Hi, I as just wondering if there is a mod similar to Stardew News Feed, or if anyone could update it to work on the current version. I haven't played the game in a couple of years and remembered this mod being a godsend on my farm.

Question. If I have mods installed and make a world, such as SVE, can I still play other worlds that were created without those mods installed? Or will I have to manually install/uninstall the extra mods each time?
if you open a save that was used without SVE and save, you'll need to use SVE in that save after that

Does anybody use Elles cat replacements here? unsure if i broke the mod when editing the config or what, but the sprite for the cat doesn’t work for me.
It gives yellow text in small saying the target doesn’t exist (along those lines) however the little “head” sprite in the farmer menu shows up correctly but the actual cat sprite doesn’t
if i just ‘reset’ the mod partway through a multiplayer save will it break? we only started the save 14 in game days ago, so it’s fairly new, and we only just got the cat.

Yep, i opened the game to load the config, closed out, edited the file, saved and then relaunched. the head sprite worked in the farmer creationmenu, but when Marnie appeared it was the normal cat

so, i've been playing stardew for a few months now. recently started modding my game. nothing too heavy. tonight, i found that one of the mods i've been using, Segen's Dream Coop, is no longer working for me. it was fine just a couple of nights ago. i tried reinstalling it, but to no avail, so i'm kinda stumped as to what could have happened. all of my other mods are working just fine. here's the link to my SMAPI log
recent SMAPI updates changed the content pipeline, and there are some bugs
you can downgrade to SMAPI 3.13.4. also gotta downgrade any other mods you updated that are making use of the new version
thanks for the info. to be honest, it's more of a hassle to revert any of the recent mod updates. i think i'll just look for different skins in the meantime, because pretty sure i've had about a dozen or so that got updated recently. and maybe i'll try messaging the author on nexus in the meantime, see if maybe they can do something about it?
Hi, sorry to bother, I have a problem with Ridgeside, smapi tells me this *Rejected token 'EnableRidgesideMusic' added by Ridgeside Village SMAPI because it could not be mapped: found unsupported methods: Invoke, BeginInvoke, EndInvoke, GetObjectData, GetInvocationList, get_Target, Clone, DynamicInvoke, get_Method*, and my smapi log is here: https://smapi.io/log/e64a717bf7cf4f9ba55325260034b0ec. Ridgeside by itself (and all the mods that requires) doesn't show the warning, and the warning doesn't always show up, I don't understand based on what. I use a lot of mods, and I tried to split them in 2 to dump-down which one could possibly be the issue, but to no avail. With just half of the mod, the warning doesn't show up, with the other half, neither, so I tried to change where I split, I tried to make small groups and load every possible combination, nada. I told myself, maybe I can exclude the purely cosmetic mods, but without them the issue doesn't show up, with only them, neither. I don't know how to identify where the issue is. Ridgeside author can't replicate the issue, and redirect me here. Maybe someone knows what is, or at least can suggest a way to identify where the origin may be.

hello, I'm trying to convert a mod from TMXL to CP and I think I need to change the schedule data of two npcs for the new CP area name, but the schedule files are both XNBs. Any recommendation on how to continue?
the xnb files can be unpacked and then edited (they don't need to be converted back to xnb when used with CP)

you can use StardewXNBHack yeah, the modded files just need to be put into the game's Content folder so that they get unpacked

hey guys my friend @boreal adder is having a lot of trouble getting smapi to install on windows. i even watched him screenshare last night and had him try to install it, and he did everything correctly (i'll also add his antivirus didnt block anything) but smapi just... wont open? and since the game is running without smapi, there's no error log to give us any ideas on what's wrong with our save file
eta we tried having him install 3.13.4 too, not just the latest update, and it was the same thing. like, smapi doesnt even load through to the game, even though it says its installed and the mod folder/bundled mods all generate when he finishes the installation

yep, just delete the ones in mods folder and replace with the new one and no it wont delete all ur mod settings per se, the only one that reset to og setting was the tractor mod for me. which was easily fixable through gmcm

the smapi zip mod, doesnt go in the game folder, but just on ur desktop
you don't seem to have added the mods at all. did you extract the ZIPs?
then u can launch it from there and it will create 3 folders one labeled mods

ardent has it installed, desirenoir. Thats' not the problem. Placing the mods in the right directory is probably the problem - smapi isn't logging that it's ignoring zip files, for example

"compatible" doesn't mean they fully work with each other's features

I updated 9 of my mods yesterday, and SMAPI. All of them working but for some reason I am getting exceptions caught because of Adopt n Skin. It's saying something about the path, but all of my pathing was set up fine before.

