#

also not sure why it's saying SVE[TMX] SVE\assets\ShopPortraits is an empty folder because there are clearly files in there...

quick gazelle
#

it will mess with SMAPI

cyan mortar
#

nope

quick gazelle
#

if there's not a .zip file in any of the subfolders then I'm not sure what the issue could be

lament prairie
#

Should that be there at all?

#

SVE no longer uses TMXL

shy orbit
#

might be good to delete it now and reinstall to ensure that there aren't any files left that shouldn't be there

cyan mortar
#

it's added by the SVE anthro mod

#

just checked

shy orbit
#

ah okay

cyan mortar
#

and yeet

#

unimportant

#

away it goes

hazy leaf
#

They should be yeah

cyan mortar
#

friend managed to load into game, make a new farm, and go into town

#

woooo

#

now to test co-op, which theoretically should be fine now

elder fractal
#

Where can I find a working version of Farmer to florist mod ?

lavish marlin
#

It almost certainly did, as .NET has a different GC than .NETfx or Mono

cyan mortar
#

yesssssssssssssssss everything's working now

#

thanks for the help, peeps!

dire fractal
lavish marlin
#

No.

#

You can try using SpriteMaster with resampling disabled; it does some stuff to try to reduce hitches.

dire fractal
#

how do i disable the resampling, I don't see a config in it

#

..nevermind it's a TOML..which is new to me so I didn't see it lol

#

ah

#

turning off resampling killed my game.

#

very cool

shy orbit
dire fractal
#

oh wait there's more resample options, ima just turn them all off

#

[SpriteMaster] [GetPatchMethod] Failed to patch Mod.FixSchedules

#

don't know what htat means

#

well un edited and edited got the same results with the same stuttering i've been suffering with all day. Im gonna play with the config some more though

elder fractal
#

Is anyone using the ppja mods ?

dire fractal
#

I was

#

they work fine

elder fractal
#

The updates from github or the versions from nexus ?

dire fractal
#

nexus

elder fractal
#

And you copy the folder direct in to the mods folder or you have to copy the subfolders in the mods.?

dire fractal
#

just the main mod folder goes into mods

#

that's how all the mods should be

dire fractal
lavish marlin
#

[Config.Resample]
Enabled = true

#

should suffice on its own

dire fractal
#

I set it to false, that did not work for me

lavish marlin
#

I'll have to look into that again

dire fractal
#

some textures bug out now, like the upper left corner mute music button

lavish marlin
#

I might have broken that

dire fractal
#

def broken

lavish marlin
#

hrmm

#

well, play with resampling then, I suppose

#

:P

dire fractal
#

I did, I got no difference in the stuttering sadly

lavish marlin
#

really?

#

huh

dire fractal
#

it doesn't just happen in game btw, it happens..when the game as open at all times

lavish marlin
#

It should remove at least the gen1 stuttering

dire fractal
#

it happens at the main menu, or creating a farm, or anywhere really

lavish marlin
#

yup

#

the gen1 gc stuttering, SM should be mitigating

#

is testing SMAPI with .NET 6 right now

dire fractal
#

I have .NET 6 if you can

#

pass over that smapi to test

#

I can see if it not brokey anymore

lavish marlin
#

It's more of a config change to the json files for the runtime to specify that the runtime should be 6 (though I'm not changing the libraries)

dire fractal
#

I actually tried that myself

#

in the API runtime config

#

I set it to 6.0.2

#

But I didn't get a difference

lavish marlin
#

hmm

#

well, SMAPI has a lot of issues with object creation

#

and there is indeed a sporadic hitch that isn't related to GC

#

which I haven't figured out what it is yet

dire fractal
#

I was not like this before. last year I think, or around that time I modded the game with smapi, alot of mods, no performance issues at all

#

It-

#

The only thing I could possible think of

#

Is re-installing older graphic drivers

#

im doing a clean install with the oldest driver I could possibly get

#

bruh

#

this is the longest time that I've had a solid 60 fps

#

very cool

dire fractal
#

alright so

#

reverting to a 2021 graphics driver has seem to have mitigated the stuttering ALOT, but it seems to still be there slightly, every now and then the movement gets a bit janky, not sure if that might be caused by the glitching going on here

#

I am still getting fps drops to 59, but it's not very noticeable for stuttering but is still there, just alot less.

