Can SDV handle many mods?
im planning to have like an mega modpack that has ridgeside, SVE and other QoL mods
Processor AMD Athlon 200GE with Radeon Vega Graphics 3.20 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (5.93 GB usable)
here is my specs. do ya guys think it can handle a lot of mods?

probably not. SDV is a single-core game and your processor's single-core performance is not stellar. but if you are installing 50 or so mods you should be fine
ohh thats good. my plan is to just 20+ mods
I would say, if you are planning to install an expansion, like SVE, Ridgeside, or East Scarpe, install only one of them and see how long it takes your game to load. if it's tolerable to you, then consider installing another
I have around 354 mods and it takes my game between 5-10 minutes to load
and that's with a fairly good processor
and performance isn't necessarily so much dependent on number of mods (loading times might be though). many mods have (practically) no performance impact at all, while SVE and RSV are both on the heavier side probably
hi i got problems with few mods when i load its says its not smapi mod
it gives me link for smapi site for xnb files
Question, I have Gwens buildings installed, the recolors for all the expansions but the only thing it doesn't recolour is my own farm buildings
i just updated a lot of mods including content patcher, and the game stutters a lot in the house and then becomes unplayable outside. can anyone help me figure out why?
it was running fine the last time i played, which was before updating said mods
try removing and reinstalling the mods it complains about, some parts of the mods probably went missing at some point. those highlighted should all be smapi mods

they do but im not using the latest versions
i am using the stable versions
no idea then really. do you remember what non-content pack type mods did you update? i guess those would be the best to check for known performance problems
most of the mods i updated were pathoschild mods
i doubt they have any problems

i think it's still less likely that a content pack could affect performance that badly without errors

There should be an option in the config.json. If you use the Generic Mod Config Menu mod, you can do it in game.
I'm having an issue where (Linux Mint 20) SMAPI keeps complaining that it doesn't have permission to access any files which breaks all the mods as you might imagine. I can provide a pastebin of the error logs if need be.
no errors whatsoever and nothing looks suspicious after the warp to the farm to me. might be a tricky one to solve

the only option available in the config.json and the menu is to enable/disable, and not to change how it looks

maybe launch the game with the only mods i updated?
you can do chmod -R +rw . in the mods folder from a terminal. that usually fixes everything related to permissions
i don't know, i guess the easiest way is to remove the mods that you updated, those that you can without breaking your mod setup too badly, and if it solves the problem, readding them until it starts again

Are there supposed to be multiple options now? It used to just be enable and disable. If you disable, you can use another mod that replaces cursors.

can you do this from a terminal, and see if there is any text output? chmod -R +rw ~/Downloads/Games/legit_games/steamapps/common/Stardew\ Valley
There was no text output, however I have been using sudo because of permission denial complaints. Should I redownload it into my actual steam folders or would that not really make a difference right now? sudo, when all you have is a hammer...
if there is no complaints from that when using sudo, then it's probably that some of the files or folders are owned by the root user
God dang it, of course. Should I restart the whole process from scratch and just not use sudo where possible?
i don't think it's needed. just doing chown -R YOUR_USERNAME . inside the mods (or game) folder should work i think

hey, so I'm using eemies recolor mod on modrop and it kinda messes with my GI texture honestly I'm fine as long my gameplay isnt affected but just wanted to ask if anybody else got this if you're using the same mod and should I report it as a bug? on their page i dont see anything reported tho maybe its just me
That worked! Now I just need to fix everything else lol, but those I don't think will be a problem. Will give me the opportunity to put it in a less shady place. It's hard enough getting support when running modded and on Linux, don't need anyone else thinking I pirated it lol. Thank you so much for taking the time!
no problem! (i have similar commands in a script that i always use before installing new mods, because these kind of permission issues happen surprisingly often)
if it's not updated for GI, then i don't think there's much use in reporting it (i was checking recolors few days ago, and it seemed that none of them were updated for GI)

1.5*, and for the most part it should be. Though some mods now are specifically built for 1.5.6 above, so there's that.

