" to increase to the 9-10th hearts. Is my game stuck with that now or do i have to do something else like delete some data from it? if so how do i have to do that?

Heya, sorry for asking a lot but I'm encountering small problems again: one with Chest and Pouches and one visual. You should be able to open pouches when they're in your inventory, but I can't get to open them. I can only access their inventory when placing them on the ground. Don't know if I'm missing a key bind or something. Other one is just a visual bug when obtaining an item (when your character puts his hands towards the sky like in Zelda, lol) , the obtained item doesn't appear at all. (even though I do get it in my inventory. It's not a real problem but it still unusual)

it doesn't reference the same image as the base game, it has its own asset baked in from what I can tell
probably the same reason that the Ship From Inventory mod doesn't 100% reflect the CP changes to the shipping bin

@timber bane I think Elizabeth and I have it narrowed down to SVE being the problem with the fact that an NPC is names Peaches and my cats name is Peaches. Currently trying to figure out why the file wont hold a save properly even when we change the name. Isnt that crazy lol. But the 12 cats stopped 🤣

I have both the free love and babies take after spouse mods. I already had a child in phase two (with Elliot) when the game asked if I wanted to have a kid with the Wizard. I said yes, and now I have two children (both boys somehow) in the crib and both look like Elliot. Two in the crib seems like a non-issue to me since it will likely fix on age up, but is there a way to make one look like the wizard?

Sadly this did not work. It only gave me the options from that specific mod and not the children take after spouses mod itself
so the way the AT mod works is you can approach your baby and then recolor them to be whatever you want, you can also use it as a template to use babies from other mods (like take the image you want and replace it)

yes, things are added between updates and sometimes it might just give you invisible stuff or mess up buildings. the 1.5 update changed the layout of some tilesheets so it could create problems. Mods like portraits or sprites might work but they wont have beach sprites, things like building recolors wont reskin greenhouses. It's best to find something after dec of 2020

well you can't use all of them simultaneously
it doesnt matter, you can always test them individually
i would try removing CP mods until the error goes away, it's unclear from the logs which one is causing it exactly, but it's probably a pre-1.5 mod
try removing Immersive Professions and see if the error goes away

@pine zephyr I hope I remember the correct ones: ConsoleCommands, ContentPatcher, ErrorHandler, SaveBackup <<-- Keep those folders (it's SMAPI and ContentPatcher stuff), but remove the other mods. You might do it in "groups". And then try again.
well the goal is to eliminate all errors and get the game working as smoothly as possible :) kind of process of elimination to determine the root cause of the crash

if you've started a save with SVE you can't remove it
well once it's in the save it'll cause issues if you remove it
how recently did you add it? might want to check the save backups and revert

If she can't download mods you might stick to vanilla. But for that you'll have to start a new game if you can't revert to a save before you added it.

basically when left clicking when loading save files ur game can crash
doing anything while a game is loading, especially a heavily modded game, will cause issues. this is something I've learned through experience XD

Yo, I'm getting back into the game and I'm way out of the loop. Any good recolors that work with SVE? I hate to admit it but the yellow tones in vanilla give me a headache sometimes. 😅
GF and I use mods, so many of the recommendations in the other multiplayer help don't seem appropriate since it warns 32bit version is not compatible with smapi and mods so I'm asking here.
Does anyone have any information on how to trouble shoot a farm hand being disconnected? We will sometimes play fine for hours straight but other times she gets booted multiple times a day. I'm not sure it's a mod issue because nothing is flagging as red in smapi, everything is up to date, and trying to remove mods now and then doesn't seem to change anything. Also sometimes she will get disconnected just from looking at the profit screen for more than 4 or 5 minutes while taking a break.
vibrant pastoral has some nice stuff but some of it can cause issues since SVE got updates and it's lagging behind. Just look closely at some of the comments to know how to deal with those issues.
One comment in particular gives a link to fixes for some of the building exteriors
I was typing an edit that I'd found that one. Thanks for the heads up on the fixes. I'd assumed it was up to date. Would have been frustrating to find out later lol.
Also I suggest reading the mod descriptions pretty good on pastoral. I noticed one of them warns to disable exterior snow but then someone said they spent hours trouble shooting a crash during winter and it was because they needed to disable the exterior snow.
Having some issues with East Scarp...it keeps saying I'm missing something but when I install or reinstall, it still is saying it's missing...Here's my SMAPI log.

Oh I had it DL along with all the requirements it listed online...I just didn't take the actual mod files out of the downloaded mod folder and split them up so they were double nested...big no no 😄

Hi all, I'm really hoping someone can help with an issue I'm having where I had to remove a mod as it was causing issues, but an item from the mod had to be donated to the museum collection. Now there is an error item in the museum, so any time I try to interact with the counter, it causes a bunch of errors. I don't have a current SMAPI log of it, as I launched the game again since I got the errors (I had some other things I needed to fix, so I was opening/closing the game a few times to check the logs each time and make sure I'd fixed them). When I search in my save file data, I can't find anything under the name of the item from the mod, so I was wondering if anyone knows how I can find it and remove it from my save file? Do things donated to the museum show up as something else once they're donated?
I've just unlocked Ginger Island, so I'd hate to have to abandon the entire save and start again
it might be easiest to just add the part of the mod back that adds that specific item which is causing errors
It's fairly rare that mods add items to be donated to the museum, so I expect all kinds of terrible things to happen when you remove them
The problem is, it was causing issues before I removed it - which is why I removed it in the first place. But removing it has led to other errors, so I can't seem to win!