#

at times the movement is a little bit janky despite being at a solid 60 fps, not sure if that has to do with smapi

#

very nice.

#

I like the aesthetic.

#

I guess the only current solution is to revert to a old graphics card driver to at-least mitigate the problem to where It's barely noticeable. It works, but eh. not a satisfying one.

#

Im going to delete Sprite master and see if I have the same result

#

so removing sprite master makes the performance signifigantly worse

#

screen tearing, fps drops, but no stuttering (weird) but the movement is alot more jank

#

I can feel my character struggling to go through pixels

#

The ticks are definitely back, albeit 59-60 fps with not really any stutter, but can cause a screen tear and make my movement jank

#

after playing for a few minutes it..looks like it stabilizes itself though

#

@lavish marlin so with reverting the graphics driver to an older version, and using your mod (when turning off sampling actually works whenever you fix that) could be the current solution to this at the moment

#

we can finally deliver the holy grail answer upon the many people experiencing this problem with a current solution

#

don't know if it'll work for everyone though

#

ah yaeh im still getting those very small ticks that dips to 59

#

but no stutter

#

but with your mod on top = actually seems to be smooth again

#
  • I have not played with the control panel for this version so, I might be able to do something else there
dire fractal
#

alright so I tried mroe drivers

#

Tried a driver more towards the end of 2021, and after a very small hiccup going outside, with no stutter it looked like, but a small fps drop, then it seemed to stay at 60 for the rest of the time I was running around. which is the best performance I've had with smapi all day.

#

didn't seem to have any jankiness with movement either

#

alright went into the control panel, set some options, pre rendered frames, forced threaded optimization, has mitigated it even more, no fps drops but a tiny bit of jankiness moving outside, but after that semes to be actually smooth now

#

oof i got another stutter but that might of been me alt tabbing

#

alright not touching the control panel at all is better

finite linden
#

I do use a lot of mods and sometimes weird things happen. Not lag just some weirdness like sometimes my player appears to jump slightly or I get a ripple effect on the map - also just for a second and somewhat infrequently

#

Wondering if anyone has a thought on this.

dire fractal
#

I haven't had any symptoms like that. I'm running smapi with no mods.

#

Smapi has some really bad tick sickness going on with it that causes stuttering

dire fractal
finite linden
#

ooh maybe

dire fractal
finite linden
#

yeah that

dire fractal
#

that's from fps drops as well, which happens sometimes with me, with this ticking goign on

finite linden
#

ah so that may be something out of my control?

#

trying to parse my log but it's taking forever

dire fractal
#

Seems to be a smapi issue, and they have no idea what's causing it

finite linden
#

ah ok. wonderful. that looks great in a recording raritywut

dire fractal
#

I'm willing to help them find out what the issue is, but the main author of the mod hasn't shown up yet

#

or well smapi

#

The best mitigation that has worked for it so far is reverting to graphics driver from 2021

finite linden
#

oh my

dire fractal
#

That's the only solution I found, am waiting on ameise to fix his mod, reverting graphic drivers and his mod sprite mod with his optimizations, should completely mitigate it. I hope

finite linden
#

not sure how to do that... it is safe ?

#

for your saves, I mean

dire fractal
#

what changing graphic drivers?

quick gazelle
#

2021 is not that long to roll back to

dire fractal
#

Graphic drivers are completely seprate from your game, sperate thing entirely. won't do anything to your save

finite linden
#

how do you revert them?

dire fractal
#

you've updated your graphics driver before haven't you?

#

Is it a nvidia graphics card?

finite linden
#

I have AMD

dire fractal
#

oh..uh oh

finite linden
#

don't say that meow_yikes

dire fractal
#

im nivdia so idk about amd

quick gazelle
#

I can't imagine it's a significantly different process

dire fractal
#

I can look

finite linden
#

I know how to update them.. I will look in that place and see if I can figure it out

dire fractal
#

here are older drivers for amd

#

uh

#

wait that's only radeon?

