I keep having these errors pop up even though these files were downloaded from Nexus and I've never had this issue before (Ignore the top item that has already been resolved, it's all of the ones that have the dll error that I need help with)

Sometimes mods get flagged by overzealous antiviruses. If you're really worried about viruses in mods you can:
- download from Nexus or Moddrop, which check all files for viruses automatically
- preview the file contents on Nexus to see what you're downloading (content packs containing only images and json files are highly unlikely to be viruses)
- view the source code for most C# mods on Github by going to smapi.io/mods and checking the advanced options
- download and compile the source code yourself
You might need to tell your antivirus to cool it

I'm not on Stardew rn, just some tabs and discord and it says memory is at 41% but everything else is a really low percentage

There was two options my stardew valley or custom path
either way the installer should have told you the launch options after it finished
SMAPI is installed! If you use Steam, set your launch options to enable achievements (see smapi.io/install):

If you don't use Steam, launch StardewModdingAPI.exe in your game folder to play with mods.

If you pirated the game it may not work or may have bizarre issues, if that's why you're talking about what version you need.
Otherwise: Android is moddable with Android SMAPI. iOS is not moddable and this is apple's fault.
Android uses version 1.4 of Stardew for now (work is ongoing on porting the 1.5 update) so follow the instructions in the androidmodding link you got given to learn how to find compatible versions of mods

Well, the mod has multiple features that you can look for. For example, try looking at the map. You should be able to see the location of NPCs!

no, most mods are .zip (which computers can handle by default) and for any .rar and .7z files you find, on windows use 7zip instead of winrar

Did you download the 'balanced mode' version or change the settings? You might have enabled limits like not being able to access chests from inside the mine if so.

Hello! Not sure if this is the appropriate channel, please lmk if not, but does anyone know if the elevator mod is working?
I've tried it out and the main mod didn't work so I found some unofficial uploads, but every time I tried that one SMAPI kept saying that there is no "manifest.json" file even though there is one. I even tried putting the mod file into the Stardew main folder and not my Mods folder, and that didn't work either.
I'm basically trying to set up a way for there to be unlimited players without having to add so many separate cabins that it fills up the whole farm. Thank you in advance!

Not sure what a mod manager is, never used one before. I'm only using one mod right now which is the Unlimited Players mod.

Another problem I'm having is, one of the players on my farm uses accessibility mods like the screen-reader to play Stardew, and she said that it works just fine for another multiplayer farm, but whenever she plays with us she gets stuck on the map and can't move around. Is it possible that some mods clash with each other? Because the only difference between her other multiplayer farm & our farm is the Unlimited Players mod, we don't have any other mods.

@ArcaneDescent @JessYoMama You can do it without a mod. Go to %appdata%/StardewValley and open the file called startup_preferences. ctrl + f for "playerLimit" and you'll find something like this: <playerLimit>-1</playerLimit>.

Probably not actually, players can share cabins/beds but Im not too sure. That elevator mod you linked works(i tested it, so a log sometime later when you get back might be helpful as to what went wrong)

one immediate issue I see is that you have both Immersive Farm 2 and Grandpa's Farm installed, you should only have one installed at a time

to summarize what those mods do, they both replace your entire farm map. so you won't need one or another, you just need to pick one. I'm curious which one is loading, you'll probably want to pick that one to keep
tmxloader, none of your mods add any maps using this framework anymore. But also it doesnt seem you have any mods that rely on immersive farm (unless Im seeing wrong)
I'm not very good with computers, so I really dont want anything get messed up as my last save file got corrupted.

The one save file I started with Secord farm got corrupted so I started a new secord farm with different numbers at the end

When I updated SVE is when the issue started. I was told to go to the reddit page and ask about it and flashshifter told me it doesnt look like its SVE related

so let's try having you type debug ebi 1590166 at the start of the day, then after you have the cat, just to make sure everything's good, type debug eventseen 1590166 and see if the cat still disappears and the event repeats the next day

there are some issues with DGA recipes right now, for any PPJA pack that has updated to DGA, I recommend downgrading back to JA

Project Populate Json Assets (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1935) is a collection of content packs for Json Assets that add new crops, flowers, trees, and recipes. (Also see https://mouseypounds.github.io/ppja-ref/ for a collection of references for PPJA and associated packs.)
The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

So pretty much we are disabling saving to see if our debug commands did anything or if they messed something up
And if it works, then you can reenable saving and continue playing like usual
If it doesn’t work, you just reload to title and everything’s fine

ok so now we have a few things we can try...the commands I've found don't explicitly say they work for pets, and there's no pet specific variant, so we'll see what we can do
not sure if this will work, as I've never had a billion cats before, but there's a few commands you could try...
debug fixanimals should do a recount on all animals, not sure if pets count or not
debug characterinfo see if the cats are there, then we know they're NPCs and have specific next steps
debug pettofarm should teleport your cat (hopefully only one cat) to the pet bowl

Try to update mods first, especially smapi. Then remove any mods that caused error on smapi

debug clearcharactersthis should remove all the cats. Do this in your house for minimal impact. If you’re married make sure your spouse isn’t inside.debug pettofarmthis should summon the true cat to the pet bowl
Stardrop is made for Stardew and so we generally recommend it over Vortex or ModDrop.
I use it and it's intuitive and simple!