As I said in my post, I can't find anything with the name of the item in the save file. Which is why I was wondering if items donated to the museum were stored differently in save file data
I can see the item is still there, as there is a shadow on the square where the item was when the mod was installed, but I don't know what to look for in the save file if it's not under the actual item name from the mod
it's probably the item ID if you can't find the item name
item IDs for JSON Assets are dynamically generated though so not sure how to figure it out without adding the mod back
I don't think it's JA, as that isn't a dependency for the mod at all, but I can't see an item ID anywhere. There is just the asset picture, the manifest, a PDB file and a DLL file in the mod folder
unfortunately there's no forum or way to post on the actual mod page, otherwise I'd ask there!

you might want to try messaging the mod author on Nexus mods about the issue you're having that made you uninstall it

I had it since I started the save, but you can't get the items from it until you dig up the artifact that you donate, then a bunch of things have to happen before you get a cutscene with Clint to craft the actual Mattock item
so I didn't have any issues until after I'd already donated the artifact
aww well, maybe if you donated the item recently you could revert to that point?

Can naming your pet the same as an NPC mess with any mods, for some reason?
Yes, although in the base game it does not
Many mods use qualified internal names for NPCs, like "BobTheBuilder" instead of "Bob", but not all, and I'm not actually sure why the game (or one of the NPC helper mods) doesn't handle the overlap in names
So this really feels like it shouldn't be an issue given that it used to be a problem in the game and then got fixed, but apparently it's a problem for modded NPCs, as I've been helping someone for the last few days with such an issue
Weird question, I have a bunch of aesthetic mods and I've never had issues with them, but for some reason on my new save I hit Summer and they just stopped working? But I don't have any errors in my log. I use A Toned Down Stardew Valley, Eemie's Map Recolors, and all of the Medieval town mods to make the buildings look different.
Wasn't sure if this is why, but the last logs I've had mentioned George having a bad schedule... it didn't click in my head, my friend named our farm dog George. After one of his pets that passed. 💀
It's not like the NPC George does much outside of watching TV though, and I haven't seen it cause problems in-game.
I'm not sure about that, I remember 2 people having that problem. One of them said that they just restart their game when they start a new season. It could also be that a toned down sdv and eemies stuff haven't been updated for 1.5?

Hmm, it's possible there are lingering bug issues, but it's also possible George just has a bad schedule

i'm not sure if it's an effect of a mod i used where you can customize the kids but it says that the adoption agency dropped off my kid like 7 nights ago and it hasn't showed up

https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves#Duplicate_a_save its specifically this part, but also modded saves do not actually save until the player goes to sleep, meaning you could remove sve, open your save, and then close your game without going to sleep. very little mods are unsafe to remove. I'm assuming you'd probably want to keep sve, so maybe just dove your kid and have a new one(as sad as that sounds)
i don't have the dark talisman or however you get access to dove your kids
and not to mention i have no way to get a prismatic shard
also i'm fine deleting sve i don't really need it lmao

your save is probably fine, you can either wait for a new kid from your spouse, or use debug pregnant for a kid in the next morning

That’s normal, smapi doesn’t have a response for every debug command

Hi, I was in here earlier asking a question about a glitched item. I found out what the item ID was and so edited the save file. I thought I had done something wrong, as when I tried to load my save, I got an error in SMAPI, but I have just copied back the original save files (all backed up, as per instructions!) and I'm getting the same error. Can someone please tell me what has caused this, as I haven't changed anything else, and have put back the original save files, so I can't understand why I'm getting errors. Has there been any big updates in the past 6 months or so that could have broken any of the mods I downloaded?
The last update was a minor one on 19th of January (if it's about Steam version). Hence I would doubt it, but if you suspect that there is an issue in that regard check the comments sections on the modpages on Nexus (or whichever side you use if it has comments) if there are any reports.
well, smapi and many frameworks have updated and their updates might be worth getting for greatly improved load times if nothing else

Just a dumb idea: Check which one is your main monitor.
Maybe it switched for "unknown reasons".
Is the "wrong" "right" one a secondary monitor to the left of the primary?

Monogame sometimes objects to negative window placement for reasons I do not understand

If your resolution is messed up try deleting startup_preferences This can be found on Windows at %appdata% > Stardew Valley > it's in that folder, or C:\Users\Yourwindowsnamehere\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley or for Mac can be found at ~/.config/StardewValley To get here you'll want to go to your desktop, then in the menu bar select Go -> Go to Folder...
