hey, I'm sorry if this has already been asked here, but I'm trying to update to the newest version of SMAPI, and I keep getting this error. I don't know what to do. I've already tried downloading the file from both smapi.io & nexus, I always extract the contents of the zip file before running the included batch file (I use Windows), and I have an exclusion in Windows Defender for the folder where I extract all my SMAPI install folders, so I don't know what's going on here. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I've never had this kind of problem updating SMAPI before so I'm honestly stumped...:/

yeah, I like to keep my installers backed up on a different drive (along with my old mod versions as well) just in case something goes wrong/breaks in between updates, so I never would've thought that was a thing ๐

I just updated and got all my mods updated however when I try to load the game, the screen is automatically loading as if zoomed into the top left hand corner of the screen. Has anyone else had any issues with this?

It's possible the probabilities of spawning are set very low in the config file

Then uninstall and reinstall the game. You can move your mod folder to see if me place else. And save files if they exist

i reinstalled and put the mod folder back and it did the same thing when i opened it
You have a Characters/Farmer/hats.ko-KR.xnb file. That's a data file, but it's in the folder where the hat image file is, so the game is trying to load it as an image. Deleting that file should fix it.

So, just found something nasty involving Platonymous Toolkit (the unofficial latest), TMX Loader (also the unofficial latest) and a third mod that relies on both (aedenthorn's Swim mod). Here's the log, I can tell whomever's awake enough to tackle the challenge what I was doing exactly that day and what was supposed to happen tomorrow.

GameFolderTestApp.exe; - choose your game folder;

Oh, so you're marrying a vanilla NPC. Maybe it affects vanilla spouse rooms too? 
The most modding towards spouse rooms I have is a mod that patches a single tile to add Sebastian's glassware back into his spouse room. But the error code is also pointing to the Swim mod, which relies on PyTK and TMXL for its underwater maps... which I don't bother with.
@wooden crag Looks like you have SMAPI 3.0.1 installed, which is a really old version. Installing the latest SMAPI 3.13.2 should fix that: https://smapi.io/.

Yeah, the situation with TMXL and PyTK is a bit unfortunate. The author is away so they haven't been updated officially for 1.5.5 yet, and they're complicated mods which do a lot of things, so they're hard to update unofficially. And then a lot of mods still depend on them, so players often don't have the option of just removing them until they get an update.
@wooden crag Did you run the SMAPI installer? SMAPI is the mod loader, it's not a mod itself, so putting it in Mods won't do anything.

(Normally SMAPI would show a helpful message if it detects a copy of itself in Mods, but unfortunately in this case it doesn't understand the new game version so it doesn't get that far.)

I have a modded forest-farm map. Dimensions are unchanged, all I did was remove two ponds and flesh out the remaining one. Would I still need TMXL to load that, or is Content Patcher good enough for it? I only use TMXL because Swim lists it as a dependency, and I don't know if it's hard or soft.
question that i hope isnt stupid: i have sde installed, but i have a vanilla multiplayer world with a friend. my friend is the owner of the vanilla one, do i have to delete the mods or move them to a different folder when i play multiplayer?

This is a mod you created, right? You can definitely do that (and a lot more map-related stuff) with just Content Patcher. With the changes in Stardew Valley 1.5.5, you only need TMXL for specialized features like magic crop layers and such.
Oh, awesome. I'm gonna go do some quick testing, and I'll report in with my findings.

Might've found one glaring error in a spouse-room mod that would require some mappy cleanup. That stuff's easy for me, though.

When you plug your headphones in, the error will probably go away. In the meantime I think it shouldn't cause any issues, aside from maybe Custom Music throwing errors.

I have the one that came with the newest version of SVE, idk if that's the same version or not, but I do know I've tried redownloading the mod using the unofficial update

If you have ImagEd installed, some characters (mostly just Snail & Birdie, from memory) will use it to have recolours of their outfits. However, you'll be better off removing Seasonal Outfits and using Diverse Stardew Valley instead, as it includes the vast majority of the same outfits & features as SVO (since they were originally created by the DSV team and shared with SVO) but with more content since it's still actively being developed and added to, while SVO's lead coder has left modding

Idk I don't actually use Portraiture, but I'm almost certain of it. You can see the hotkey in config.json inside portraiture folder.

Stardew Valley runs off .NET, so you do have to have it somewhere. However the game itself bundles .NET and so does SMAPI.
Have you checked that you're installing SMAPI 3.13.2? That's the version that bundles .NET
And should reduce crashes

Vortex is known to be buggy with Stardew mods - this particular issue isn't caused by it, but it has a bad habit of eating files and not deleting things properly, so it can cause problems with your mods. It's heavily recommended not to use it
Regardless, doing some more setup is better than not playing lol. I will try it

Yeah, I have spent probably 24 hours configuring skyrim mods until they worked
You still have to run LOOT no matter what mod manager you are using though!
But yeah, it might taking a little more work to get used to, but otherwise MO2 is much better pretty much all round
Manual installation's the recommended method for Stardew mods though, since it's just drag-n-drop for 99% of mods and there isn't the same issues with load order & that as the Bethesda games have
Plus you can set up subfolders to keep things organised and you can mimic a profile setup by having multiple Mods folders and just rename them so that only the one you're currently using is called Mods

depends on the user, i myself have no problem using vortex and my game is stable with 112 mods installed
112 isn't that many mods though, and while it might be stable at low numbers where you're sticking to a single mod list throughout your entire game, it starts getting wonky if you decide to add or remove mods later on
i suppose so, yeah, manual will always be better

As an FYI for next time, you can rename them so that there's a . in front of the folder name (eg. .UI Info Suite 2) and that'll tell SMAPI to ignore that folder ๐

When I first tried to boot the game it told me to update SMAPI so I updated SMAPI and all my other mods I.E. Farm type manager, tractor, etc.