Pathos is looking into optimizations for 3.14, so I'd recommend at least trying it to see if things are better or worse.
indoor ->> outdoor probably means a lot of CP re-applying patches for indoor/outdoor changes. You may also consider setting your less-liked villagers in DSV to light mode:
I did just notice under the bugs tab it says other people are reporting it! I should have checked there first lol. Like I said before, will nothing get messed up if I just continue on while I wait for an update? Or should I not play until the mod updates? I'm new to using mods so I'm afraid it'll mess up lol.
SVE's seasonal edits option can cause a lot of delays when going indoors-outdoors (it can be disabled in the config.json of the SVE content patcher part)

I checked the mod in the config menu and it says it should replace the seed maker for example and I even defaulted. It is not being replaced for some reason now.
There is a option for SVE called Alt Craftables, so I will check to see if that is doing it, thanks for showing me what edited them.
Yea that was the cause and I don't know why. I never changed it to be enabled.

i just unlocked the abandoned joja mart, but as soon as i go in there and click on the missing bundle to open it, my game starts lagging, my character starts gliding around, and i can't leave the joja mart or interact with the bundle
smapi just shows a TON of red text and the same error repeated hundreds of times

most likely not, it just means you have to go back and download older versions of the mods you've already updated (such as dga)

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

I've been trying to download stardew valley expanded for the past 2 hours. Made some progress, but I have no idea what I'm doing even with online tutorials, so I thought I'd ask someone here for help.

okay, to explain this further: I have my scheduling debugging tools in a released mod. If you download it, run it, and type out certain things in console, it will throw out a bunch of data that may be useful to parse through
you want the c#, not the CP, that's where the debugging commands are. One of them is av.gima.get_schedule, call that for every problem npc. the other I don't remember specfics of but av.gima lists all of them.

ugh it was a silly mistake in version control, branching the custom bush changes out of the develop branch also took with it the line that registers custom tools with spacecore for save serialisation. go figure 
i'll have an update out in a short while to hopefully fix more bugs than it creates

Any idea why my farmer's legs/shoes aren't changing with CP Cuter shoes for female farmer mod?
No red/yellow text in the SMAPI window regarding it, and no mods that change the character's body other than hair, skin colors, and shoe colors.
So, I'm trying to figure out Custom walls and Floors, but when I tried the template texture pack it didn't seem to add any of those textures into the catalog... So I went and checked the store, no dice.
Where are you supposed to find them? The image in the mod showed a purchase screen but they were in the farmhouse. How do you pull that screen up?
from what I remember that mod is out of date? I personally just grabbed the art and put it in a personal farmer mod I made. You could probably put it in Indie's Female Farmer Overhaul (just don't report bugs to them if you've edited the mod). I think specifically it's missing sitting sprites, so some image editing required.

Sve adds their own Marlon but they also add a birthday to canon Marlon, which had no gift tastes and this is what is upsetting UI2. Moral of the story? Non social NPCs should not have birthdays.

Hi, I'm currently using Stardew Valley Expanded alongside this Wizard romance mod that's supposed to be compatible with it, but they're both suddenly not working together after I switched to another mod set before switching back. The Wizard mod doesn't have any of its dialogue, images or tile sets (for his house) working.
This is the error that pops up:
'[Content Patcher] Two content packs want to load the 'Portraits/Wizard' asset (Stardew Valley Expanded and WizardMarriageMod). Neither will be applied. You should remove one of the content packs, or ask the authors about compatibility.'
I've double checked, and the wizard mod does have a dependency for SDVE listed, with no version requirement. I've tried on a fresh game after uninstalling both SMAPI and the game itself, and SMAPI still tries to load both.
How do I stop it from loading both, and load only one?

For example, it can add new areas, plus some tilesheets changed between 1.4 and 1.5

If you remove the other three furniture mods temporarily, does it behave the way you expect?
If that doesn't work, try:
Type patch export TileSheets/furniture into the SMAPI console and hit return
Look inside the folder in your game folder named patch export for the exported file TileSheets_furniture.png
Check and see what the beds look like there

It seems pretty random at the moment as I can immediately sleep at the start of the day and it does not CTD. The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).
may I ask for an explanation of DGA-JA, unless it's really too much to write out succinctly
DGA: new, no shuffle, still getting the last few bugs shaken out
JA: old, stable, less flexible and powerful
PPJA specifically has bugs in the content packs for DGA not in the framework (DGA) itself

basically, after one day of play the custom skins from a&s would disappear and coop animals would return to their vanilla state
so if i had three "white" chickens all with different skins on through a&s, they would appear as intended for the first day, but sleeping once would revert them all back to white chickens until i closed the game and opened it again

so i haven't played SDV on pc for a fair bit of time. I had only downloaded a couple of items from Nexus. I have notices that mods need to be updated. Specifically:
SMAPI
Content Patcher
Generic Mod Config
I just downloaded Vortex, what is the best way to update the files that I do have. I'm not seeing my mods in there. the only one that shows up is SMAPI and if there is a way to update mods through Vortex, I didn't find it. I did do a search and couldn't find anything that specifically addresses that question. Would it be best to delete my mods and start over?