#

..idk any of this

finite linden
#

yeah radeon is what I have

#

but I don't want to revert my entire radeon drivers. that would be bad for many things

dire fractal
#

I don't even know if that will work for you, since amd is completely different

#

but it does look like it just lists all their drivers if you search up your graphics card

finite linden
#

gotcha. not gonna try then

dire fractal
#

try updating if you haven't already

finite linden
#

updating radeon? it's up to date.

dire fractal
#

whack

#

well you might want to try reverting to 2021 and see if it helps with that screen tearing

#

I don't get anymore screen tears with mine when I reverted

#

you can just update back any time

ancient rampart
#

Can i add more dialogue in a character dialogue json file?

finite linden
#

sorry it's NOT up to date. I had to revert it recently for serious FPS and memory issues

dire fractal
#

pfft yeah what's up with these recent updates

finite linden
#

I mean it is up to date but not according to Windows

#

they don't talk to each other very well

dire fractal
#

graphic driver updates tryna kill us

finite linden
#

yus

dire fractal
#

you can try ameis's mod with the optimizations

#

but he has to fix the uh

#

super sampling not turning off issue

#

It seems your issue is very minor, I think ameis's optimizations might be exactly what you need

finite linden
#

do you know what it's called? google is not helping me

dire fractal
#

It's this

#

But at the moment you can't turn off the high res sprites

finite linden
#

oh. that could be a problem

dire fractal
#

he told me to toggle them

#

I did, and this happened

finite linden
#

you are still recommending trying the mod?

#

ooooh that's no good

dire fractal
#

once he fixes high res sprites toggling, yeah

#

then you can just use the optimizations, without the high res sprites xD

finite linden
#

I'll track the mod. in the meantime I found a setting in my graphics software that may help as well.

#

radeon enhanced sync

dire fractal
#

Isn't that like G-sync for nvidia, probably

finite linden
#

maybe?

#

it always baffles me how any graphical issues can happen in a pixel game..

#

but maybe I don't know things. I have very limited knowledge of such things

dire fractal
#

it only happened to me because it seems turning off the super sampling, didn't actually turn off all of the functions of the mod

#

so it brokey

finite linden
#

rip

finite linden
#

Will the game ever load faster with mods? Takes forever these days. Heard it’s a platypus thing? 😏

dire fractal
#

depends on what mods you have

#

the expansions are pretty bad with loading times

#

I can load up 190 mods pretty fast, granted I have no expansions

#

Stardew valley expansion, zuzu valley, all those expansions make loading time die

shy orbit
#

spacecore+pytk is still the problem combination that makes loading times longer than they used to be as far as i know. there might be improvements coming to that, plus some other unrelated improvements

dire fractal
#

yes space core always hooks up on adding icons

#

for some reason

formal tapir
#

hey guys. when i put a mod on my save file. does it corrupts it?
I want to add the scythe collect mod

finite linden
#

Ah. I have Ridgeside E Scarpe and all related mods as well as Zuzu. No SVE though. I didn’t know if that was a good idea with all the expansions I already have.

dire fractal
#

it could break it

finite linden
dire fractal
#

some mods you can slide into a current save file

#

but some, nah it brokey

formal tapir
dire fractal
#

I don't think that will

finite linden
#

A scythe mod should be ok, yeah?

dire fractal
#

not a big mod

formal tapir
#

oh ok

#

thank you!

astral plover
formal tapir
#

well that sucks

#

ill still gonna dowbload it

astral plover
#

just do one harvest by hand lol

dire fractal
#

I use the scythe mod

#

it's scythe to meet you o_o

formal tapir
#

does regrowable crops palnted before installing the scythe mod affected by it?

astral plover
#

dont think so. harvest method is saved as information for the crop when the seed is planted

formal tapir
#

qhat happens if the regrowable crop is bloomed after installing the mod?

#

hey @dire fractal can you send me the scythe mod you're using?