Some of errors are XNB related mod. XNB mod is not recommended cause you have to replace vanilla files to modded XNB files.

If you consider to move from vortex to stardrop, find all archives (zip files) downloaded by vortex. You can find that on mod menu, the go to top toolbar which has folder image, click it and choose open mod archive folder iirc

Hey everyone, sorry to bother but I could use a bit of help. I seem to be having an issue where downloading fashion sense and a hair packs seems to have wiped out all vanilla hairs. I have 300 bald hair slots now and just the pack I downloaded shows up. It seems any hair pack I downloaded causes it. And I can only have one pack active or I get visual glitches. Am I missing something here?

Depends on your computer but make sure the SMAPI window doesn't say Select Mode in the title bar
depends on what heavily modded is. i think 30 minutes should only happen with 1000+ mods, or if the computer is too weak to handle the mod setup
(if it does say Select Mode, press esc or enter to switch out of select mode)
Chiming in with that my setup takes about 10-15 minutes with the version of smapi in #969807675955236874
got it up, had to wait for "saved game" to appear, exit, restart, and load

I tried patch summary and it says it's not a valid command. Either way here is the log. Something tells me I probably have some old mods or something I forgot about that are conflicting so ill check through that in the mean time

Well it worked till I updated Love of Cooking, and since the error mentions it, I'm gonna guess it's that. Because it worked since I've downloaded the mod on May 30th and hadn't had a problem since.

Hello, anybody that uses BFAV Alpacas+ recolours in their game? I just sheared mine and every single one reverted to original colour, even tho that one is gray and the other is brown. What do I miss here? There is no errors in smapi

Hi, not sure if this is the place to ask this. I'm playing on the SVE mod but I can't seem to catch any daggerfish. Does anyone else know what to do? I have caught at least 150 fish in the highlands where Lance tower is but not a single daggerfish has appeared.

I'm having an issue- basically when I download mods and run Stardew it works fine. But when I log onto my computer the next day, Stardew wont open at all and I've been having to uninstall and reinstall everything every day for it to work.
I have Stardew downloaded through the Xbox app btw
it's fine for me to uninstall and reinstall, it's just really inconvenient

Hello guys, I recently downloaded a mod called Pet Interaction, but it ended up muting my cat so it no longer meows whenever I pet it.
Not liking this interaction, I uninstalled, however my cat still does not meow nor make any other sound! Any recommendations to fix this?
Sounds like it probably wasn't due to that mod then. Did you install any other mods recently? Did you change any of the in-game sound settings?
I did not change any in-game sound settings, and double checking, Mute Animal Sounds is not turned off.
I have added a few other mods, but most of them are aesthetic, like Alternative Texture's Fall Trees.
The only other mods I have that I am aware of that interact with pets is Adopt n Skin, and Pet Beds.
No need! Maybe one of the other changes fixed it; I suggest just keeping those versions until the next SMAPI / Automate updates, and sending me the log if it happens again.

Reset Terrain Features (https://smapi.io/mods/#Reset_Terrain_Features) is a mod that lets you reset, clear, or generate everything that spawns on a map using an in-game menu. That's especially useful when changing maps mid-save, as the debris will otherwise use the old layout (causing things like trees in the water or bushes blocking exits).
See if that might help?
Don't think it works on furniture though. Just debris, bushes, trees, etc

So if you have other placed objects, they will disappear
You can test out the command and then not save the day just to see if it works
then mess around making it sure it only removes what you want it to (picking up statues, etc)

Can you add an exception for the Stardew Valley folder to your antivirus, and see if it still happens? (If you didn't install a custom antivirus, you're using Windows Defender by default.)
any tips on how i would do that? me & my layman knowledge are able to locate inside my save file the "Wicked Statue" but i have no idea what i can tweak to make it disappear. btw i tried the mod and while it does remove the statue with the "objects" setting, it also removes all fences and such and i really cba to rebuild it all

hey guys i've been playing multiplayer with mods and the game is not working, im the host and my friend always takes so long to connect and whenever they enter a new area their screen loads for like 10 minutes. and recently we got a bigger problem where our times in game are different and they are sort of like lagging. but when we uninstalled smapi the game works again, can someone please help