I still do everything manually, but if you need to use a mod manager use that one. A lot of people new to modding have trouble with Vortex, and while Vortex can be used it has a lot of eccentricities which you need to get used
Ahhh, I see. What I read and the videos seemed to indicat that Vortex is what I needed. Glad to know that there is something specifically for SDV.
I actually did not have an issue installing the mods manually, Everything went quite smoothly. (I was pleasantly surprised)
What is the best way to update the mods that I do have that need to be updated? If you don't mind answering?
delete, redownload, place in mods folder
Except smapi
smapi is special, you need to re-run the installer
if you don't have a lot it should be easy enough to just copy the links from your smapi log
no need to delete smapi first
Nope really the only mod that I have is the Mouse to move mod. I play another game that uses mouse to move and switching to WASD had me face planting into trees, walls, mountains, etc. 😄

I have been itching to try SDV expanded, but have been told it is best to use it on a new save Is there a way to make sure that it doesn't impact my older saves?
if you don't load (and save) the old saves when SVE is installed, it doesn't affect them
Sorry for all the questions, but on my 12 year save, will I be asked if I want to run it with SVE or do I just have to look at is wistfully and never touch it again. 🙂
with stardew valley pretty much all installed mods are applied to the save that is loaded, but you can use modgroups to have different mod setups

The issue seems to be at the end of the file. I have no idea what's causing the game to freeze when I choose my game file or create a new one, I didn't modify anything regarding the Farmer file so I'm pretty much lost at this point. If this is not the right place to ask for help just lmk and I'll be on my way. Thanks anyway

Thank you, that took care of the issue I had but now the game just froze after the "Saving..." on the bottom part of the screen, it goes on a black screen, then Stardew Valley API stop responding/answering (new smapi log : https://smapi.io/log/b982ceb602444673847cb848259975e9) and I have zero errors on this so I'm lost again xD

You have a lot of major expansions. It may take a while (as in five-ten minutes) to set up a new world

Without being the mod author, my guess is for the CP mods their formatting was bad but previously SMAPI/CP compensated for it
Animal Sitter might be having issues with the new SMAPI
It's hard to say without cracking open the code and digging around

i think I found the problem (possibly), the mod buildable terrarium uses the lively frog sanctuary textures. While the secret garden one only replaces sebastians tank, you need to replace the texture in buildable terrarium with that one

there are 2 folders, [BC] terrarium and ATerrarium, inside there should be photos of the frog tank. Copy the photo from secret garden into this one, and rename these photos the names of the ones inside (so like terra_pink -> big_craftable)

You are missing the farm mod your friends are using. I don’t see a farm mod in your mod list.

its fine! so terra_pink would need to be named the same thing as the photo inside [bc] terrarium and aterrarium. The name inside aterrarium is big_craftable, and the name inside the [bc] folder is terrarium, replace and rename

Old XNB mods are likely to be particularly unstable
Try seeing if there’s a conversion?
You can also most likely easily do that with CP
theres a cp version but it's broken : ( i tried putting it in the furniture file in cp for non-cp packs and it didn't work. im not sure if i should give up in that case then

Okay, you can almost certainly learn to make a Cp mod out of it but it will take some@work

that's a mod with both a smapi and a cp component, nothing more.
some mods just come with multiple components, in one ZIP
SMAPI treats them as separate mods
but they're actually all parts of a bigger thing

You would need to either not connect smapi to steam and run it from steam itself like that, or start the game from the stardew folder I think.
just don't open that save after you install sve, if you want to play it again, uninstall sve
If you don't run smapi it shouldn't load the mod I thought. So you can do both modded and vanilla if you wanted to. I could be wrong though.

You'll still need Artisan Valley and Starbrew if you want the alcohol (not needed though)
rename the folder - just make it start with a dot . (ie .ModName. you may need to enable hidden directories if you're on mac, or end it with a dot too on Windows)

that particularly identifier is used for stuff like dependancy checks, as well as referencing items by that mod scope, which basically means you're stuck with whatever you had when you start collaborating with anyone

in general it should be safe, unless you somehow add something that makes the dependency ordering of ja mods change, which isnt especially likely

as to the other, that's not something that's easily found in a log usually, probably have to remove mods until it stops, most likely texture replacers first

You should really stick to 1 recolor because it causes less problems with textures but also because content mods adding in new maps often fail to add the recolor anyway
i tried it with like just one of the recolors but there's an issue

Hey so I am trying to mod stardew, i did it in the past but with a lot of the mods im using now its telling me it cant be installed without the currant version of SMAPI but then i have uninstalled and reinstalled the lastest version several times but it just doesnt work

you don't need to uninstall smapi to get the new version
get the latest version, use the installer and just choose the install option
it will rewrite the older version

Can I see your full log? It usually spits out some other useful things about the file names if it finds them but cannot use them. Are they indeed in assets/skins and not just in /assets?

hm. It seems like something with SMAPI must have changed since I last did some editing, as the portion of code that is throwing error is not one I have changed for a very long time. Did you previously have A&S and recently updated to 3.2.0 (the non-beta version, which it looks like you currently have)? If so, was everything working properly at that point?
it seems that no skins are loading properly, not just dog skins.
I have a weak computer, (without a video card) can I use mods without glitches in the game?
I was able to use mods without a video card, but if you use a very large amount of mods you're going to have trouble most likely.
(or if you use very large or intensive individual mods)
I just got stardew on the pc yesterday
the only "glitches" you would experience are extreme lag or lag so bad that the game locks up entirely