#

dm

dire fractal
#

lemme see what I got

formal tapir
#

ok thank you

dire fractal
#

this apparently works with the latest version, some people having trouble with it in the comments, but they never provided their logs to the author

#

so im assuming it was their issue

astral plover
#

@dire fractal you're typing up a novel or something? onlyafroOMEGALUL

dire fractal
#

Nope. Just thinking about what to type. If it annoys you, then ignore the chat.

astral plover
#

i just thought it was funny

dire fractal
#

I'd always recommend the Tractor Mod over every Scythe Mod. It does the same, plus more, is easily configureable plus even with a Scythe Mod you still have to click which gets annoying pretty fast if you have to harvest 500+ Crops at once.

#

I was going to say tractor mod but I don't know if it would integrate into their current save nicely, so I didn't recommend it cus big mods be dangerous

astral plover
#

or you have junimos that do the work for you ^°_°

dire fractal
#

It does

#

for current games anyway

astral plover
#

most mods integrate without any issue. its just things that change community center, farm maps if you dont do map resets and some fringe stuff

dire fractal
#

Tractor Mod is maintained by Pathoschild, and I trust them not to break anything.

formal tapir
#

can i just remove the scythe mod normally? like going into a multiplayer game?

#

or does that break my savefile

dire fractal
#

With my experience lately even removing a mod or two broke my saves, but thatw as with a ton of expansions so idk

#

i was testing my mod list

#

Idk about removing it. Im pretty sure the tractor mod adds a building in

#

and if you build it, and remove it

#

theeen that might be an issue

astral plover
#

its not an issue if the building is removed

dire fractal
#

yeah I guess, but mods leaving behind code in saves usually doesn't end well in my experience with modding any game in general

formal tapir
#

what about removing a mod that is basically HUD mod?

dire fractal
#

unless smapi is really good at removing all of that

#

HUD should be fine

astral plover
#

scythe mods dont actually change the scythe. all they do is add harvestable by scythe to the code whenever you plant a seed

formal tapir
astral plover
#

so even if you remove the scythe mod, you still will be able to harvest crops that you planted while the mod was active with the scythe

formal tapir
#

oh ok

dire fractal
#

If you remove the scythe mod should be alright

formal tapir
#

that was the confidence boost i needed

dire fractal
#

since those are pretty simple mods

formal tapir
#

I dont want to lose my 40 hour game

dire fractal
#

If you're unsure about breaking your game you can always have mod groups.

#

I have one just for testing maps etc.

#

Or just back up your save

#

then you won't have to sweat it

formal tapir
#

what does happen if SV update?

astral plover
#

you already have backups of your save anyway

dire fractal
#

we're all screwed

formal tapir
#

even the simple mods?

dire fractal
#

Updates in general usually break mods, your save should be fine if you let the game update it, but you may have to wait until the mods update before using the save again

#

Plus the SV Modding Scene is pretty save and helpful. I also used to play TBOI with Mods and I have no idea what to do if a mod would break my game. SDVpuffersweats

astral plover
#

just dont update the game onlyafroC

for real tho, its gonna be a while till 1.6, the presumably last update come out. most mods will just work day 1 or a few days after since you can already get access and test how it performs with the changes.

#

content patcher is probably gonna be updated the day the update comes out, and all CP mods should just work imidiatly then.

dire fractal
#

yeah but rip my automation mods

astral plover
#

and every mod that isnt affected by the changes will ofc also just work

dire fractal
#

Automate works tho?

astral plover
#

automate will probably be updated imidiatly aswell

dire fractal
#

hopefully

#

love that mod

astral plover
#

i dont think any of the mods pathos maintains will take more than a few days

#

wouldnt be surprised if he already wrote the update changes lol

dire fractal
#

The only mods that break are usually those who haven't been touched in ages and are kept alive by chewing gum and some tape.

