not all mods can be properly managed with a mod manager
to be fair with my computer illiteracy no mods will be properly managed regardless 😔
so if it needs you to overwrite files in another mod you have to open the mod it asks you to and just drag and replace. also never use xnb mods at this point
a file replacement for one of the base game files in this format is highly unreccomended especially for people who consider themselves computer illiterate

in fact you have to manually download smapi just to be able to use it
and on top of that smapi has to be unpacked from its folder and click the .bat file inside the unzipped folder

i used to take my meds at night and they would completely destroy my following day i getcha dude

its like telling the game to load assets that no longer exist in locations that dont exist anymore in and then saving would be wiping all those other objects but there are still permenant traces that will kill the file entirely
Tokens are limited to updating when the day starts, when you warp, or when the in-game time changes. So more realtime tokens like equipped items wouldn't work well, since they wouldn't update until the next context update. More realtime updates are planned for future versions though.

For a .zip file, just right-click (or long-press on Android) it and choose the option like extract or uncompress. You can safely get rid of the MACOSX file.
I usually just delete it, it doesn't do anything since you're on Windows.

when starting the game it's also zoomed in stuff?? and i assume this is a settings issue within the game but idk how to fix that. (this screenshot is on maximum zoom out via the zoom buttons below the wallet)
We kept the Farmhand and SMAPI APIs roughly equivalent so mods could migrate to Farmhand if it was finished, but I'm not sure whether Farmhand could run SMAPI mods directly. I never worked with Farmhand myself.

is there a mod that you apply recently and make your setting changed? everytime i make new farm i should change those zoom settings anyway so might as well checked the setting first
i think i fixed it, there was an extra folder with numbers at the end which i removed. it now seems to be working
i don't recall how to change the settings to make it zoom out more than the buttons allow
i believe i had this issue before and i had to do something to fix it but i dont remember what
and that was without mods
there is two zoom setting on game setting, one for the game and one for ui
i am aware, but before downloading these mods i was able to zoom out more for the actual game/graphics (not the ui)

Folders named _MACOSX can always be deleted, they're Mac system organizational files that get included in zips made on Mac computers. If you're not on Mac they don't do anything at all
If you're on Mac you probably won't be seeing them, but you might see desktop.ini files from zips made on Windows (which can also be deleted)
(@/outsidethebox) i was talking about the general game. before downloading the mods on my game i had it set so it was zoomed to perfectly fit the bus stop location from left/right (therefore the view would not shift as i moved across the entire location) without any black gaps on the edges. now it will not zoom out that far.
Ooh, I actually never knew what those files were, just that they were useless. I assumed that they did something for Mac, so I guess I learned something new today. (Which isn't that surprising because I'm not super computer savvy, and I'm illiterate when it comes to MacOS.)

If your resolution is messed up try deleting startup_preferences This can be found on Windows at %appdata% > Stardew Valley > it's in that folder, or C:\Users\Yourwindowsnamehere\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley or for Mac can be found at ~/.config/StardewValley To get here you'll want to go to your desktop, then in the menu bar select Go -> Go to Folder...

My modded multiplayer game crashed mid save and now whenever I tried to save, it does this infinite error. not only that, all the items in the chest have changed and messed up.

With C# mods like Automate and Content Patcher, you can usually overwrite the old version of the mod folder with the new one if you took them both out of their zips in a way that doesn't leave trailing numbers
Such as the Extract All option from 7zip, or opening the folder and dragging the contents out
(I use this to avoid having to redo any config changes I've made)

Got an issue where the output of my artisan products is no longer to the quality of the input. Used to work fine, in a new save it stopped working, and the only thing I changed were updating a few mods.

these mods clash a little - they both change the quality system to the output-depends-on-input system, but in different ways

So I can only get it to work if I remove The No Built in Kitchen and the Buildable Kitchen one. If I have either one of those two, it won't work.
Ok by going into no built in kitchen and deleting the dependencies line for Bigger Farm House. It works now.

Is there a way to look up which item/Recipe is added by a mod in the game, because for some reason does my mayonaise machine turn Goose Eggs -> Goose Mayonaise -> Goose Berry's.
you can search your mod folder for "goose berry"
I did hunt it down, the goose berry is from PPJA Fruits and Veggies.
But I don't see any producer jsoon file that tells the game 'Hey, you know what, your mayonaise machine should turn goose mayonaise into berry's.

Um what wait, bigger farmhouse now has a config that removes the built in kitchen. You don't need to have No Built In Kitchen as well.

when you unzip it you have to run the batch file
you didnt
it says so in the log
so go to the folder for the smapi update
click on install on windows.bat
then follow the instructions and you can delete the installer file

Hello everybody. I found the problem why the Ridgeside Village mod wasn't working. That was due to the Lotus Farm costume card. Can someone tell me if the mod is incompatible with all custom maps? 😦

So... when I try to open Stardew Valley Modded, this error keeps popping every time I open it... It only started happening when I tried installing the latest version of SMAPI.. and well I changed a file...

Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Audio.NoAudioHardwareException this at least usually means that the game doesn't have access to an audio device it can use (i don't know how to fix it if rebooting the computer doesn't)

VPR has an option to turn off Big Craftables in the config file so you shouldn't have to completely remove it. Just as a heads up! This worked for me when I ran into an issue with VPR and Gwen's craftables that was weirdly triggered after an SVE update last year.

Sometimes mods get flagged by overzealous antiviruses. If you're really worried about viruses in mods you can:
- download from Nexus or Moddrop, which check all files for viruses automatically
- preview the file contents on Nexus to see what you're downloading (content packs containing only images and json files are highly unlikely to be viruses)
- view the source code for most C# mods on Github by going to smapi.io/mods and checking the advanced options
- download and compile the source code yourself

Have you checked that the game is whitelisted in your antivirus? That can greatly increase load times
I haven't, but I've had this game for awhile and all I did today was add/update the mods and the game loads without the mods in it

Okay, can you try a reset just in case? Very rarely, even when you don't use xnb mods, it fixes things. And it shouldn't hurt your game or saves.

I just listed Content Patcher, but like Amariel said, there are frameworks that allow new furniture to be added that doesn't replace vanilla furniture! And AT is always a fun one to use, lets you customize your furniture.

Hm, this is the first I am hearing of this. Stardrop tries to remove the MacOS specific file (__MACOSX) that is added when compressed on MacOS, but it should only do so on non-Mac systems.
(Oh, I seemed to have had to removed regardless of operating system. Not sure if that is causing any issues, don't know if the __MACOSX is used at all).

Go to your Stardew Valley folder (not the mods folder), and look for 📁 save-backups. It should be listed by date, hopefully you have one that's recent/before the accidental "farm breaking". Find whichever backup of your farm you need, it'll be something like Farm Name_456713154767852 (random numbers) and copy that folder.
Next, hit Windows + R, and type in %appdata%\StardewValley\Saves and you should see your save folders. Delete the one you're replacing, hit Ctrl+V and paste in the backup, reboot and see how it goes.
(If I wrote incorrect directions, someone pls tell me.. this is what I've done to back up my farms tho)
I updated my farmer's name with console commands and that fixed the game from crashing every time I disconnected, but it didn't fix the frequency of disconnects. I also had my friend add SMAPI to the exceptions on his firewall, but no luck.

For one thing your mods are not in sync, send your friend a zip of the host mods.
Even if its just visual.
He downloaded a Google Drive folder of all the mods.
i physically go inside the game and use item spawner to see if the textures have updated and if there's the little icon

Hey, Ive been using the Unlimited Players mod with a group of people however the game will randomly close connection every once in a while for 2-3 people. The others meanwhile have been able to play normally without crashes. Im the only one who has downloaded the mod while some have gotten the social tab patch for the mod and Im unable to find any pattern as to why.
So far we suspect that since the two players have joined and played before we added the mod, while the ones who keep losing connection joined after, that anyone who joined after adding the mod is getting the issue. We are testing it with one more person to see but they havent gotten the error yet.

Just in case this is relavent, all I have changed was setting the player limit to 30. I did get the Unlimited mod since I am the host however I decided to not download the social tab patch. Other than the Unlimited mod I have no others.

I would recommend pause in multiplayer or a similar mod though.
As well as direct IP if you are going to host that many players, if you arent already.

And sometimes cutscenes get cut off at 2am I think.

Only mods we planned on getting was the multiplayer, which hopefully wont be needed anymore, and maybe one a friend mentioned which can increase the size of the farm

considering some people were getting disconnected twice a day...it cannot be worse than the unlimited multiplayer mod
I made a local build last night which fixes that, planning on submitting it upstream if the dev is still active

its erroring out trying to get all the monsters in the cutscene map, because as far as host is concerned, they aren't in a map at all
so its mostly harmless, but I don't think some paused functionality like monster lock will actually be locking them if those errors are showing up

and maybe the food/drink pause will also stop working as I think that runs afterwards

Port forwarding is done on a router by router basis
But its usually not hard unless you are on dorm wifi or something odd like that.

And we have played many many hours since then. I kinda wrote it off as a fix from some coremod

Okay, that was an interesting one I still wanna track down though. I've got some notions as to why it might have happened. There are actually way more mods than I expected that touch Stardew's internal variables for time, so a planned feature is internal robustness for managing that.
The hard part is always making sure it plays nicely with others haha 😉
MultiplayerTime used magnetism iirc to try and detect if someone should be paused or not, but had issues with custom rings and 1.5 combined rings (and didn't do skull cavern fixes, buff fixes or pausing enemies)