So I ran some mods on my stardew valley, but now SMAPI wont work, and I've tried over installing/reinstalling it

what if you have two mods that modify the same sprite (ex: seasonal cuter but also a different Emily sprite and portrait)? is there an overwrite thing or do I need to edit the seasonal cuter and remove Emily (which I don't know how to do but maybe could figure out)
there should be an overwrite but i think its easier to just remove it manually

kk. have you tried redownloading the installer? what's your system language? does the path to the installer contain anycharacters that may prevent it from installing properly? (additionally, the path to the smapi installer itself might be longer than whats allowed. could you paste the directory name that your installer is in? @manic sentinel )
you have to delete the furniture to clear everything out and then remove the mod usually

Reinstall the Furniture Mod. Remove the furniture items in your farmhouse and then remove the Mod.

i have a retexture mod and incorporeal lighting which... did something, i guess
retextures dont add furniture and lighting just affects lights presumably so those wouldnt affect a furniture pack
unless it like adds lamps or something through dga
even then, wouldnt touch other furniture
afaik incorporeal lighting doesn't actually add anything it just overwrites existing models to be, well, blank

3.13.4 is the latest, you have 3.10.1
the "not a smapi mod" manually replaces one of the files in your game
its not a recommended installation mod
No I know, I meant before I couldn't register what anyone was telling me to do because my brain wasn't making sense of it

improperly formatted is pretty simple
this is what it should look like
Tldr, update the game, get the new smapi from the website.
but if its improperly installed, the inside of the folders get dragged out
basically what happened is that instead of this being in one single folder, as a package, it got dragged out as loose files
this is because when you hit Extract, it takes out whats inside and puts it in the location you told it to put
thats not english anyways
so with most mods, if you open the zip, you'll see something like this
there's another folder inside contianing the files
this is so you can hit extract, direct it to your mods folder and have nothing further to worry about
but some mod makers dont do this and this is how parts of the mod end up scattered about
i recommend checking which mods are working to see which ones werent installed properly
and then make a folder, put the stuff in there and move it to the mods
you can see this because Content/Characters/Schedules is a filepath for a mod, but it's trying to find manifest.json in one of those folders when it's actually in your mods folder

Hey I'm having an issue viewing an event, I thought it was related to East Scarp but someone over there thinks it's SVE
I tried to post in the SVE channel but eveyrthing is locked?
I went Joja route on this save but when I realized Apples could be unlocked only on the CC route, I used CJB cheats to enable the CC
I wondered about unchecking the CC in the CJB cheats mod config then I thought I might crash my save file if I did that
did SVE regain access to the hacked server?

As to your question, unlocking stuff with CJB often doesn't fix things like that when you go the wrong route. I hope you find a way to get it fixed though.

Smapi is the overall modding tool for SDV, so if you don't have that you can't have mods. I think you meant manual? :00
Yeah but I have 24mods installed on vortex including SMAPI. Im assuming I can grab the mods within the vortex folder and paste into smapi?
Also, errr not sure. At minimum you'd have to atleast reinstall some mods from the mod page itself cuz Vortex might eat it. Again

I recall it's "undeploy" then "deploy directly" but I don't recall specifics anymore
Honestly It's only 24 mods, you can easily start fresh and remove all mods from vortex then reinstall it all. ^^

It keeps downloading as 3 different .rar files, (the npc herself, festival location, and spouse) I've never had this with other mods so i'm a bit confused

hi! so im using yri's project yellog recolors, and im trying to use the modular recolor that changes by season, but it doesnt seem to work. even after changing the config in gmcm and restarting the game, things look the same; im confused because i used to use the mod just fine and suddenly it seemed to just stop working. i tried to do a test run with only the recolor and its dependencies installed and it behaves the same. anyone have any ideas, or want a log?

I've been ahving an issue with some mods that have custom windows during level ups or choices (love of cooking, birthday, etc) where its way off in the corner and cuts off so i can't select things properly. I'm not sure what the correct term of the issue is to search is so hopefully this screencap explains it

The bigger problem with 1.5.5 auto-updating is that it changed the game's own framework

Try uninstalling, removing the argument on steam, start normal sdv, install smapi again and open sdv with smapi without any mods

On the topic of issues, my AV is flagging and removing the SMAPI 3.13.4 .dll files after I place the folder in the mod directory. I'd like to note that I had zero issues at all operating the 3.13.2 version. Any ideas?