Unless the mod specifically says in the mod description that it requires a new save, then it's okay to install any Stardew mods mid-save ๐
It's generally safe to remove them mid-save too - even new NPCs, since SMAPI has a built-in clean-up function that'll remove all the necessary data from your save file
Things might be a little odd but it doesnt normally break anything
or at least not in a way that can't be fixed

I'm having issues with the mod Raised Garden Beds, and I'm not sure what happened. There's some kind of visual bug where an object "???" that's just green lines appears in the garden bed when I place them.
Oh yeah, if you install new map mods mid-save you might get trees & bushes spawned in odd places

I think you've missed moving Custom Furniture into your Mods folder since it's not showing up in your log. The error with Multiple Spouse Dialogs isn't on your end - the author's missed updating the version number in the manifest, so SMAPI is reporting that it hasn't been updated yet.
The rest of them seem to be something with SMAPI not being able to access your Mods folder for some reason. I don't know how things work on Linux, but are you able to set the folder to Run as Administrator or something similar?
Multiple Spouse Dialogues can be fixed easily though by opening its manifest.json and changing 1.0.0 to 1.1.0 ๐
Can you try removing Stardust Core and its related mods?
I actually can't tell which mod crashed since the mod causing error doesn't catch errors and thus pointed towards game..

Looks like you're using both Juna & Magical Family, I think? I believe Magical Family's edits to the Wizard's tower overwrite Juna's edits just below it

The only textures that I know that would do that is Gwen's Medieval Craftables, But that shouldn't overwrite the trash cans, I've used it before with WBPT

Smapi wasn't installing a file, I told them to try the antivirus thing with turning it off and it still didn't work, then found out you have to move it to somewhere else to install it, so I told them to move the installer onto the desktop and it worked

SMAPI's completely safe, yeah. I'm not sure what was going on previously, but I doubt it was caused by SMAPI
Most of the "problems" people have with SMAPI at the moment are because they've either updated to the Stardew Valley 1.5.5 version but haven't updated SMAPI, or they've updated SMAPI but haven't updated to Stardew 1.5.5
Or other similar user errors that aren't caused by SMAPI
So big warning, if you get Get Glam, and you have the save bug where it copies your saves, careful and dont delete anything, as it deletes the original save too. Luckily I have backups, but like, becareful
Yeah, Get Glam is pretty broken in 1.5, sadly. You can use Fashion Sense to replicate some of its features, I believe
It works still though, just save copies are the only issue I have so far. Is there anything else I should be worried about
With Get Glam? Nothing as major as the duplicate save bug, but there's a lot of reports of things going a bit wonky with the dresser item (it disappearing or it getting stuck so you can't move it) and of it not always picking up content packs properly
Personally I'd steer clear of it, but if it's working okay for you, then feel free to continue with it ๐

I see you're new to Linux - you should make sure you are the owner of those files (see chown, documentation here: https://linux.die.net/man/1/chown) and you have permission to read/write/execute them (see chmod. https://www.computerhope.com/unix/uchmod.htm). You should not be using an administrative account or sudo here to download or move mods.

Nothing changed. Sadly. I reinstalled (again) and SMAPI still runs with the same error. I cant seem to see the problem because SMAPI closes itself very fast

First you need a new version of PyTK, and TMXL
so if you run that, you should get something like this. The first bit (the -rw-r--r-- is the permissions) the second bit is the user that owns the file. (Please ignore the stupid username, I didn't set up this Windows install quite right and I'm using git bash for the screenshots right now)
make sure your user owns the file and has at least rw in the first set of letters

Note on chmod -R 644 *.*. The command sets read and write permissions for owner, read for group and read for other. It works recursively and only on files that have a . somewhere in their name so it should skip directories, at least most of them.

Kind of - I'm not sure why exactly, but it's been there for quite a few versions, so it must be deliberate rather than a bug. It's a weird position though ๐คทโโ๏ธ There should be a config option for moving it to another map though, although you'd probably need to edit the X, Y co-ordinates too so that it doesn't end up clipping somewhere else, or you could edit the Y co-ordinates so that it lines up with the altar properly

Why the game is say when I open the smapi say the game is Monogame framework and when I open it normally it doesn't open but I'm XNA Framework and says upgrade the graphics card so is there's salutation
your options are (a) see if your graphics card has more up to date drivers, (b) play on the compat branch without mods, or (c) revert to 1.5.4

What do you mean "graphics card has more up to date drivers compact"
so, the problem is that the game can't use your graphics card, for whatever reason
so you have three options:
the first is to see if you can get more recent drivers for your graphics card. That seems to be not possible
Next, you can chose to use the 32 bit compat version of the game, but that means you will not be able to play with mods
the last option is to download Stardew 1.5.4 (see link) and SMAPI 3.12 and use mods last updated before Nov 31, 2021
(which is what I would recommend)