I double checked that both stardew valley & stardewmoddingAPI are allowed through firewall. I also ran the API as administrator - no changes
(vanilla stardew still runs as normal, smapi does not)

the "empty folders" error I'm confused about because those folders have files in them and all the ones marked "empty" have files that look like this; and that didn't need to be unzipped

and XNB is changing your game itself - like its not a mod, but replacer of the original thing from the game
You can use them - but can f game easily watching what was done to my game - just remember to have a copy of the original file

The mute cat issue seems to stem from the NPC Mandalorian and Baby Yoda mod! This issue persists even when I removed all mods except this one, Error Handler, and WarpSnitch, and my cats would meow again if I removed it from my main mod set up.
For now, I'll attempt to play without the custom sounds portion of the mod, which will hopefully just mean that Baby Yoda will meow instead of make his Baby Yoda sounds.

my computer is not old, i have a 64bit system. but if i use the normal version of the game i get 10 fps. It only works with they 32 bit version
It was unfortunately not known by me, but yeah, I'm checking the mod's nexus page now, to see if there's any solutions. I was only paying attention to compatibility issues with Ridgeside Village when initially downloading the mod, so definitely my fault for the oversight, but eh, I had fun reloading my game in more and more goofy states, at least.
That's not the only criteria for needing 32 bit, but have you tried putting the game on your dedicated graphics card if you have one?
The important takeaway in that sentence is not "if your computer is older", it's "SMAPI does not run with the compatibility branch"

(It's not necessarily a 32-bit vs 64-bit issue, even if it works fine on the compatibility branch. The compatibility branch uses different game frameworks entirely, particularly XNA Framework instead of MonoGame.)
yeah, they only support the main game so not a mod issue. Is there any way to use it on the compatibility patch?
Not currently. The differences between the branches are big enough that you'd need a custom version of SMAPI and every mod you want to use.
The troubleshooting section I linked to covers fixes for the base game too (just skip the steps which involve mods).

So I’m going to leave this here in hopes someone may know how to help. @timber bane and I were trying to brainstorm what might be going on with my farm. I keep getting Marnie’s cutscene with adopting a new cat constantly. Then if it rains, I get 12-13 cats spawn inside my house. As days goes on I still have the pets, but they all clump up into one mass. I really have no idea what to do. I do not have any mods installed that allow me to have multiple pets. I appreciate any help

FWIW, Maryx130, the only mods you have that I do not are Ginger Island Mainland Adjustments, and NPC Adventures. That may not mean anything. It may be a conflict somewhere.

- Load up a save (with Content Patcher installed)
- Type
patch export <FILEPATHOFTHING>in the SMAPI console and hit return - Look in your
patch exportfolder in the game folder for the relevant json file or image - If it's a json file, you can share it via smapi.io/json. If it's an image you should just be able to look at it.
Doing what elizabeth suggests first is probably a good idea, though 🙂
A terrible, last resort sort of idea: you can use CP to remove the cat event from the game altogether

So, I play on PC using my Xbox controller. I'm using the UIInfoSuite2 mod (that I love) BUT, I have one little problem with this mod. Whenever my character starts walking, the mouse cursor is now hidden but stuck to my character, so everytime I walk close to something, let's say my crops, it automatically shows the name of those crops and how many days to grow. I know this is what the mod does, but I DON'T WANT it to stuck my cursor to my character :/

If it's a bug in a specific mod, you will probably need to report it to the author
For UI Info Suite 2, the author takes bug reports via github issues

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm using Kyuya's more elegant farmer body mod, and i'm wondering if theres any mods or a way to get it so my character (female) is wearing pants. The only options in the mod I see are all skirts
In the morning I was seeking help with my alpacas which after shearing were reverting to the original colour. Did some digging on nexus and read that its a bug from Adopt n' Skin. Since alpacas are the new animal entry, I played around the naming of colors like Brown, Black, White etc (very creative I know) and added every single one of them into the content file. It worked, black alpaca is black after shear. But I got a hunch that it will also effect sheeps and yep, it is. My question is - is there a way to bandaid it for now while I wait for original person update? Im not sure mashing every recolour into one content file will work since its a base game animal. Anyone have idea what to do? Smapi dont send a red error, sheeps only after shear go to vanilla, after sleep they get back to modded recolours
BFAV is kinda abandoned, which is awkward given that nothing has arisen to take its place
Weird bugs in BFAV unfortunately just kind of ... exist and are never fixed
and FAVR is planned for 1.6 
I could fix BFAV Alpacas, the vanilla sheeps are a problem now. And on Nexus people said that Adopt n' Skin does that

I mean I'd recommend using Alternative Textures over Adopt n' Skin, you can use it to add more colors of sheep and it works similarly to Adopt n' Skin, just doesn't have the adopt part of it lol
I have alternative textures, I could read how to convert sheepies to that but.... I honestly dont know if thats gonna work.