#

I have a really good mod list, just the only issue im dealing with is this underlying smapi issue with stuttering, with no mods even

#

makes the game frustrating

astral plover
#

is your pc slow?

dire fractal
#

god no

#

It's an I7-7700k kaby lake core with a rtx 2070 super

astral plover
#

game runs without any issues on my amd fx 8930 onlyafroOMEGALUL

dire fractal
#

vanilla stardew valley is like butter

#

but smapi comes in and yeets my my 2 frames out the window

lavish marlin
dire fractal
#

I think there were other people with the same stuttering issue with Smapi and no mods.

#

oh?

#

yes many people

#

im not the only one, all of them have high end pc's

#

like me

lavish marlin
dire fractal
#

it is

#

I just don't know if Pathoschild received enough information to find the culprit. I'm sure they would try to fix it. SDVpufferpensive

#

I want to help try to pin down what the issue is, has something to do with random ticks

#

I think the culprit is GC server

#

I've come up with a solution that mitigates it alot

#

just gotta try htis 96kx96k thing

#

I thought this was a configuration thing, im actually just getting trolled SDVpufferchickcry

lavish marlin
lavish marlin
#

24x24

dire fractal
#

[Config.Performance]
TransientGCTickCount = 9000000000000000000

lavish marlin
#

that's probably a bad idea.

#

not least of all because that's larger than 2^31

dire fractal
#

loading in

formal tapir
#

IT WORKSS

#

thank you kind players

lavish marlin
#

you want that to be relatively small, since it's how often it collects Gen1

#

to prevent it from getting really big and hitching when it collects

dire fractal
#

it worked

#

solid 60 fps after changing it SDVbigpufferchick1 SDVbigpufferchick2

#

solid

#

nah im joking Im still getting stuttering, but It's like I said a-lot more minor than it was. but still noticeable, the stuttering turned into micro stuttering like earlier

lavish marlin
#

TransientGCTickCount should be around like 50-150

#

otherwise you're going to get stutters when the gen1 heap fills up.

dire fractal
#

yeah I changed it to all kinds of numbers but it didn't seem to change anything. so I guess the gc tick isn't the issue

lavish marlin
#

That's an optimization.

#

if you give it a really big number, I'm not actually sure what value it would load in. Probably the default.

dire fractal
#

I did highs and lows

lavish marlin
#

too low and you're just triggering a ton of GCs for no reason

dire fractal
#

but nothing changed the 58,59-60 stutters

lavish marlin
#

too high and you might as well tturn it off

dire fractal
#

i mean even teh default value is the same

lavish marlin
#

in my tests there's two sets of stutters

#

one is fairly regular, and is when the gen1 heap fills up

#

the other I have no idea.

#

nothing stands out as a cause

dire fractal
#

the best solution that I have is older driver + your optimizations that mitigate it the most

#

to where its actually playable for me, but I want to turn the sampling off, prefer the more pixely

#

idk maybe with the high res textures off, it might mitigate it completely, at-least I hope it would

#

i gotta sleep though its 6 am here

dire fractal
#

we're successful at mitigating it so far at-least

Yeah I’m unsure myself, unfortunately I can’t remove TMXL as I have mods that require it, I did find this file called Ghost Town-2992-1-0-4-1557486028.(1).zip but I can’t Extract or Remove it

the description is "GhostTown Maps 0.6.0 by Platonymous | for TMXL Map Toolkit | Part of GhostTown Mod" so that's most likely the culprit

Adding in Ridgeside, or any mod that adds in JA items, has potential for a Json Shuffle, so it's best to wait for a new save

[#5859] "A Json Shuffle is when your Json Assets items rearrange their numerical IDs or different players have different numerical IDs assigned to the same object. See here for details: https://stardewmodding.wiki/wiki/Json_Shuffle

Anytime you change your JA mods you can risk a shuffle. In multiplayer, you need to have exactly the same mods in exactly the same order as your friends.

Anytime you have a shuffle and then solve it, old objects may remain affected but new ones should be fine. You can sell or trash the old items, and spawn in new ones if needed with CJB item spawner." - @lament prairie (06 Feb 2022 @ 09:47:44 PM UTC)

turbid bone
#

what do you mean "if I didnt make any changes to config" what does make a change in config

#

(thank you for answering by the way)

lament prairie
#

It means changing one of the options for the mod

#

You would edit config.json or use GMCM to edit it

#

Config.json stores mod-specific settings

#

For any mod that uses one

turbid bone
#

Oh, so no info is stored in those?