I personally converted all the BFAV mods that add more variety of vanilla animals to AT and everything seems to work just fine for me so far
Go to the url listed in pink in your console and download the newest version, delete the old version and move the new version over

Just seeing this, but that means you'd need to remove RSV NPC adventures as well, as part of the test.
(I'm not BikiFae) but take the images and put that in an animal AT folder (you could get one from some other AT animal mod)

Like found Peritee Billy Goats entry and on that I do my sprites to match females and add what they do
Its a learning by errors (like forgeting .png and smapi goes red and scary)

smapi is throwing an error that says the .dll for automate doesn't exist even though i just updated it with a fresh download and can see the file in the Automate folder. anyone know how i can fix this?

@timber bane I wanted to thank you again for trying to help last night. Like I greatly appreciate it.
So I have a new idea… but I’m on mobile right now so I won’t be able to easily reference things. Last night our problem was there were no cats left, but if we then just spawn in one cat…maybe it will stay as one cat.
So here’s how it goes. The current day I’m on it is sunny. I have no pet. I do the cut scene with Marnie, adopt the pet, the cat stays in the house all day. It never goes outside. The next day it rains and I wake up with 12 cats, but I have a pet and I don’t go through the cutscene. The day after that is sunny and all 12 cats spawn outside by the food bowl, but I dont go through the cutscene.

No, never downloaded that mod. This all started when I updated Grandpa’s farm and SVE
When I contacted flashshifter he said that SVE has no affect on pets
So… I’m lost lol
I wonder if there's some issue with the pet bowl tile
The pets spawn by checking for an extremely specific tile
If you remove grandpa's farm temporarily, does the issue stop?

Check the permissions on the file and your antivirus

I had mine hang there with the latest version of Content Patcher. I rolled back to the previous version, and that fixed it. I'm not saying that's your problem, but it might be?
Try disable your newly downloaded mod one by one to check if the problem still occur

Rename the mod folder and add . In the front (or also in the back)
For example .Automate or .Automate.

I'd recommend going back to the previous version of content patcher, rather than disabling it, as a test.
You've likely copied the automate manifest somewhere else
Because if you disable content patcher, all sorts of things won't load.
Enable trace in the log and search automate to find it

i figured it out, i think? there was a space like this Automate in the folder name and i removed that and now it works

I run on 491 mods and plan to add two more animals and I also have lags like that. But Im patient with it cause I know I just make this game maybe 3 times bigger? xd

If you click on it sometimes you accidentally highlight stuff in it, and when you highlight stuff in a command prompt style window you put it into Select Mode where it just stops.
OH AHA SORRY yeah, I've been opening and closing the game for like the past 30 mins to try and see if anything changes
You exit select mode by pressing enter or esc with that window up to make stuff stop being highlighted
oh! I pressed enter and got out of it, hopefully this does something sdkflja
And comparing the title bar of the two screenshots, yep, in that screenshot where the game was frozen you had it in select mdoe

Dont highlight stuff in the smapi window and leave it highlighted while trying to get the game to load
And yeah with lots of mods, especially the big expansions like RSV and downtown Zuzu and SVE , the game load time can get long

My friends and i tried Always on Server mod and do the manual install (I also tried add mod with stardrop) we don't have error shown on smapi (her log https://smapi.io/log/b087b92ad3074138aeef1d69357e636b ). For some reason i can press F9 to activate and deactivate but my friends can't. Tried reinstall smapi and reinstall the mod but didn't worked either for her. Could it be antivirus mess the mod?
Always on server shouldn't do anything for people who aren't the host.
We tried on our own host farm just to check if the mod works

hey! I'm using this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/7334?tab=description because one of my mods broke the bed energy (from standing, not sleeping on it). I'd like to configure it to restore my energy at the same speed the bed did, which was 1 energy every 500ms but the mod measures time by "TicksPerRegen" and I'm having translating that. Could anyone help?

so, assuming your game is running at 60fps, 1 tick = 1/60th of a second
so it'd be about 30 ticks?

when i enter my farm from the forest and a cutscene event triggers like marnies 3 heart event i get stuck in the wall. is there any way to get out of the wall or do i just have to reset the day and not trigger the event from that angle. also what even could be causing it

first time modding just about anything, having trouble with UI info suite
i got SMAPI running and was able to get the files for infosuit into the right folder but somethings happening where its not compatible
i also unzipped it, which i thought would work but so far no luck :/