#

It is just configuration

lament prairie
#

Just settings, all the save info is with the saves

#

#

ooh, thank you!

#

i searched the wiki, might have searched badly though haha

lament prairie
#

The modding section of the wiki is not findable via the normal wiki search

#

You have to tweak the search settings in a kind of annoying way

#

I usually search “Mods” which brings me to the mods landing page

#

Most things (and a search button for the modding section) are reachable from there

does anime portraits need content patcher?

Yes, make sure to download the content patcher version

dire fractal
#

well I just un-installed 5.0 NET and started up smapi

#

nothing is happening

#

oh here we go

#

it launched but it took a minute

#

alright so same result, the stutter is gone, but there is still a 59 fps drop. but as long as the stutter is gone then I'm fine with that. Im going to install the latest NET and launch smapi

lament prairie
#

It sounds like the change was perhaps unrelated to the .NET things you did

dire fractal
#

ill find out if the stuttering comes back after I install the new net I had lemme see

#

weird

#

just got a noticeable micro stutter

#

and the movement is a bit more jankier, again

#

ill test it a few times

#

mmm so I started a new game after that and It's just a solid 60 now

#

but I don't know exactly what fixed the stuttering, I'm pretty sure reverting back to a old graphics driver did the most

#

im gonna update my graphics card driver to the latest again, and see what happens

I updated my graphics driver back to latest and it definitely seems to have an impact. I just got 2 micro stutters that were noticeable

#

gonna test it a bit more SDVpufferchickcry

gaunt gust
dire fractal
#

The only difference that im noticing is that AUTO GC changing the ram to a different number every time

#

I've restarted the game about 3 times, and it seems the stutter is gone now SDVbigpufferchick1SDVbigpufferchick2 but I dont know why, all test new games

#

Im gonna remove autoGC and see if there any difference

#

micro stuttering again when i run outside, but then smooth after that. same pattern pretty much

#

at-least its only one stutter, then a solid 60 fps after that

#

It's alot better than how it was

#

it use to be just stuttering every 10 or so seconds

#

it was very random though. and now its just smooth, I have no idea what fixed it

#

switching back between multiple graphic card drivers or NETs did something

#

but the FPS issue is still there because Id imagine it's not supposed to be dropping at all

#

The every now and then micro stutter, still happens but after that, it's smooth. unlike before when it was alot worse.

#

im gonna put my mods back in and see what happens

#

wow yeah..well besides the very occasional 59 fps drop that idk what that is

#

there is no stuttering

#

I dont know how exactly I fixed it ..

#

its running alot better now with all my mods

#

Hi! Can you run the SMAPI installer again, post a screenshot of the full installer window when it shows the green text at the end, then try it again and see if you get the same message?

dire fractal
#

hm well I tested it and it seemed to be a solid 60 fps with no stuttering, but SDVE caused really bad jankey movement, was not smooth despite being at 60 fps

#

but I have 190 mods on top of that so

#

Im interested in seeing if the performance stays after removing SDVE though

drowsy herald
gaunt gust
#

I was hoping for a different error

dire fractal
#

very weird

#

so after removing SDVE, loading time is still longer

#

before it was pretty much instant with all my mods, putting in SDVE increased the loading time, taking it out, it's no longer instant with the same mods

#

and the movement is slightly more janky..

#

for some reason, even though i deleted and redownloaded the updated version of the mod Platonic Partners and Relationships, SMAPI is still saying it needs to be updated

ok so im dealing with 2 mods that don't seem to work together and i was wondering if anyone could help me get them working together. it's hot springs farm cave and npc adventures. the npc's can't go into the waterfall room. they go in FarmCave just fine but they don't go down the ladder, its like they cant see it is there. but the room down there appears to have no location ID, it shows up on logs as all FarmCave.
